Quigley Eye Specialists's Online Review Report Card

Now that Quigley has taken over Dr. Lamensdorf's practice, they are HORRIBLE. They cancelled my appointment in January and said they would call to reschedule. That never happened. When I called in March to schedule, I was told it would be July. Tried to get copies of my records and that has proven to be a futile attempt. I would NEVER recommend them.

Whew! My head is still spinning after spending 30 minutes in the surreal world of Dr. Lamensdorf. With an ego that is somewhere in the stratosphere, he engages you in a rather one-sided theatrical conversation during which you have to struggle to get a word in edgewise. No matter, though, because he doesn’t really seem to care about what you have to say anyway. He signals this by sitting on a stool, head pointed down towards the floor and looking totally bored while you tell your story. He tells me my vision is fine and that I have to practice using my eyes more efficiently. Then he asks me to read from a newspaper and seems frustrated when I tell him I can’t make out a thing. He has forgotten that my pupils had just been dilated by his assistant, a procedure which makes reading virtually impossible. He turns his back, exits the room without saying goodbye and raises his right arm, twirling his hand in the air. Wow! What just happened? I mean, it was entertaining in a strange sort of way, but when it comes to my health, I prefer straight-forward, boring conversation. I exit the examination room and am told by the scheduling person behind the desk that I owe a $50 specialist co-pay fee. I ask her to look more closely at her copy of my insurance card, which clearly shows a $0 specialist co-pay. She apologizes and says she made a mistake — the $50 is actually a fee for the refraction procedure. But she says she’ll submit a claim for that to the insurance company. She schedules a follow-up appointment, but I doubt that I will go back. I gave the entire experience a 3 rating. After all, for all I know, Dr. Lamensdorf may be some sort of eccentric genius. But to me, that potential genius was hidden by his weird and unorthodox bedside manner that sometimes bordered on rudeness. Still, if you can overlook that kind of behavior or maybe even find something humorous or entertaining in it, Dr. Lamensdorf may have something positive to offer.

First and last impression - Outstanding :) From the first phone call with Kathy at the front desk, to Lorraine, Karen & Sarah at check-out. Everyone is super sweet and friendly. The office and waiting areas are very clean and tidy. Dr.L is a very cool and wise man. He provided me with a thorough explanation of my exam with some much needed witty banter. I highly recommend this place to family and friends.

Dr Lamensdorf has taken great care of me for 10 years+ and most recently his staff responded Immediately to a request for a specific record from another specialist. Good stuff. Thx.

My cataracts were so bad that the Doctor would not allow me to drive after my initial visit. After surgery in both eyes ( within days ) my vision has improved to 20/20, a quality that I haven't had my whole life. The Doctor and his entire staff are to be commended on their professionalism and sincere care that was given through-out the entire process. Having difficulty reading, knitting, golfing and being sensitive to light my quality of sight was deteriorating.I went into Eye Specialists and learned about how my sight could improve with new lenses. Cataract surgery was suggested and the staff reviewed the options available. I decided to go ahead and am so grateful I did.The staff was helpful in discussing procedures, instructions, and costs involved. Reviewing videos, reading informative sheets on what to expect, pre-surgery testing and precise instructions helped me to be prepared and relaxed throughout the implant and post-operative care. I have been extremely happy with my results; I highly recommend this business.

Both my husband and I have had recent cataract surgery with Dr. Lamensdorf. We found him to be a very skilled and compassionate person. His excellent staff guides you through the process and were happy, as was Dr. Lamensdorf, to address any of our concerns. It is hard to find good people and doctors you can trust in today's world. We werefortunate to find it all here.

My vision was cloudy and I was having trouble driving. It was very annoying. Dr. Lamensdorf examined my vision, asked questions on what I expected for my future vision, what my work environment was like, and what my hobbies were. He took all that into his evaluation of what lenses would be best for ME! My surgeries were a great experience. Dr. Lamensdorf, not a nurse or assistant, took the time to actually reach out to me that evening to check on me. I was impressed with his personal concern and follow up. My vision is fabulous now.... reading and distance. My granddaughter is telling everyone the her Yaya isn't wearing glasses any more! I feel privileged to have had my cataract surgeries performed by Dr. Michael Lamensdorf, and to have experienced the care and attention of his superb team. Most important, after 18 years of foggy and vague vision (which I came to view as normal), my vision was transformed to 20/20, almost immediately. I consider the result life changing.Dr. Lamensdorf was highly recommended by several doctors at the physicians group we use in Sarasota. But because my sight is so vitally important, I took the additional step of researching his background. Seeing that he attended America’s best school for his profession, and knowing that Dr. Lamensdorf has 40+ years of experience, gave me the confidence I needed to entrust my vision to this fine man and gifted surgeon.
