My injury: Subscapularis full thickness tear and long head biceps tendon (LHBT) sublaxation (dislocation). After discussing my injury with 8+ surgeons around the united states everyone suggested to cut my (long head) biceps tendon (procedure known as tenodesis) and reattach it on the humerus bone (arm), since it got out of the bicipetal groove. What common sense tells us: Since the biceps tendon is not torn and attached to the shoulder (but just dislocated), the best (and minimally invasive) solution would be to put the tendon back into its groove/pulley and restructure the ligaments that hold it stable there. Dr Bennett was the only surgeon in the United States that knew how to fix the bicipital groove (or bicipital pulley) that holds the biceps tendon in its place. All others wanted to perform tenodesis (that is cut the biceps tendon and anchor it on the humerus bone (arm). It has been two weeks (almost pain free) and it seems that Dr Bennett fixed my shoulder.

My experience with Dr William Bennett has been amazing. When I got my shoulder injured I had consultations with 8 different surgeons around the United States. Dr Bennett was the only surgeon that provided reasonable solutions and common sense approach to fixing my shoulder. Combined with his expertise and 25+ years of experience he fixed my shoulder and I got almost no pain even a day after the surgery! He is a top-notch surgeon, and I feel lucky to have found him to do my surgery. He is also a really cool and friendly guy willing to go above and beyond to discuss and explain the problem as well as his approach into solving it. Flying to Sarasota for the surgery: Dr Bennett communicated along all the steps (explaining everything to me and preparing me for the surgery). The surgery was performed at the Sarasota memorial hospital at 7:30am and it went way smoother I could have imagined. Right after the surgery: My girlfriend (that went to Sarasota with me for my surgery) and I went for a 'photo shoot'! (still with my surgery gown on) to Siesta key and then had some fresh seafood nearby. The nerve blocker: My whole arm was numb for about 24 hrs, but a day after the surgery I got full movement on fingers. I got one painkiller as advised to stay "ahead of the pain". Then forgot to get the next one but to my surprise I was pain-free. I only needed to take a couple of tylenon to manage minor discomfort to sleep better. 2 days after the surgery (on a Sunday): I went to Dr Bennett's office and he removed the dressing around my arm and shoulder, and gave me instructions about what not to do and how to take care of my shoulder. Two weeks later: It has been two weeks (almost pain free) and it seems that Dr Bennett fixed my shoulder, I already feel that the tendons and ligaments are attached and working. Adult stem cell therapy during surgery: Dr Bennett recommended to do adult stem cell therapy (stem cells extracted from bone marrow) that reduces the pain and accelerates recovery. After some quick research online I decided to go ahead and do that. My impression is that stem cell therapy most likely contributed to my pain-free and speedy recovery. From my personal experience I am telling you: If you have a shoulder injury and you want the best surgeon to fix it then go to Sarasota, FL to Dr Bennett, without thinking twice. He will fix you!

No direct experience with Dr. Bennett other than brief consult and a sell-job for knee injections that my insurance wouldn't cover. (The injections were in wide use by knee docs.) OUTSTANDING:: the therapist he had on staff at time ['20]. Knew her stuff. Helped considerably. What makes me uneasy about Bennett is his total mercenary approach to medicine. He's in the most expensive medical building in Sarasota, but he's got it cut up into a few spaces so small as to be VERY uncomfortable and to raise questions about how he can keep it sanitary. Four people in waiting room is very jammed. One therapy room so tiny that you have to move sideways to get in -- there's only 2, and the 2nd is full of promo materials. I've had lots of orthopedic procedures (Ann Arbor, Stanford, Mayo Clinic), and there's a comfort vibe you get with doc & facility that is totally lacking here. He appears to have a corps of appreciative patients, but his whole image operation just makes me uncomfortable, just too mercenary.

Dr. Bennett works alone, not in a mega practice moving the masses through the door. I first saw Dr. Bennett for a shoulder injury and then an unexpected knee injury. He helped tremendously with both. Surgery wasn’t the go-to answer. He provided options and took a conservative approach. I ended up with surgeries on both injuries, used PRP and Stem Cell treatments. Both successful surgeries and excellent recovery. I appreciate that Dr. Bennett has a proprietary instrument and technique for tendon repair in my case. Dr. Bennett is a skilled and knowledgeable surgeon and an early adopter of PRP and Stem Cell therapy. He’s a good person as well.

I was a patient of Dr. Bennett and I had a very bad experience since I received a treatment that in the end did not resolve my knee pain and instead I was left with an outstanding balance, for an unprofessional service. I hope future patients can read this review and do not go through the same as I did. After the doctor being aware of this situation, he never answered my calls. So don't waste your time and money on this unprofessional person.

I find it hard to believe Dr. Bennett would speak harsh to anyone. He is not the most talkative maybe those that have had a problem with him have not approached him correctly. I have trusted him twice and find him to be a very kind and caring Dr. I have No problem with communication. The staff is also very sweet and helpful. Second review.

Although he may be a well qualified surgeon, his bedside manner leaves alot to be desired. Also, when going in for a follow up after a procedure, He asked me how I am doing which took one minute and then that was it. He could have called me on the phone for that matter. $50.00 wasted for 2 minutes of nothing. I questioned it and he said that he should have probably charge me more and walked out the door!!

He has helped me with several different injuries over the years. Most recently I had 2 PRP injections for two labral hip tears. He diagnosed with another doctor completely missed and when I got another opinion it turns out Dr. Bennett was right. Less than a week after the PRP injections I have zero pain in my hips, after living with it as a constant for over a year . I’m convinced that any other surgeon would have steered me towards surgery, and he fixed all my pain without surgery !

Dr Bennett stopped years of joint pain for me with PRP. I was so thankful to have an alternative to sketchy nerve ablation procedures. Some people on here complain about a $900 cost, but I work in healthcare and the supplies alone are almost half that! Plus there’s the centrifuge equipment. $900 is a small price to pay to not be thinking about sharp pain throughout the day, but I guess some people Value a smart phone over life without pain. Dr Bennett is trustworthy because he could make a lot more money doing surgery, but he seems to genuinely care about patients and want the best results for them, giving them BOTH surgical and non surgical options

He respects your time by seeing all his patients in person. You don't make an appointment with a specialist, take time away from work, etc, only to be handed off to a physician's assistant or nurse practitioner. I like that he gives you ALL your options and doesn't just automatically steer you to surgery or whatever your insurance pays for- he gives you ALL your choices and you can decide what's best for your lifestyle. He has treated 3 separate issues for me, all of them successfully without surgery. His PRP treatment has eliminated the need for pain medication and a scary nerve ablation procedure another doctor recommended. If you are looking for a skilled orthopedic expert to find a solution to an orthopedic problem, he is the person to see. He is not "fluffy" or "sales-y" he is highly focused on finding a solution to pain and mobility issues. If you want to hear ALL your choices and not just what an insurance company will pay for, this is who to see. I'd rather know my options and make my own choices.
