Derek Hess's Online Review Report Card

My surgery was only successful for 8 months. 17,000 dollars for 8 months. I was reccomended by Dr. Howard at Yale New Haven, CT. She reccomended Dr. Hess but he only made it worse. My eyes cross more easily and I'm out 17k.

My daughter has been going to Dr. Hess Sr since she was 2. From day 1 we've had nothing but a wonderful experience! The staff is awesome as well. He may stay booked & is up there in age, but never let that change your judgement. He's good at what he does & I'm sure his son is just as good too. Thank you Dr. Hess Sr -Your "girlfriends" ☺

Dr. Hess is an amazing doctor. We’ve been going to him for there years for our son. The one and only problem is the wait. In the three years we’ve been going here, we have NEVER seen him at our set time. He’s usually running an hour to 90 minutes behind.

Dr. Hess did a wonderful job on my son’s eyelid surgery. He is a skilled surgeon, however here are the issues that I had with him and his office: Each time I went to his office, it took 1-2 hours after our appt time to be seen. My account was sent to collections for $40 after I had been to the office twice and was never told that I had a bill. Lastly, the nursing staff gave my son morphine after his surgery (they said it would help him calm down) and he stopped breathing in my arms. Luckily they were able to get him breathing again but I would never plan another surgery at All Children’s again. Dr Hess never even mentioned it.

So patient and kind with patients. Did a great job with my son’s surgery.

Terrible! Never even got to see the doctor because I sat in the waiting room for just under 2 hours and then was told 3 people are still ahead of me but yet I was there longing. Finally gave up and rescheduled with the soonest appointment being almost a month away. I think I'll just go see someone else

Was recommended to Dr Derek Hess by St Anthony's ER and was not disappointed at all. It was an impromptu visit and he accommodated me with exceptionally friendly caring and proffesional examination of my injured eye. Nothing was rushed and he took time out to consult another proffesional to set up an urgent appointment for the following day, which I might add, was completed successfully. I recommend this man and his Ophthamology team for a very caring and proffesional experience.

My son has been seeing Dr. Derek Hess for a little over a year now. Dr. Derek Hess has performed two surgeries on my son. I was worried about how my son was acting after surgery so I called his office at night and left a message. He called me back two minutes later and wanted me to follow up with him in a couple hours. He is the nicest, most caring Doctor I have ever met.

Absolutely best choice. No complaints with anything. He is the only doctor I've seen be organized in office, friendly helpful employees and the doctor does the best work. When you meet him you feel safe and trust him. He knows what he is doing and my son and I are very thankful for him. Best part my son loves him so going to doctor isn't a fight.
