List of Stanley Cohen's Reviews
Dr Cohen has been a life saver for my children. We have been 11 years with Dr Cohen and his knowledge, compassion, respectful, his attention to my children needs is a plus. He is like family.
I should have listened to all of the ( ONE STAR) reviews. They are right! I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt though and boy was I so wrong! These people are completely unprofessional and lack any empathy, which is completely insane considering that they are a practice for mental health patients! Here's the truth, they do not care about your mental health. They do not care if you miss an appointment because you have the flu or were sick, which was my case. And they absolutely do not care if you run out of any of your prescription medications, even if they have nasty withdrawals and side effects. In fact, they will leave you in despair wondering how you will get your medicine refilled because they point blank DON'T CARE. They are completely irresponsible. Talking to the lady at the front desk with the long brown hair, is like talking to a robot, or Oscar the grouch! She completely lacks any kind of care for any human beings that call to make appointments. She is rude, shames you and does not give a damn that she works in a mental health office. The fact that they would put this kind of person at the front desk to greet you and answer the phone is also crazy and incompetent. She literally scares people away, is completely unfriendly and never ever smiles.. all she cares about is the money. By the way if you miss just one appointment it's a hefty $75 fee. And if you go over the normal time you were supposed to be there, you will get charged as if you were making a collect phone call by the minute! How sweet. That way when you come in next time your bill will be even more expensive than last time. The best part is they won't give you any advanced warning of this, you'll just find out when they hit you with the bill. I'm completely disappointed and disgusted with this place. They are in the mental health field and they should never ever be treating people the way that they are. In fact, they don't even treat you like you are a person, they just treat you like you're a dollar sign. If you don't give them the money they want and the tricky fees they want you to pay, then they will kick you to the curb.. medicine or not, they are completely unethical and do not care about you! I write this because I want you to be forewarned and not fooled by these people. Go somewhere else, even if it costs more it will be worth your money to go to someone who actually cares about you. Who is competent, who knows how to greet people, and has empathy for their patients, instead of trying to make them go broke in the process of simply trying to take care of their mental health. This place is bad for your mental health in a nutshell. I will never be returning here. Just like all of the other people who left one star, they are telling you the truth, so listen. Maybe the first couple of visits will be fine if your lucky, but eventually you will see their true colors and you will wish you had listened, like I wish I had listened to the other 1 star reviews. I'm glad I went though, because now I know the truth about this office and I can share a truthful review for everyone else, so that you can hopefully avoid this unethical so-called mental health practice, that Dr. Cohen runs... My suspicions are that they probably won't be there for too long, as their building is not nice, clean, or professional. Neither are the people. They should be ashamed quite frankly of how they are taking advantage of people who are vulnerable and truly need help with getting medications for the health of their mental health. Good luck! So happy I'm free from this place!!! 👋 Bye!!!!
Denying medication refills due to a missed appointment (which was promptly paid for and rescheduled) is unethical and a clear violation of the spirit of the Hippocratic Oath. This practice seems aware of how unethical this is, as they cited a "waiver" my husband signed releasing them from responsibility in these situations. This is not how a mental health practice should operate.
Beware: Harmful and Unprofessional Practices Dr. Cohen may be a competent psychiatrist, but the office staff is an absolute nightmare. I, an established patient, missed one appointment but immediately called to reschedule, pay for the missed session, and request a refill for a mood stabilizer (not a controlled substance). Despite these proactive efforts, I did not hear back from the the staff about my prescription request and followed up the following week. At that time they refused to provide a two-week supplemental prescription until my appointment—two weeks away! When I followed up about the refill, the receptionist scolded me, saying, "This is why people keep their appointments." Her tone was dismissive, judgmental, and frankly, cruel. Mental health practices should support their patients, not shame them. This behavior is not just unprofessional but feels malicious, especially when dealing with vulnerable individuals relying on these medications to function. The staff also claimed I signed a waiver allowing them to withhold medication. This practice of weaponizing rules against patients in need is both harmful and unethical. Judging from other reviews, and the "advisory" signs plastered throughout the office, this is a pattern with this practice—using rigid policies and a condescending attitude to deny care. Mental health professionals should prioritize patient well-being, not make them feel worse. If you're considering this practice, beware: you might get decent care from Dr. Cohen, but you'll have to survive the gauntlet of his sadistic staff.
I have had the privilege of knowing Dr. Stanley Cohen for over two decades and I can confidently say that he is an exceptional psychiatrist. His patients adore him for his warm, friendly, compassionate, and understanding demeanor. Dr. Cohen has a remarkable ability to connect with his patients on a personal level, making them feel heard and valued. Not only is Dr. Cohen a highly skilled clinician, but he also possesses a wonderful sense of humor that helps put his patients at ease during their sessions. He truly goes above and beyond to provide the best care possible to those in need of mental health support. It's no surprise that Dr. Cohen has built a reputation as one of the most respected psychiatrists in our community. The highest compliment I could give is to say that if I had a family member in need, Dr. Cohen would be the first psychiatrist I'd recommend. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking high-quality psychiatric care - you will not be disappointed!
Dr. Cohen was unprofessional during my first meeting with him and shared many details about his personal life. When I asked for a virtual appointment for my follow up because I had my children with me unexpectedly, he refused and they tried to charge me for the visit. His office manager was the middle person and stated that Dr. Cohen would wonder why I didn’t have my childcare set up beforehand. It is harmful and shameful to treat patients in this manner, especially a mental health practice!
Dr. Cohen and his staff are wonderful. Dr. Cohen respects the patients input. Unlike many doctors: Dr. Cohen does not interrupt and his manner and humor truly puts a patient at ease. Never ever feel rushed.
We adore Dr. Cohen and his staff! Particularly Shanan. They are so kind and compassionate, take the time to truly listen, and prescribe the right meds. We struggled for years trying to find someone that actually cared about my daughter and would listen rather than just throwing random meds, that didn’t work, at the problem. My daughter loves Dr. Cohen and he has improved the quality of our life so much. We will be forever thankful.
Dr. Cohen & his staff is truly amazing! Such a caring group that truly goes above and beyond!
these reviews dictate their quality of service. I waited a month before my appointment, was never informed that it was going to take one hour, but my chart was never reviewed until 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment. I was very disappointed due to their lack of communication and professionalism. Now, I have to start all over again, and there is not one office in the area that's accepting new patients.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process.
