List of Charlotte Behavioral Health Care's Reviews
I went for two days without getting my meds and ended up detoxing cause would not give me the right meds. I suffered there and I was torture while I was staying there just for two days thank God if not, I probably would've died awful experience of this year for me so I wish to get better on taking care of people that actually need care of not just judge without even knowing the person that's why you talk to them and you not fair and it's not right not everybody has a drug problem. Most people are just having bad feelings like depression and anxiety and sadness and grief and this is what they needed to help with and they don't they was one person there that I talk person and tries to help me but everybody else forget about it. They treated me like I was a piece of and I'm drug addict. I recommend if you can avoid not going there it would be for the best interest of the individual not to go there go somewhere else especially if you have if not, they insurance and tax the shit out of it so for now this is all I gotta say, but I'm not happy with them whatsoever I have nightmares because of the bad experience I had and I don't trust those facilities anymore. I'm not ever ever going back and I recommend nobody else to go back, but that's just my opinion.
I was forced to sleep on the floor, denied my own room, and went multiple days without being to change clothes or shower. the carpets, floors, and chairs are disgusting and covered in stains and weren't cleaned the whole time I was there. someone actually threw up on the carpet and all they did was put a towel over it and spray it with febreeze. the nurses are all combative and rude to patients, often times instilling guilt, fear and blame on us for our trauma. We were treated with zero dignity or respect and were given no support at all when going through a crisis. I was stuck in my room for hours, sobbing and curled up in a corne, clearly going through a crisis and was offered no support whatsoever. In fact I was berated and ridiculed by a nurse at whenever I tried to talk about how I was feeling and my discrepancies about how I was being treated.
I was wrongfully baker acted by the charlotte county sheriff's department. I was admitted into the Charlotte county behavioral health care facility. The horrific conditions of the facility were extremely traumatic. The facility is filthy overcrowded and the treatment by the employees is inhumane! Patients at the facility are treated horribly and ignored by most nurses and technicians. The alleged psychiatrist is an incompetent person who does not care about the patients well being and only see's patients via phone chat. The visit is a ridiculous scolding! He belittles patients and offers ridiculous treatment options without reviewing patients medical history or contacting their physician. The food is disgusting and the handling of it is unsanitary. I was offered a tray of slop which was allegedly meatloaf. It was RAW! The employees fail to offer any information including the fact that they are able to provide undergarments and clothing to the patients yet they belittle them about not bathing and body odor. This disgusting facility should be closed down. As a result of this horrible experience I am severely traumatized and I recommend they clean up their act. I suggest the health department or higher authorities looking into the poo level of care they offer. This includes nurses clinicians doctor if one exist.
I don't know about the negative reviews here. But my son's experience was very different. He came in for schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type, a very difficult condition. He had been to three other treatment centers in Florida, with minimal improvement. He was paranoid and talking to unseen persons. Very delusional. Prone to outbursts. The only treatment that helped him was a brief stay at one of the top 50 hospitals in the US in Del Ray Beach. Charlotte Behavioral Health Care may not be the most luxurious residential treatment center, but my son thought it was okay, and the staff I encountered were very professional and compassionate. They agreed to try the protocol at the Del Ray hospital since it worked. They also did their therapies. The result was nothing short of miraculous! My son came back calm and grounded, and is now at his shared apartment, finishing his certification course and cooking great meals for his roommates! He is also looking to get back to a part-time job. Of course, we take it one day at a time, but are grateful nonetheless. Thank you CBHC!
I visited someone there and really wasn't prepared for what I saw Beds just on the floor in the big tv room. The smell of urine was overwhelming I didn't get the feeling that anyone there was getting any help Two people working and one lady clearly hated her job by the way she was treating people there. I feel bad for the people still there
Every single aspect of this facility I interacted with was extremely unprofessional to say the least. Medicine: I had my medication refilled without being informed at one point and wasn't aware until a person from the meds department called a wellness check 2 months later. It took a year after my complaint for the one that did it to be let go. Therapy and 1st therapist, Branda Brunell: The other review mentioning her was right, she basically did not care about anything you said most of the time and would frequently dodge or outright ignore questions asked related to whatever you were doing. I was supposed to be in for dealing with PTSD and depression. I believe we had all of 10 minutes over 3 years for anything even remotely close to dealing with PTSD. That was dropped entirely a month in and she would immediately change the topic when anything close to PTSD would come up. Seriously, I brought up that I accidentally dug up a repressed memory in which I'm pretty sure I was being raped, and she just kept going on about some stupid bubble chart like I didn't exist. Every session over the 3.5 years I used their services was at least 10 to 15 minutes of her pushing me to go to Voc. Rehab and get a job despite my inability to leave the house on my own (From what I was told by my second therapist, they are told to do this.) The last 7 months I was working with her devolved into her dicking around on google and talking once every 5-10 minutes trying to force me to get a phone I couldn't apply for. Several times she tried to force religion on me I stopped taking her calls after she baker acted me for an accidental overdose. She was supposedly fired shortly after Crisis facility: I was taken in for 3 days, I brought the medicine I was on at the time with me. The immediately took the bag I brought with me and crammed it in a locked room. Mildly understandable, up until the next point. They refused to give me my medication for the first 2 days I was there, despite my telling them it was in the bag I brought. Even when they started giving it to me, they refused to give me my schizophrenia medication. Denial of medicine was common. Instead opting to forcefully sedate anyone that got "out of line" at least once a day. According to other patients and several of the staff, my then therapist was told to stop baker acting people several times during my stay due to being over capacity. Place was packed until the last day. 2 wood beds per room. 3 people per room. I slept on the floor every night until someone from night shift moved my stuff when I went to throw up one night 3/4 of the rooms were for women Women were frequently given preferential treatment during all female nurse shifts Men were at one point not allowed to look at the tv for a few hours and were denied the right to go to the outdoors area Women were allowed to shower in the men's bathroom and several used it to prevent bathroom visits for hours after meals. They relied on patients to inform other patients about meal time, I was not told repeatedly, 2 of the meals I got they refused to give me utensils so I had to eat taco salad and spaghetti with my hands. I wasn't seen by the doctor until day 2, he was the first person I'd seen at that clinic that actually wrote any notes on my account according to my second therapist From overheard conversations between patients and nurses, one of the patients had been in the facility for several months solely due to inability to pay her bills for the meds department. Most of her day was spent calling out trying to borrow money from people. There were a lot of issues with bullying and cliques, but I'm running out of space so that's been cut 2nd therapist, Lucy: She had no clue where Branda had left off, neither had I as 7 months prior to dropping Branda she had stopped doing anything related to therapy. Every therapy session I had for 3 months she repeatedly told me to just stop coming to therapy. Eventually I did, she later called repeatedly from her home phone begging me to come back, I refused. A quick check, she's no longer employed there either, I assume she did the same to almost every patient she spoke to.
We would give it ZERO stars if that was an option!!! Since when is it OK that any medical professional send future appointments home with a minor child and NOT contact the parent directly or at minimum do both? ZERO contact from our child's therapist, ZERO!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! WE DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!! The therapist treating our minor child never contacted us to make us aware she felt it was time for us to be involved again in future sessions she had scheduled. In fact the therapist thought it was appropriate to entrust our child to give that information to us. This is particularly troubling considering after one of the only sessions we were involved in, the therapist put in writing she felt it would take several sessions for her to work with our child to get her to a place where we could participate again. Mind you, the therapist had ONLY two sessions with our child in the 55 days that followed that session (Not Several). She was not proactive in the least in trying to resolve the issues in order to allow us to be involved again. In fact quite the opposite. 55 days is a ridiculous amount of time to make a family in distress wait. As stated before only 2 sessions took place. All of which is extremely troubling considering the court ordered therapy to be expeditious, consistent and very proactive immediately! 2 sessions over a period 55 days does not in anyway represent that. When the therapist decided it was time that we could attend the sessions going forward, she NEVER contacts us. Even though we have had conversations with her via phone and text previously. She told our child to tell us. Regardless if our child told us or not, it is not the role of our child to pass that information on to us. It would stand to reason that the therapist would update us on our child's progress before we participated in the next session. She did NOTHING!!! We have never taken our child to ANY medical professional for any appointment and had the follow up visit scheduled with the child? Nor has our child been the one scheduling the follow up appointments. This for some reason with this therapist is ok and the norm. Additionally, without consulting with us (the parents), the therapist along with our child decided to reduce the amount of therapy they were conducting monthly. If my child needed several sessions to help in their progress, doesn't it seem to reason more sessions would be necessary not less. She did it all without discussing any of it with us at all. Mind you all against the wishes of the court. Our particular therapist was extremely rude, unprofessional and combative in every interaction we had with her. To the point she would make our child uncomfortable having to defend her parents in her sessions with her. She would continually question our parenting in front of our child. Ultimately this did nothing more than weaponize our child. In future difficulties with our child, our child would use statements the therapist made about our parenting to argue with us. Professional etiquette would dictate that if the therapist had any issues regarding how we parent, those should have been conversations that took place between her and us privately, NOT IN FRONT of our child. Expressing her negative opinion in front of our child during sessions was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and definitely UNHEALTHY for our child. She was supposed to be helping our child heal, not empower her with her opinion so our child could "Quote" her therapist every time something didn't go her way. We are not sure about other therapist at this organization, but we have first hand experience with this one in particular and would NEVER recommend her for any type of child therapy of a minor! She definitely does not have the ability to separate her personal opinions from her professional obligations as a therapist!
See the bottom. The place needs to be cleaned too to bottom then a regular cleaning each day. At least they could do is wipe everything down and sweep the place. Good grief! It is a very difficult place to stay while trying to get help. One of the night Nurses, Nurse aMary is very very rude and will make you wait until she is ready to give you your meds. Sure they are scheduled but just not her schedule. Ask one time because if you go back an hour later she will make you wait even longer. I'm not sure if it's a power trip for her or if she is just evil. The doctor is easy as long as you don't expect much. He has two questions and that's it. Do you want to hurt someone? Do you want to hurt yourself? Then he is gone before like the wind. I hope you don't like cream and sugar in your coffee because they only put out a few packets. When they are gone, that's it until the next time they bring coffee. One of the nurses told me they were trying to save money and another one blamed the patients. She said people take too many or leave them in the rooms and they get ants. Easy problem to solve. Exterminator every month and have the nurse poor the cream and sugar in for the patients. I know that means they can't stand there and do nothing but they would have to watch and help you. God forbid they help people that need it. Don't expect fresh fruit unless you ask for it at meal time or break time. Eventually, they bring enough for about half the people. You should've seen everyone get in line hoping to get an orange. Saved it for last, not because it's unimportant but because it's where it came out. There are plenty of other things that need work but this place needs to be cleaned! Yes, it's filthy. Everything needs to be scrubbed and wiped down. If you don't have flip flops or slippers, your socks will be black in an hour. At least you are helping them clean the floors a little. Definitely needs work but could be a decent place with some effort on the staffs part.
run the other way save yourself!!!! if you aren't murderous or suicidal when you walk in the door you soon will be. this is the most disorganized, inconsiderate, thoughtless, incompetent health facility i have ever encountered. the scheduling system is so archaic they cannot sustain an appointment schedule. they refuse to make an appointment more than 1 month in advance. but when you try to make any appointment available there is nothing available to schedule within 30 days. you cannot have a regular appointment as in ''every third thursday @0800''. because it will never be available again. your diagnosis is based not on what is actually wrong but on what drugs insurance will pay for for each diagnosis. sorry i cannot explain that better i don't understand it myself. if you have any other choice do not come here. if you have the option get out of the state of Florida before it kills you. i am not paranoid this state is a toxic cesspool. run, run, run run................
I was sexually assulted and harassed while there. I asked many employees for a grienvance form. NO ONE would give me form. Still won't. I'll try again last time tomorrow without council. At this point I may just be better off hiring an attorney. No one deserves to live through what I survived while being held there against my free will. If your forced to be somewhere that allows patients to be harrassed belittled and sexually assulted thats well, wrong! The few bad apples are causing more trauma and not allowing healing. Its ludacris.
