Horrible Dr! Just unbelievably bad. Never again would I go to her.
I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum and had a dnc. Leading up to surgery, working with Dr. Esses was an absolute nightmare. She had absolute no bedside manner and made me feel like I shouldn’t have grieved it as a miscarriage. (It absolutely is.) When I asked questions about the science, (HCG levels etc.) she acted as if my uncertainty about what was happening to my body was indicative of me being deceitful or otherwise confused about the reality of the situation. She told me that I would get a call in about a week to set up the dnc which was necessary due to a risk of infection, but when I called a few days later to request a dnc earlier so that I could begin moving on, healing, and finally get back to work (you cannot go back to work for two weeks after the procedure), she asked that I drive to the clinic to discuss this with her. I then proceeded to drive to the clinic, which is about an hour away from where I live, where she began to question why I was rushing into the procedure. Her complete lack of empathy for how I felt like my body had failed and how I needed to heal physically before I could begin to move on after a very obvious failed pregnancy (I should have been 10 weeks at that time) was absolutely astounding. After the procedure, the nurse was very nice and informed me that I’d get a call from my doctor to see how the procedure went, how I’d healed, and how I was feeling, but I never received a call. I had to once again call the office to ask Dr. Esses those questions, but she seemed generally confused and annoyed that I was asking these questions. I also overheard her trash talking another patient, and she exhibited all the signs of a “mean girl” who never grew up. In an additional note, the front office staff was incredibly incompetent. At one point, they’d booked my appointment under a different name, so my grieving husband and I had to wait an additional 40 minutes for the issue to be rectified after our one hour drive to the clinic. Miscarriages are awful, and when you don’t feel heard or supported by your physician, that’s a problem. Stay away from this “doctor.”
Dr. Esses delivered my child via emergency c section at 3 am a couple days before I was scheduled to have him. Unfortunately he was in a breach position when my water broke. All went well and we are both healthy. During my pregnancy office visits went well. She was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and answered all of my first time mom questions without hesitation. Angie at the front desk was always so sweet and welcoming each time I came in for a visit. I really love Women and Children first and would use Dr. Esses again if I have another child.
Emergency C Section. Went to the ER and Dr Esses was the doc on staff. I didn't meet her when I initially went to the ER. I got blood work done with a kind nurse. I went in suspecting cholestasis. I wasn't planning a c section but a vbac, but what are plans! I needed a doctor and without ever meeting me before, or even that night, Dr. Esses agreed to take me on at 36.5 weeks. The results came back a few days later and I went to Dr Esses office and met her in person. She agreed to deliver, called a high risk doctor to confirm it was ok at 37 weeks, and she got me in the operating room at exactly 37 weeks. She was accommodating and absolutely phenomenal. I was scared. I didn't know her. I read a lot of bad reviews. But wow she was absolutely amazing. I have only fantastic memories of Esses and all her visits while I was in recovery were outstanding. I could not have asked for a better experience.
WOULDN’T RECOMMEND TO MY WORST ENEMY!! Apart from her general lack of of concern during regular pregnancy appointments, my postpartum care left me feeling stuck and alone. After eleven hours of labor and THREE epidurals, I was left in excruciating pain. Not only did Dr. Esses lower my pain medication dosage, claiming it was somehow incorrectly ordered (by her I might add), she also refused to speak to me regarding my discomfort. I waited from 10AM to 7PM to hear back from her on Day 1 of my recovery. During this time she was notified of my request to speak with her, stopped by the hospital to visit with other patients, and left telling the nurse she would see me the following morning. When her negligence was escalated to the hospital supervisor, a nurse reached out yet again on my behalf. Her response was to yell at the nurse for calling her at “8 at night for a non urgent matter”. She treats her patients worse than cattle putting in as little effort as possible to receive a paycheck.
I was diagnosed with a cyst “the size of your fist!” And esses said I needed surgery. She removed the cyst and a Fallopian tube. I trusted her and didn’t get a second opinion. I ended up with a massive post op infection. I could hardly walk. She diagnosed me with GI problems, I had to take time off work for colonoscopy prep so i could have some sort of scan done. The nurse at SH was apologetic and said that scan is so outdated it’s not even done anymore. The infection was raging, including vaginal bleeding. I went to a woman’s facility and in three minutes they diagnosed me with a severe infection. They were shocked it was overlooked. This quack won’t even diagnose properly if she thinks it’ll affect her reputation. She has a reputation. As a horrible and untrustworthy doctor. Check out her other reviews. She should have her license revoked. Stay away!!!!
HORRIBLE DOCTOR NO TYPE OF MORAL OR MEDICAL ETHICS. LACKS COMMUNICATION SKILLS. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR SHE WILL TOTALLY DISCRIMINATE YOU BASED ON YOUR COLOR AND TYPE OF INSURANCE. COMPLETELY DISRESPECTFUL AND UNPROFESSIONAL . IF YOU WANT A GOOD MEDICAL EXPERIENCE I SUGGEST YOU AVOID THIS DOCTOR . SHE ALSO WORKS AT SACRED HEART EMERALD COAST, DO NOT LET HER TREAT YOU.
The appointments were fine.....until the birth.I have never been treated in such a way. This was my 3rd child...and by far the WORST birth experience. She literally sat in front of me ( while I'm having contractions)snapping her gum rolling her eyes....acting agitated and annoyed that it was taking long. Extremely cold, not comforting whatsoever. Ended up having an emergency c section...my first. She did not listen to me at all....at the end of it..she didn't even come check up on me and speak to me,( there were issues with my uterus)..the next day I told her I thought I was going to see her after she said" I went home"...I never went back for my follow up...I just didn't want to look at her. I've never been treated in such a way.
I was referred here by a friend, who worked with Esses on two of her child's births. During my first appointment I was greeted kindly by Dr Esses, and all my questions were answered. I felt like I was the most important patient of her day. Sadly, that was my most impressive appointment. I did not see the Dr on my next appointment, due to it being my gestational diabetes test, and she was "away from the office", I was disappointed but understanding. On my next appointment, I got a "belly check" which I still am unclear on the meaning of, and told I needed to see high risk, at another clinic with a different doctor. "This has been an issue your entire pregnancy, I'm not sure why you didn't get it taken care of sooner" was the response I got for needing to see high risk; it wasn't until I got to the appointment weeks later I was told why I was even there (high BP). On my next appointment, Dr Esses dismissed me early, because her phone was ringing, leaving me with all the questions I had intended to ask, left unanswered. She left me with the nurse, which isn't as helpful, to do blood work and explain why I needed a urinalysis. After my high risk appointment, Dr Esses again dismissed my questions, and talked over me. "I don't know why you told anyone you were being induced, you don't have an appointment because I don't have time to deal with you." I have never felt so rejected by a doctor in my life! All I was doing was passing along the information given to me at the high risk appointment, that she scheduled, and was talked down to for it. I am now 4 days from induction, and I never received any birthing class resources from her or her clinic, I never received the recommend whopping cough shot booster my baby needs, and I was told through the hospital she sent me to for a NST I had been scheduled for the induction. I very, seriously, do not recommend Dr Esses. She's rude, extremely dismissive, and won't hesitate to pass you off to someone else be it a nurse or another hospital.
She delivers my baby from an emergency c-section after being induced. When being transferred form the delivery room to the operation room- my IV somehow got disconnected and I went through a c-section with no pain meds. She was a cold-hearted and treated me like I was being a wimp. It was the most horrible experience I’ve ever had.
