John E. Sullivan's Online Review Report Card

I had the pleasure of having Dr. Sullivan deliver my daughter. I asked a labor & delivery nurse at SMH who she would recommend and she said Dr. Sullivan is the absolute best in emergencies. I’m thankful everyday for her recommendation as I ended up needing an emergency c-section. From the very beginning of my high risk pregnancy his calming bedside manor and knowledge put me at ease. His whole office staff is friendly, professional and explained the whole process of what to expect at each visit. They checked my insurance benefits and I knew up front what my responsibility would be. I really cannot recommend them enough.

He is an amazing doctor.

I thought that this Dr. Was for me! However BEWARE!! I called and checked with the office before changing Dr.to make sure that Dr. Sullivan would be a good fit for me. I have had poor experiences in the past and so because of my experiences I thought I had done all my homework on this Dr. When I called everything seemed to go perfectly. The Dr. Took not one but both of my insurances which was a god sent due to the fact that one of my insurances is champs VA . Buy when I asked about it the girl at the reception desk assured me that it was accepted along with my BcBS(MASS). So I set up the appointment. The day came and all went beautiful. However the Dr. Set up a following appointment for the next week, and I showed on time not thinking anything about it, because my INSURANCE was accepted until that appointment that is.. I handed my medical cards like I always do at every appointment and the new receptionist rudely hands back my cards and tells me that it will be a 50$ copay. I explained that there is no copay because of my INSURANCE, and she becomes upset with me. Saying if I do not pay the 50$ now then they will not see me. I ask why, when the Dr. Saw me just last week and my insurances have not changed since the week before. She again tells my husband and I that we can not be seen unless we pay. I tell her that I am confused with the situation. She has us sit in the waiting room and about 10 min. Later comes out to us with a piece of paper with orders for the testing that was supposed to be done in the office to be done some where else. She rudely tells us that our insurance will be accepted at this place, so go there for the test. I ask another question? If I go and have the test at this other place who is going to read the test? Her response the Dr. But isn't that going to coast me again I ask? If Dr. Sullivan has changed his mind about my INSURANCE what's the chance that it's going to change again before I come back to have the test results. Her response was oh it's not! Your going to pay like the rest of us. I have never heard of someone not paying copays. When my husband explained that there is no copay because of the type of insurance it is her response was than we just can't treat you then! My husband then said "so then you are refusing to treat my wife then" her response was well" kinda yes". Then my husband then said why would you treat her the first time with no problems, and why would you not say anything about the insurance when we handed you the insurance cards the first time we came in. Her response was "well I don't know but we don't take it. My husband went on to explain that something did not seem right and because they saw me the first time they should have to see me again unless the change was in writing. He went on to mention that being a retired police officer with the benefits that he is allotted between his insurance, and his V. A benefits if we were to pay a bill that we did not have to it could cause legal issues for us, so we would have to speak to our attorney and see if in fact what Dr. Sullivan was doing was on the up and up. If so we would pay the copay, but we had never encountered this situation before and we left . A week later I received a phone call from Dr. Sullivan himself, stating that my husband was threatening the office with failure to care and that we where going to call an attorney about the matter. When I expained that that was not the case, he explained I was being dropped as a patient.. so much for CARE! Back to looking for a new Dr. So if you use this Dr. Good Luck, Don't ask questions, hope he takes your insurance each time you go, and be ready for your words to be scrambled and then used against you until your DROPPED AS A PATIENT!

Terrible doctor who talks to their patients in a very inappropriate and demeaning manner. Does not address any concerns, but instead rushes you out of the room when you are actually frightened about a health concern. I would stay far away from this doctor if you're looking for a professional who is kind and thorough with their patients and does not demean them! Oh and you will have to call them a billion times for lab results and you will still never get them. I've never met a worse doctor!

Dr Sullivan and his office are great! Would never go anywhere else. Had a wonderful experience under their care for the pregnancy and delivery of my son.

Dr. Sullivan and his staff are amazing. I had the best experience and would recommend him so highly. My first delivery with another local doctor was absolutely horrible and I'm so thankful to have found Dr. Sullivan. He's a MD and dual degreed as well. He's calm and comforting and never rushed me at any of my appointments or delivery. Doctors like him are few and far between.

Great Doctor and friendly staff. I would recommend this office to friends and family! :-)

I've been a patient of Dr. Sullivan's for over 23 years.  He delivered both my children now 22 & 18 yrs.  I have followed him through the years to several different locations and several staff changes.  I have been seen by the nurse practitioner for at least 12 years now, due to a yearly pap exam.  For 10 plus years I have complained about pain, to make a long story short I was finally given an ultrasound.  Bingo we have a problem Houston.  It's been 2 1/2 months of waiting for a pre-op visit the office called and confirmed my appointment at 5:39 pm. I get a cancelation call at 8:50 am. Was told once again I must reschedule.  I need surgery and  was told that already and yet again I'm not important.  Dr. SULLIVAN, I hope you read this yourself and take the time personally to call your patient.  I don't think you have a clue as to how your office is running and communicating among themselves.  This is NOT how you treat a human being.
