Best doctor ever!
My grandson has gone to Dr. Diaz for 6 years. Dr. Diaz is very caring. He listens to the patient. He does a through exam. His office staff are kind & efficient. He runs on time. We never have to wait.
Our son's seizures started at age 17 so Dr. Vasquez-Diaz was only his neurologist for a couple years time before we had to transition to an adult neurologist. He was very knowledgeable in helping us begin to understand our son's complex seizure disorder. Our son has special needs and Dr. Vasquez-Diaz was great with him.
Dr. Vasquez-Diaz does not like to be questioned about anything. He becomes very defensive and assertive when you question anything he says. He takes these types of things very personal rather than being willing to educate his patients and their parents. After an episode at the hospital where he was extremely unprofessional, rude and hostile towards us in a very sensitive time we changed to a completely new neuro and practice. Our sons diagnosis that he provided of myoclonic epilepsy (after only ONE EEG) has since been reversed to an accurate diagnosis of febrile seizures since changing providers. All in all, if you are okay with being told what you are to do with your child without questioning anything or acquiring a better understanding of your child's situation and are okay with poor bedside manner then I would say he is the guy for you. Otherwise, I would recommend going with another office and/or neuro in the practice he works for if you have to use them.
I do not recommend Dr. Vasquez-Diaz. Our son began having seizures at 6 months old when he would have a high fever. Based off of ONE EEG that was conducted in the hospital when he was very sick, high fevers, and was having seizure activity from the fever, Dr. Vasquez-Diaz diagnosed him with Myoclonic Epilepsy (this was not an accurate diagnosis and has since been revised by our current neuro to febrile seizures). Any time our son would have seizure activity when he was sick and I would call it in or tell the doctor about it at office visits he would just increase his seizure meds....to the point where we felt uncomfortable giving our baby such a high amount of Keppra for his age/weight. Dr. Vasquez-Diaz does not like to be questioned and becomes very rude when you do question just about anything. I had a very bad experience with him when my son was admitted to the hospital as I requested to see a different neurologist as we were in the middle of transitioning our son to a new neurologist as we were not satisfied with the care provided to our son by Dr. Vasquez-Diaz. Unfortunately, he was the only neuro available to review our sons EEG at the time so we compromised with the hospital and allowed him to review the EEG. He took our request to the hospital very personal and was extremely unprofessional when he came in to discuss the EEG results. Rather than focusing on the results of the EEG he immediately attacked me for why we no longer wanted him to treat our son, he spoke to me in a very demeaning manner, his facial expressions, tone of voice and body language were very aggressive and unprofessional. Apparently he did not understand that as a parent it is our right to change providers to whomever we, as the parents, feel is the best fit for our child....in reality it is just business...not personal...after all we were PAYING him to provide a service and we were just not satisfied. All in all, if you are okay with being told what you are to do with your child without questioning anything or acquiring a better understanding of your child's situation and are okay with poor bedside manner then I would say he is the guy for you. Otherwise, I would recommend going with another office and/or neuro in the practice he works for if you have to use that office.
Doesn't seem to care feels like you have to ask for each and everything for your child which doesn't seem right why do we go to drs for care when they seem to not care !
after the terrible experience I had with this doctor I will not stop reviewing the comments of the following doctors so I avoid future problems .. Review the comments
Dr Vázquez is very knowledgeable and a great human being. We’ve been seeing him for 3 years now. Our son’s condition is improving.
Worst dr I have EVER had to deal with! HORRIBLE! Told me my sons arachnoid cyst was so small he couldn't even see it on the MRI, I questioned him and he stated the radiologist is the one who sees them.. I went and saw another neurologist to get a 2nd opinion and when they pulled up the MRI, my husband who has no medical background pointed it out right away! It is clearly there, and not so small! He's dealing with people's lives! How can he be allowed to be so reckless! I wish I could go on!!
Just when medical problems were at the worst point for my daughter, he became distant and unhelpful. Quit trying to help us and just resigned that she would never recover.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
