Not only is Grand Living at Lakewood Ranch a beautiful place so are thededicated people who work here.
The Grand Living senior citizen facility has been a life savor for my wife and me. Barbara has a number of physical problems as do we all at a certain age. Thirteen years ago she was stricken with lung cancer followed by Parkinson's Disease two years later. Two years ago I could no longer be my wife's total caregiver and had to find a facility where I could have assistance caring for her. We went to another well recognized senior facility at first. My wife however continued to lose weight and if we had stayed there I would have lost her. After several weeks we switched to Grand Living and she was happy and began to immediately gain back her weight. I believe Grand Living might well be the premier senior citizen facility in Florida. While the building is beautiful (there is a full size gym and numerous exercise classes, with Parkinson's Disease doctors indicate exercise is as important as medicine), they have wonderful entertainment and the staff is exceptionally friendly and know every ones name (that includes cleaning, maintenance and to an extent the kitchen staff). We are very much at home here and have been protected here during the pandemic. We could not ask for more.Barbara and Tom Knierim
The facility is fabulous, the staff caring and engaged, and there are LOADS of activities to keep everyone who wants to participate involved. I was so sorry to read about the previous negative review. It's not what most have experienced here.
As a Former owner of a Virginia Home Health care company of 27 years. I was mortified by the lack of compassion and care in my fathers short stay at this assisted living. Communication was poor; staff was unprofessional; and disrespectful. Sales team promised services that they did not provide. The executive director was very transparent, cold and condescending. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree here. So when making your decision to find an assisted living don't be fooled by the glitz and glamour. Moved my father a WWII veteran after 20 days. By the look of other reviews shame on me for not investigating deeper.
STAY AWAY FOR MEMORY CARE!If you are looking to put an Alzheimer's patient into their memory care, do yourself a favor and seek out another facility. My mother was transferred here and the arrival was a disaster. She was found wandering the parking lot and asking for my father (who has been dead for 31 years). Then once they got her into the unit, I was told by the nurse that she was very uncooperative about taking her meds. Why they couldn't slip it into her food or drink is beyond me. Then when I called to see how she was, both times I was connected to Deborah. She had the most miserable tone in her voice and complained about my mom packing and unpacking. I did research on this and it's very typical for Alzheimer's patients to do that when in a new place. She also said that she refused to take her meds. Why is this even an issue for someone who is supposed to be trained to take care of people with dementia? Then we were told after she had been there for only 5 days, she was going to be kicked out. We asked for help from the staff there to find her a more suitable facility. It typically takes about a month for people to get adjusted. They gave her 5 days! The director, Michelle Orlando, told us she "exhausted the search for every place in the area." My husband called 2 places the same day and we were told there was plenty of room at both. The icing on the cake was when Michelle told me "Your mother has been absolutely vile to everyone here since she arrived." This was already an emotionally draining time for me and to be told those exact words about my ailing mother told me all I needed to know. She was moved to another facility and is doing great. This is because the new facility has properly trained staff - not miserable nurses who complain about my mom and a director who couldn't even be bothered to call another facility for me. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! It's truly all top show. They entice you by showing you their facility and claiming to have properly trained staff. This is false! Good luck if your loved one comes here and experiences the anger that most dementia patients will go through. Their staff aren't trained to handle those patients. On a side note, they charged us $4400 which was fraudulent. Mom wasn't even there a month, yet they wanted to try to get over half her monthly rent on top of the $10,000 I paid them. They are truly fraudulent in their practices and what they promise people. All this while we are in an extremely vulnerable position. If this keeps one person from making the same mistake we did, I'll be happy. BTW, for those looking for memory care facility, please make sure the staff is licensed to administer alternative delivery systems such as a topical gel for benzodiazepines. This has been the saving grace at her new facility.
This place is fabulous!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
