List of Great Expressions Dental Centers-Big Bend's Reviews
My daughter was scheduled for Fri and they called they had a sooner appt. I sign in and never get called. After 25 mins i go up and the lady says the dentist does not have credentials for mcna. Then says i can wait till next week and go up the road. This place is a joke.
Able to fit me in same day for a dental emergency. Professional friendly staff. Expert help.
Every time I bring my child to their appointment I wait longer than 30 minutes. Not only do we wait way past the appointment time, nobody even greets us. I stood there for 10 minutes while they all talked, went and got coffee, typed on the computer. Nobody took two seconds to acknowledge nor speak. I thought maybe it was just me but they did it to the gentleman that came after me as well. It’s unprofessional and I wish insurance would cover a different dentist.
The scheduling squeezed me in twice, last minute, for an emergency and follow up, the billing was super flexible, the doctor called me after hours when I had a concern, and the assistants were equally helpful in relaying concerns. It doesn’t feel like other corporate dentists. It really feels like it’s people first.
I have to say the doctor did an amazing job with my daughter…… BUT! I am writing to express my concerns regarding my recent experience at Great Expressions Dental Center on Big Bend in Florida. I was charged twice for services, an error that caused unnecessary inconvenience and raises serious concerns about the administrative oversight at your practice. Additionally, no one reviewed the patient charts to inform me that the insurance had already paid (which means that there was no pre-authorization completed) which should have been a standard procedure. It was clear this is not an isolated issue, as when I answered the phone, the staff member, ANGEL, immediately mentioned there was a credit on the account, as though anticipating my concern. This interaction left me wondering how many other patients may have unknowingly double-paid for services. Angel’s dismissive tone during the conversation only added to my frustration and made the situation feel unprofessional. I expect this matter to be addressed promptly, and I request transparency about what corrective measures will be implemented to prevent such issues in the future.
We been coming to this location from quite some time for our kids. What's hilarious is they kept us waiting for 30 minutes to tell us that our dental insurance doesn't cover our kids, their names are on the cards sweetheart..., then we said we'd pay out of pocket which was $400 for both, then they wanted another $400. It's disgusting how greedy businesses can be & how the staff see no issues with that. All my kids needed was their teeth cleaned. Shouldn't be that hard or expensive.
Communication and team work spot on. Made every effort to make sure I was comfortably relaxed and at ease.
If you're there for your kid, consider going somewhere else. You're not allowed to go in with your child, that's problem #1. Kid had been there twice to pull a lose tooth. It was quick and efficient. The third (and last time) my kid was there for a cleaning. It took them 15 minutes to take x-rays, brush his teeth and put 'vitamins' (their words, that's what they called it) in his teeth. It didn't hit me until we got home that the time spent was too short and his teeth were dirty with gunk still in between his teeth. I took pictures and called the office FOUR times. Every time I told them I had a grievance, they would put me on hold. After 20 minutes, I'd call back and same thing happened. Until I directly asked them to NOT put me on hold and demanded to be tended to. I explained what happened, of course they denied everything. The person on the phone even argued with me that they would never tell a kid they're putting 'vitamins' on their teeth since that's not the proper word for it. My kid is old enough and has been getting cleanings since the age of 3, to know what fluoride is. My kid insisted they said 'vitamins'. Kid said the 'vitamins' were rubbed on his teeth with a finger. Parents aren't allowed in with kids, so I wasn't there to confirm, but I choose to believe my child, who is old enough to understand what's going on. I wasn't given time to ask questions, talk to a doctor, look at the x-rays. But the lady came out with a long list of expensive 'highly necessary' procedures to be done. No, thank you. I've submitted a formal complaint with the company and the insurance. ***On another note (and I really hope a manager reads this). During our first visit, earlier this year, I was begrudgingly allowed to go in with my kid, but had to star out side the room watching, which is fine. BUT, there were 3 employees right next to me (2 females, 1 male) chatting in Spanish about their personal lives. The male was dressed as if he worked there as a tech/doctor. The male then proceeded to tell the females personal details about his ex-wife and kids and how much he hates her, among other details that included bad words. Right there in front of everyone. I know details about that male's family and dating history that I didn't need to know. Maybe they assumed I don't speak Spanish. all 3 of them looked directly at me multiple times, as if they were trying to figure out if I was understanding their conversation. I could even tell you what country they're from, as I recognized their accent as my own. But I'll leave it there. ***
Horrible, very professional and nasty manger Yari C. She didn't greet me after her staff mishandled my file instead she dismissed me without owning her mistake as a leader. She made her presence known by telling me she was the office manager when her staff scheduled my kids for the 2nd time with the wrong Dr and she didn't apologize for the inconvenience. She is unqualified to identify herself as a manager and she needs to be more concerned with the cleanliness of the establishment and customer service. She's a horrible representation of a leader. No empathy was expressed, instead she laughed in my face and told me to take my kids to another dental office for care.
We’re new patients at the big bend location. I’m not sure if this is how it’s done now, but I’m really uncomfortable with the fact that I cannot accompany my 5 year old minor child back in his appointment. Not only did we not meet with his dentists, at no point were we introduced or provided a chance to ask questions. At the end we were handed a list of recommendations and had a large sum circled at the bottom and talked to in an accusatory way that we aren’t brushing or flossing our sons teeth which is FAR from the case. Whenever I did have questions, I got the impression the front desk staff didn’t know beyond paying for the appointment and scheduling the next one. When I asked to speak with the doctor or look at his X-rays or something that would help me understand, I got the impression I was inconveniencing the provider. I should not have to go home and turn to google after an appointment where I’m being told to pay almost $1000 for “necessary ” procedures.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
