I DO NOT recommend Dr Powers or this facility. After appointment, NO phone call to schedule surgery after 30 days. Would not reimburse $405 for my visit. I paid $28,000 to excellent surgeon in WPB as self pay.
I had an appointment with Dr. Powers last week ( May 2023) to assess what needs to be done for my left knee. His next surgery time is next February 2024. Surely he knows how far out he is booked. I asked him at my appointment and he said he didn’t know. I realize he is about the best around, but I cannot wait 10 months. I will need to find another surgeon who, hopefully, isn’t booked that far out. So if you see this doctor, be sure and ask about the wait time.
My appointment with Dr. Powers was on March 22, 2023. X-rays were taken at Dr. Powers Port St. Lucie practice. Dr. Powers met with me, showed me the X-rays and recommended total knee replacement. He left the room and his scheduler came into the room for scheduling. I was informed that the next available date was in December, 2023. After expressing my surprise at the nine month wait, I was informed that i could have the surgery in May or June, 2023 if I pay and out-of -pocket ES CONCIERGE FEE OF $6500.00! In disbelief and anger I said i'm not going to pay to bump ahead of those who could not afford to pay, relegating them to endure pain and discomfort for nine more months. Dr. Powers may be a good surgeon, but is this ethical, moral, or is it merely opportunistic greed? I am fearful of what the future holds for those needing medical treatments but are bumped to the back of the line by more wealthy patients. In my opinion Dr. Powers, this is absolutely shameless and disgraceful

5star excellent
After waiting over an hour, Dr. Powers came in. Personable, and he explained everything well. Needed surgery. We waited another 45 min for the scheduling person to come in. We were told the next surgery appointment was nearly a year away, BUT there's a way to have the surgery in the following month. Pay a $6,500 'Concierge' fee (for this surgery only)...and that's on top of the surgery cost. One perk was you'd be entitled to 'on time appointments'. Since when do you have to pay extra to professional people to be on time? Isn't that the purpose of an appointment? To be tended to at the specified time? We felt swindled for the consultation cost plus the fancy x-rays, not to mention hours lost. This borders on extortion.
Don't ever go to anyone else--another doctor did my sister's hip surgery and it was a disaster,, Dr. Powers has done both her knees and he is the best,, his physical therapy department in the stuart office is the best I have ever seen,, post op rehab is so important,,, He sees my sister every time she goes to PT, he is compassionate, kind and a wonderful doctor,, very little pain because he invented a procedure that doesn't cut muscle,, he is the best,,, don't fo to anyone else
Wanting to postpone knee replacement surgery as long as possible, I continued under Dr. Powers care for over three years, trying all other possible conservative therapies. Two and one half hour wait times without apologies were commonplace. I finally decided to undergo surgery and made an appointment to have it scheduled. I was told it would be weeks or months until they got back with me. After two months, I finally called them to request at least the month that I might expect to have surgery so that I could go about planning my life. I was given a surgery date 14 months out!! Of course, the pre-op packet I had been given advised I could eliminate long waiting room times and expedite my elective surgery by paying a hefty, non-refundable, out of pocket concierge fee, which is not something I wished to do. I chose another orthopedic surgeon for my total knee replacement, done after only a two month wait, no concierge fee.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
