Ever since my surgery in 2020 I have had many, many issues, injections, procedures and years of therapy. I've been told by two other doctors/orthopedics that I need a spinal fusion to fix these issues. I developed trendelenburg gate issues right after the surgery and could not walk for the better part of a year. Tread lightly and good luck. Do your homework.
Thomas stengel saved my life. I went through 2 surgeries with him for a spinal cord injury. Hes the reason i'm walking today!!
My husband was under this doctors care for several years. Annually his brain tumor would be "reviewed'. Years later after being told "no growth", MULTIPLE MULTIPLE brain tumors were discovered AFTER waking up blind due to his optic nerve being destroyed. Of course, the doctor is not be blamed for faulty genetics or human imperfection, but I do blame him for his incompetence and negligence of discovering what has been SO obvious to multiple doctors since. My husbands blindness I do blame on him. It could possibly have been prevented or at the very least, delayed. YOU have OPTIONS. Go to USF in Tampa. Their neuroscience department runs circles around any here in St. Pete.
Dr Stengel along with his staff extended my life by 20 years by performing Brain Mapping (Wide awake durning Brain surgery). I am blessed!!

I thank Dr Stengel for the extension of my life. Doc performed the first ever wide awake Brain Tumor Surgery in the history of Pinellas County on me back on 8-26-2003. Being wide a awake during the surgery helped Dr. Stengel map out where he could or couldn't remove part of the tumor that had the lesser amount of sacrifices. My Tumor was an Oligodendroglioma/Astrocytoma. Only 2.8% of all Tumors are Oligo-Astro. If I had too have Brain Surgery again I trust him. 18 years and still alive. The Average Life EXPEDACY IS 8-12 YEARS.
Dr Stengal has been my surgeon for about 8 years. I've had 2 surgeries on my lumbar area due to two separate herniations. He's professional, compassionate and down to earth. My life has been changed twice in a very positive way thanks to his skills as a surgeon.
Incompetent. Mother broke her neck in mid Feb. Dr put her in a collar and sent her to rehab. Canceled her follow up appointment because she has COPD and coughs, even tho she tested neg for COVID. Told her to keep wearing the collar. She went to her primary Dr and was refered to another neurosurgen and is now having emergency surgery. The break is life threatening. Do not trust this Dr. with your life.
Mother broke her neck in mid Feb Dr. put her in a neck brace and sent her to a rehab facility. After discharge he refused her follow up appointment because she has COPD and was coughing. She tested for COVID and was neg. Dr still post- poned her appointment til apr. 9th. Told her healing was slow and to continue wearing the collar. Went for a second opinion and is now having emergency surgery. The neck fracture so sever that it is life threatening. DO NOT trust this DR.
Incompetent. Mother broke her neck middle of Feb. Dr put her in a neck brace and sent her to rehab. Canceled her follow up appt because she has copd and he was afraid of Covid even tho she tested neg for infection. Now almost 2 months later, Mom went for check up with her primary and was refered to another neurologist who upon review of CT scan has scheduled her for emergency surgery. Her fracture is so severe that it is life threatening. Do not let this man any where near your loved ones.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
