List of Curtis Hanson's Reviews
Had both knee and shoulder problems repaired. Excellent results. Staff has always been efficient and friendly.
Had total hip replacement done 9 weeks ago. I was scared of ever having surgery. Dr Hansen put me at ease the first time we met. He is a pro in every way and his staff is great. My hip and mobility are unbelievable at this point. I would send any friend or family member to him which is the best compliment I can give. Thanks Doc.
My mom had surgery on Thursday and 6 days later not only did they never follow up but we’ve called SIX times and no call back. My mother is in a great deal of pain and having a horrible reaction to the pain meds including itching her skin until it bleeds and I have never my husband has had 3 shoulder surgeries in my life experienced patient care like this man.
I have been a patient of Dr Hanson’s for a little over 2 years when I began to have pain in my left knee. At that time I was beginning to lose the cartilage on one side of my knee and we began to discuss the possibility of a partial or total knee replacement in the future. I was not ready to consider either and so Dr Hanson offered me several different options to try and relieve the pain. He was never pushy but just let me come to terms with what was to become the inevitable for me. Finally after 2 years of procrastinating I knew I could no longer put it off. He took his time with me and answered all of my questions and did his best to allay my fears. I had my LTKR on 7119 and I am 9.5 weeks post op. He performed minimally invasive surgery which in itself is amazing. The recovery was nothing like I had built up in my head. The pain was very manageable using mostly OTC meds. I graduated from the walker to the cane after 2 weeks and totally off the cane at 4 weeks. I have excellent ROM and extension and I was able to return to work at 7 weeks. I should be discharged from physical therapy soon but I’m riding the recumbent bicycle I’m back on the treadmill walking only and I’ve gone back to water aerobics twice a week. I’m so grateful that Dr Hanson gave me my life back. The only regret I have is that I put it off so long. Dr Hanson is a skilled and knowledgeable surgeon who has an excellent bedside manner.
My 84 yo father in law had his knee replaced and said it was the best decision he ever made. Dr. Hanson is amazing and a patient doc who really made this experience great. Well done and thank you He can now go on a trip back to the Philippines to see his family.
Waiting time in office to see Dr. Hanson ridiculous. He spent all of 5 minutes after waiting an hour and 15minutes for him to come to the room. He seemed to be slightly rushed explained to me what he believes is wrong and quickly sends you on your way to get more testing done. So if you are looking for good bedside manner he is not the guy. Is he polite yes. No apologies for my wait time though. Cant say what I think at this point but Maybe it was because I was irritated from waiting so long. So will I go back for my follow up with him after my testing ? Yes. If no other reason than to hopefully have a better impression of him and give him a 2nd chance. The rest of staff all very nice. I guess I am one of those people that wants to feel like your doctor cares about helping you and wants to do right by you even if deep down they could care less. Some doctors can portray this character trait some cannot. I work for doctors and I know how respect for patients can go a long way.
He is very personable easy to talk to. He has only given my shots to reduce the pain in my knee. I think that process has probably come to an end as the pain returned win 3 days. He is hard to reach no email address he doesnt return phone calls.

I went to see Dr. Hanson after going to 4 top ortho surgeons at Duke who would not replace my knee due to my age. Nevermind that I have rheumatoid arthritis and per MRI bone on bone. Dr. Hanson immediately discussed a resolution and was very personable and took his time talking to my husband and I. Surgery scheduled and Ill report back afterwards but if our prior meetings is any indication of his surgical abilities then I am in great hands.
Take your child elsewhere for treatment or at least get a 2nd opinion on everything. Our 2.5yearold son had a broken arm and Hanson took the cast off at 2.5 weeks going against his own protocol he gave us in the initial visit that a cast would be on for 46 weeks. When we questioned the change Hanson got arrogantsnippy with us and said that if we just wanted the hassle of a [useless] cast for 2 more weeks then he would put one on. We should have just asked for a different doctor right at that moment...As a safeguard we asked for a custom splint to be made as a precaution out of the moldable ortho plastic. Hanson informed us that such a splint could not be made read to the end for more on this. Again we messed up by believing the doctor and not heading straight over to another ortho practice. One week later our remember 2.5 yearold son REBROKE his nothealed arm when he simply lost his balance while standingwalking and put his hands out to catch himself. We actually called Wake Ortho and asked for Hanson to give themhim a chance to fix what he had messed up. We never even got a response from Hanson and Wake Ortho gave us the runaround and made no attempt to help. Also they insisted on charging us for Hansons botched treatment and threatened to send us to collections. Meanwhile our tiny son had to endure another 6hour visit to the local ER to have his arm set.Needless to say we did not return to WakeHanson and had a much better experience at Triangle Orthopaedic. and guess what? That custom splint out of moldable plastic that we asked for and Hanson said was impossible? The doctor at Triangle must be a magician because he recommended that on his own and made it right in the office. Sure it wasnt cheap but it was a lot cheaper than another trip to the ER and gave our son several more weeks of protection beyond the cast while also being able to take it off for showersetc.Anyway Im sure Hanson has done good work for some but this was a horrible experience caused solely by his misjudgement and lack of expertise. He did not make any effort to accept blame resolve his error or try to ease our pain. I only hope he can learn from his mistakes as we have learned from ours...

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
