Rude condescending, does not listen, does not care about people.

My first issue takes me back to July. I had an appointment set with Dr. Goman. I had received a phone call just about a week before my appointment telling me that the “new provider would be on vacation and I needed to reschedule.” I was very taken aback and confused. I was told that Dr. Goman left the clinic and someone else took over. I asked why I wasn’t informed. The response was “You should have gotten a message on the portal.” Now, I’m kind of old school and hardly ever look at the portal so I was very irritated that I was not informed via phone call prior, email, or letter. My second issue was when I got to the clinic for my appointment. I arrived at 12:45pm and Carmen was the person up front. She said that “she’d check me in at 1 since everyone is still at lunch.” Not thinking anything of it, I said ok and went to sit down. At 1:10, I get a phone call and it’s Carmen asking me if I’m still coming to my appointment. I said that I was in the lobby waiting already. She said “oh that’s right”. No sorry about that or anything. I was the only one in the lobby!! My last issue is with Dr. Laporta. He came in and greeted me and sat down and said very rudely “So why are you here?” I explained that it was a 6 month follow up for my thyroid and for depression medication. He flat out says “I can tell you right now, I’m only going to refill 30 days worth of the depression meds and you’re going to go see a psychiatrist.” I was so taken aback by that. I told him that I have been on some sort of antidepressant for over 20 years. I have seen several therapists and that doesn’t change that I still need these meds. I have NEVER been forced to see a psychiatrist to continue my medication. Then he proceeded to ask me how long I was on the thyroid medication. I said probably since I was around 10 or so. Then he said “Well it’s such a low dose that you probably don’t even need to be on it. If you want to, that’s fine, but you really don’t need it.” I told him I had blood work done last week (ordered by Dr. Goman) in preparation for this appointment and he says “That still won’t change my mind” which leads me to believe that he didn’t even look at the results!! I cannot believe how insulting he was and so dismissive to anything I said. He also never examined me at all. Not even to listen to my heart. He literally just came in, shook my hand and sat and talked. That was it. So needless to say, I will be looking for a new doctor and I will be reporting him to the Florida Department of Health.

The reviews are true. He’s not even my primary doctor. He’s a physician that was in the office the day I came in when my regular doctor wasn’t available. I’ve even never met the guy before my first encounter with him. He was very sarcastic, rude and assumptive. Would not recommend him if he were the only doctor in a 50 mile radius.

BEWARE: Today, I visited this site to have some pre-employment screenings done and had the worst experience by provider, Mark Laporta, MD. I totally understand the 1.7 health grade rating as evidenced by my experience mirroring that of other patients who were treated by him. He did not knock on the door prior to entering the examination room and I had not fully changed into the gown. Fortunately, I had my pants on; however, I was topless and had to cover up with my shirt as he entered unannounced. He laughed , apologized and closed the door and then entered again without knocking moments later and at by that time I was dressed. I thought this was an unintentional until I reflected on the remainder of my visit. The entire session he was blowing his nose, wiping his nose with his hand from under his mask, did not use sanitizer nor wash his hands paired with coughing a couple of times and constantly sniffling. Thank fully I had my N95 mask on and remained 6ft from him at all times. Halfway through the session he asks if I would like a chaperone to accompany us into the room and proceeds to tell me that another practitioner was reported to have been allegedly inappropriate with a patient to which he stated that he knew the practitioner and does not believe he violated the patient and stated that other staff know the provider as well and does not believe the patient. After telling me I passed the employment physical exam he proceeds to advise me on weight-loss medication I am taking warning me to not become addicted to which I informed him I take half the prescribed dose and am being well-managed, engaged in therapeutic support and practiced meditation. He states, “therapy is a waste of time, don’t waste your time on that” and dismisses my response in that I have no history of addiction and am nearing my BMI goal. He then looks at me up and down and states that he isn’t meaning to be inappropriate after violating me with his eyes and states that I am a very delightful woman, looks good, asks me how much weight I lost and stated he is unable to take Weightloss medication and references insinuating he has battled with addiction. I believe this was outside of his scope and very unprofessional. Prior to stepping out to ensure his form was printed, he jokingly referenced stating he hopes not to walk in on me while I’m changing again. Upon his return, he felt the need to end the visit by stating I presented with “pressured” speech and stated I am “very bubbly and talk too fast” and this can “set other’s off” and if I feel myself “wanting to go off on others, to bring myself down.” None of which she “assessed” was accurate of relevant to my admission at the clinic. I am very medically literate as an acute care case manager and Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Therapist and would advise others not to be seen by this provider as he is inappropriate in practice. Best practice would be for him to practice within his scope, follow hygiene practices and exercise professionalism. No wonder he has practiced as a Locum provider since 2011 as his reputation seems to have preceded him and not in the best way.

I remember him when he practiced in Vero Beach replacing Dr.John Song may he R.I.P. Yes, He carried a baseball bat stuck in the back of his pants. He feared that his patients were going to attack him if they couldn't get the meds that they wanted. He even feared me but I told him. please. I'm not a violent person so please put the bat down. I would love to see him again because he was very funny and kind and he cared. He just has to be careful of the patients that he accepts.These kids and adolesants are very dangerous when they need drugs. Even his staff was wonderful. Thank you, Ruth P Anderson, I remain

While I can appreciate that some people get into the medical field due to their genuine interest in the science and study of disease, those people should contain their practice to the research field and not to patient interaction. This is one of those individuals. He is too concerned about sharing how knowledgeable he feels is is on a topic to attend to the care and concern of the patient. While I am certain he has no self awareness of this, he presets himself as incredibly arrogant and uncaring. He should not be practicing medicine that requires patient interaction.

Was extremely disrespectful wouldn't listen to any concerns, questions, and wouldn't let me finish a word. Will never be coming back to this MD again

I would give this man negative stars if I could. HORRIBLE bedside manner. Doesn't listen to you at all.

Rude! Dismisses things as in your mind. Makes judgments about you without even knowing you! Writes disparaging things in your summary that could affect your future treatment. Be very careful about this man.
