List of Tom Karl's Reviews
Dr Karl is my hero. Our son Lucas was born with an undiagnosed heart condition which turned our happiest day into our darkest period of our lives. Dr Karl worked through 2 sets of open heart surgery on our newborn baby, over the Christmas holiday with absolute commitment. They "paused" the first procedure so Dr Karl could rest and regroup. Lucas' condition was coactation of aortic arch and hypoplastic aortic arch. After successfully performing these procedures Dr Karl was I instrumental in Lucas recovery in PICU. Lucas was on ECMO for an extended time (15 days) and "faded" at every attempt to let him fight for himself. Dr Karl's personal investment and commitment to trial different combinations of treatments ultimately led to Lucas now being our 11 year old son. Up most respect for this professuonal and compassionate gentleman. Time and place: Christmas holidays - 2009. Mater Childrens Hospital - Brisbane QLD Australia
Tom Karl performed three corrective heart defects on my, at the time, eight months baby at UCSF. I completely trust his superior ta skills. My daughter, Amber lives a normal, healthy life today. Thank you Dr. Karl and UCSF
Dr. Karl repaired my son's ASD/PAPVR when he was 3 years old. Excellent results. He left the hospital after 5 days. He is now 8 years old, plays baseball, is the top scorer on his soccer team, and runs a 6:34 mile. Thank you Dr. Karl and UCSF Children's Hospital staff!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
