List of Anthony F Afong's Reviews
I have been seeing Dr. Afong for 3 Years he has helped me after a back surgery went wrong. He cares about my pain and does everything he can to keep my pain at a tolerable level. Thanks to him I can now stand up straight. The staff is also friendly and helpful. I have never heard a bad comment said by anyone there and all patients records are on computer don’t know how the man below could have seen anyone’s records. I highly recommend him.
The first visit seemed to go okay. I then went back for an injection in my lumbar region. After the injection the pain worsened so I called the office for help and found out Dr. Afong was on vacation with no backup to assist. Needless to say I cancelled my followup appointments as I no longer had faith or trust in Dr. Afong.
Dr. Afong was very compassionate and really took his time with me. The office professionals were friendly and very helpful.Dr. Afong throughly reviewed my medical records and imaging dvds. I received a top to bottom physical exam checking out the areas of concern.Ive had spinal disease from my neck to lower back for over 10 years. I was not prescribed pain medication as most pain management MDs do at your first visit. I was offered an option that could be a more longterm solution. Its called a MILD procedure. MILD is an acronym for Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression. It is a sameday procedure.Having worked in the medical field for years I did my research. I used the nih.gov National Institute of Health website. If you take your time going through the site you will find a wealth of information.I was particularly interested in the clinical trial participation of those 65 and over and the short and longterm outcomes of the procedure. If you do not have an understanding of complex medical research or clinical studies skip the NIH site and just Google the term MILD.I suggest that you forego the medical device manufacturers sites as that would be like searching for a car recommendation on an automobile dealership website. The Cleveland Clinic has an excellent and extensive description of the MILD procedure which is written very clearly and is easily understood. They are refreshingly unbiased in their recommendation of the procedure. Just GoogleClevelandClinic.org and check out their reference library for info.Dr. Afong performed my MILD a few days ago. The entire experience was run with military precision. The medical staff members were experienced professional and treated me with respect and dignity. The entire process from arrival procedure recovery and discharge instructions was under 3 hours.Full disclosure...I will say that the first few days after the procedure I was sore and stiff. Also for a week after no bending lifting or car trips more than 1 hour. Its important to make an effort to frequently walk around. No sitting on your recliner. Get yourself up off that chair and walk.Remember in most cases a successful outcome depends on your attitude and compliance. Be the master of your own destiny.Good luck and Godspeed.
I was going to this office for a year it was ok not great. A new practitioner came in and took over. My visits. She changed my medication which I agreed to try. It was not covered by my ins and two months later I’m still trying to get it put back to the way it was. I saw her in the monthly visit and she said it was authorized. I leave go to pharmacy still not covered I called and called. No one ever returned my calls .. when u went back the third month she refused to put my meds back and really didn’t care that my ins would not cover what she wanted to put me on... I left there and never went back... two years have passed and I just started receiving large bills from their office with all these carried over balances. Not sure why I owed nothing. They collect your payment before you even see the doctor.. not impressed at all. Made me feel like a criminal... never again
I was mistreated for wearing an American Flag on my TShirt. Then after the incident at the Capitol I was discharged. Patients charts were also left out and I was able to see their medical records. This is a clear violation of HIPPA.
I have been a patient for over 7 years... during that time the entire staff was always helpful and would help me with any problems or requests. If your experiencing chronic pain... they can help.
Dr afong did absolutely nothing he said he was going to do and then he did absolutely nothing about that he wont return any phone calls and neither will his staff he ordered a bunch of Xrays and MRIS after I handed him CDs and files of other MRIs and xrays that were less than a year old from a previous doctor and for what reason? I have no idea Im not even sure why he is called a pain specialist he caused a lapse in my medication for 2 weeks that he said he would take care of and never even took care of that not to mention just a plain old bad suspicious noncaring attitude .
Saw Dr one time. Was new in townPaid at time of visit. Get a Bill 15 months later for the first time after they sent it to collections.Keep copies of every transaction with this place.Deception and greed.P S. I didn’t like the doctor. He was no help then and now this.
Excellent
Dr. Afong is an A+ physician. I simply can not say enough good things about this doctor and his staff. First off there is never a long wait to see him or the doctors assistants. Everyone is always very professional and friendly. They are always concerned about your feelings and your well being especially Dr. Afong and the doctor assistants which both spend sufficient time with their patients giving you time to ask all your questions and they really do listen and care. They also answer all questions making sure that the patient understands his or her answers which most doctors dont take the time to do. Dr. Afong is helping me and my pain level does still go up and down because of my injuries but when I started my pain level was a 910 and hasnt been that high again for a long time because of his excellent treatments. Thank you Dr. Afong and his great doctor assistants

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
