Jodie Calain's Online Review Report Card

My husband and I both see Dr. Calain. We don’t agree with some of these reviews. Dr. Calain is caring and very thorough. We have never been rushed. We switched to her from another doctor who wasn’t interested in us. She is! She listens to us and has sent us to specialists as needed. We are very happy to have found Dr. Calain

Perhaps the protocol for a physical exam has a new format. I have always thought that an exam would include the following: checks heart and lungs with stethoscope, looks in mouth, checks ears, presses on abdomen. None of this was done. Dr Calain never got out of her chair. I just read her visit notes, and the one concern that I spent considerable time discussing with her, was not even included in her notes. When I did my pre op for my surgery at Mayo clinic, the nurse who reviewed my EKG, told me to discuss a concern she had about my EKG. I had suggested she look at the EKG that was performed at FLagler ER, July 2022. She said she would have her assistant locate it. Better yet, she should have said, we have the equipment here, we will do one. I never heard back about finding the July EKG, nor did I get a call about lets do an EKG-wasn't even in her visit notes!

I urge you to not entrust JODIE CALAIN, DO with your medical well-being. I do, however, recommend her colleagues RUDRA BEHARRYSINGH, MD and DANIEL DONOFRIO, MD. This site limits the length of the review so long story short: Jodie Calain lacks compassion and empathy. I was a patient at this practice (Flagler Family Medicine) for 20 years with Dr Gunn. When he retired I made the mistake of switching to her instead of another physician there. During my last visit, Dr Calain was very callous towards me - even though I was tearful because of the pain I was experiencing (due to a herniated lumbar disc). Even my husband noticed that she had "no compassion" (his words) - and he rarely notices anything except sports! Do not entrust your medical well-being to this woman! Patient who are elderly, ill, injured, in pain need compassion and she is devoid of it. She needs to resign from medical care and go into a line of work where compassion and empathy are not required.

Dr. Calain was dismissive, did not review the written information that I brought( it was a 15 minute acute appointment & I was trying to provide helpful documentation.) My rheumatologist's office attempted to fax additional documentation before my appointment. They told me that they tried 5 times and the fax was always busy. Unfortunately, Dr. Calain did not trust me and said that she would wait to hear from the specialist. I signed a release of information, waited a week and called for follow up. Dr. Calain did not contact the specialist. If you need a prescription she will assist you. I do not recommend her a a primary care physician.

I saw Dr. Calain in the Murabella office. I think she is a fine and thorough Doctor. I was reading her reviews and I don't agree with those. The more I get to know her, the more I like her personality. I also feel she has a dry sense of humor. I like her! I think she very good at what she does. She is very smart. She gave me a thorough exam. She sat with me and answered all my questions, helped me to understand my blood work, and I never felt rushed by her! After she went over my blood numbers and then sent me to an hematologist, to find out my underlying problem. I feel that was the BEST thing she could have done for me. I never felt rushed and I feel her staff, Brenda and Charity were also awesome. I'm from NY and I've seen a lot of good and bad Doctors and Dr. Calain is a Good Doctor! I'm so glad I found her and that she is both my Doctor and my Husband's Doctor. We are confident in her work and completely trust Dr. Calain!

Treats patients as if they are a bother. Didn't bother to introduce herself or ask my health status. If you are interested in a pure prescription writer, this is your doctor. I receive more professional treatment at the jiffy lube than here.

Dr Calain now practices at Flagler Family Medicine in St Augustine, FL. Do not make an appointment unless you appreciate complete indifference in your doctor. I stood up and extended my hand when she entered the room and tried to introduce myself and she walked past me and sat across the room. She made notes and asked very few questions without making eye contact the entire time. I had a specific question that she did not answer and suggested I see another provider about that concern. Awful.
