It was good. But hell of a long wait.

I had to go to emergency room last night for an extremely painful ankle fractures. Every staff member I encountered during my visit was empathetic, compassionate and excellent at communication. Yes, there was a wait, but that’s to be expected at an extremely busy emergency room! Thanks especially to my ER care crew - my RN (her name escapes me; she was AWESOME), Drs Wade and Temple.

Was there last night, July 26 2021 ~ detailed all my symptoms including chest pains and shortness of breath. I included dehydration and the inability to keep anything down. I was getting sick in ER. I was unable to stay awake and was placed in isolation room with suspected COVID people. 2 hours later I get my vitals checked and I was told everything looked good. I explained that BP was high for me, but she didn’t care. My temp for the first time yesterday was 96 ~ all day yesterday it ran at 93. Probably bc I was in an icebox. The prior days it was 103. There is something I learned in nursing school years ago and that is is by the time it shows up on a vital it might be too late! 3 hours later nothing so I asked what to expect and my same nurse TERRY said we are doing the best we can it will probably be another 2 hours ~ I replied that this was absurd for emergency care and her response was simple…you can always go somewhere else. This is a great representation of organized healthcare and a level I Trauma Center

Have you heard about the doctor that was a patient & tried to advocate better care for a man in his room that was not being treated for evident pneumonia? The hospital put him in 4 point restraints! Think about thst before going near this joke of a hospital!

Five stars for the doctors and nursing staff and no stars for the admitting staff. It took over two hours when it was "not that busy" per a staff member to get seen by a nurse and or doctor. Once I was seen the treatment was wonderful and first class, However, the process of getting you checked in, admitted and then seen is not well run. There is literally no expectations set or updates on your wait time given.

They are really slow, and all of the nurses are just standing around. Someone could be dead by now.

3 hours and counting. Several people put ahead of me. Excruciating pain, bowel obstruction. I am a strong woman and am used to pain so I'm not screaming. I don't easily vomit. I stopped drinking when I got nauseous. No food since smoothie this morning, with Miralax. Very dehydrated. And they have the balls to ask if I am depressed ir suicidal!I could have made it TGH by now and would know that I was in good hands.

We sat in the waiting room for quite some time & there was a gentleman there named John in a green shirt who works at SMH & he greeted every person who came in, checked on those who were waiting, moved chairs around so that family could sit near each other, brought 2 chairs out for a dad & his young son to sit by the fish tank while waiting to be seen & John was all smiles, soft spoken & so attentive to everyone & it made the long wait far more pleasant than it would have been if he wasn't there. I was told his name is John Melons but I may be spelling that wrong. Either way, that man is a gift from God & we appreciated having him there with us.

Absolutely terrible. Slower than what's barrable, then asked about my religion inappropriate and unacceptable. I mean I get it it's a hospital but they took 5 hours to run a blood test and didn't even know they left my blood capsule on the counter. worst service ever. They didn't listen to me. I've never felt more like I just had malpractice done to me and my entire life.

If it would’ve let me leave 0 stars I would’ve! I get that we are in a pandemic. I get that we do things differently now. I however, find it completely unacceptable to leave people sitting for 4 hours in your ER and when you finally ask if you’re going to get to see anyone get the response that they were on a 6+ hour delay when they got to work that night! If you would’ve have the common decency to tell people that from the beginning we would have gladly went somewhere else prior to wasting all of our time for nothing. Luckily we were able to make it back home where our hospital did a fantastic job.
