Mi nombre es Mercedes Aponte. El dia 27 de Abril del 2023, fui intervenida quirúrgicamente de la columna por el Dr. Jose Valerio. Cirugía de la cual tengo que felicitar al Dr. Valerio por ser un neurocirujano A1. Lo recomendare las veces que sea necesario. Estoy feliz y agradecida por la labor que realizo en mi cirugía. Dr. Valerio gave me back control over my life!!! My story. Worth Reading. I promise. Eight years ago, I went to my dentist, due to what I thought was just molar pain with the need of a root canal. The dentist and I got frustrated finding nothing. He then referred me to a maxillary specialist thinking TMJ was the reason for the pain. After 2 years of treatments with botox and over the counter pain medicine, the doctor got frustrated as well and referred me to Dr. Wolf, who then diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. After maxing out on Carbamazepine, Gabapentin, and steroid doses, a Gamma knife surgery was performed and 6 months of pain relief was achieved. Out of no where, the pain came back setting a new level of 10. Then a second Gamma Knife surgery was performed with zero pain relief. Dr. Wolf then referred me to Dr. Valerio, who within days performed a Balloon Compression surgery that gave me TWO YEARS of pain relief. During this time I got my life back. I dropped 40 pounds and look and feel full of life. Just recently the pain came back but UNDER LEVEL 1, and very manageable. And because of the success with the first surgery, Dr. Valerio is ready to do a second one. Eight years have passed since I saw my dentist. My advice is, if your pain takes you hostage, if you become a slave to it, if it brings you to the floor, and takes full control over your life, and makes you only think about HOW TO STOP IT, then see Dr. Valerio and seriously consider Balloon Compression Surgery. It took me a long time to come to terms with the reality that this condition DOES NOT have a cure but can be managed. Thanks to Dr. Valerio I now feel comfortable that I can now live without letting this pain have control over me ever again. Thank you Dr. Valerio.

Mi Experiencia en el Hospital fue muy buena por todo el personal que me atendió y allí trabaja, de echo llamé después de estar en casa para dar las gracias, mi pesadilla comenzó en la consulta cuando necesite un papel para presentarlo en el trabajo, perdí la cuenta las veces que llamé y las veces que allá me personé, me decían que hoy que mañana hasta que al fin me lo dieron pasadas dos semanas, ahora después de esperar tres meses para el appointment me llaman dos o tres días antes diciéndome con estas palabras, no te podemos atender ya no cogemos ese seguro búscate otro Neurocirujano o cámbiate de seguro, esto fue terrible para mi, fui a la consulta el dia 15 de noviembre y me dijo no estás en la lista y le expliqué todo lo que me dijeron por teléfono, eso es una falta de respeto hacía mi, le dije q solo necesitaba el papel donde me dan el alta para entregarlo en el trabajo, Gracias a Dios estaba bien prometieron mandármela por correo y aún la estoy esperando, la muchacha q allí me atendió me pidió disculpas y me dijo que el seguro solo pagaba hasta 90 días después q era supuestamente esta consulta, cosa que nunca se me explicó a mi, me he sentido ofendida y maltratada , después que cobran no les interesa nada más es horrible, se que somos un número, pero un poco de tacto a la hora de decir e informar, trabajo en una sala de Rehabilitación y en Cuba fui Enfermera por 15 años, Espero q algún día no muy lejano me envíen el alta, Espero y ojalá lo que me ha sucedido a mi les sirva de experiencia y no le pase a alguien más, muchas gracias.

I entry to the hospital for the emergency I had a numberless of medical condición like, pain in the stomach, nauseas, vomiting, diarrhea, my legs and my arms were sleeping, my vision was clouding, I feel dizzy and discomfort in my head. After the lab’s results they told me the level of sodium in my body was low, but they did not know what was the cause of that, then they did me a CT Scan on my stomach and the result was negative, after that they did me a CT Scan in my head and they discovered a tumor in the Pituitary gland at that moment Dr. Jose Valerio explain to me everything about it, he told me that I have three choices first leave it like that and checking regularly, second surgery and third radiation , he recommended surgery because it was the best and fastest procedure to respond to my problem , the tumor was affecting the Hormones production (ADH) that was the reason my sodium was low. I did not expect that news I wanted discharge from the hospital and look for a second opinion. The same day they gave me discharge, when I come back to my house I started to feel bad and in the middle of the night I decided to come back again to the hospital I arrival to the hospital in worse condition than the first time. I then decided to surgery, I trust in God I ‘ll be okay and him used Dr. Jose Valerio to proceed with Endonasal Tendoscopic Pituitary Tumor Resection. The surgery was an success, no pain, no scar, no bruises, no swollen, no sore, all the procedures was through the nose. I am very grateful to Dr. Jose Valerio, him team work , all staff of Palmetto Hospital for the attention and pronto recovery. I am very happy to take the decision, now I feel like new, I already come back to work and every body told me I look great after the surgery 😀 I was surgery June 24, 2021, the same day my daughter delivery a beautiful girl, thank to Dr Valerio I has the privilege to be grandmother. Isaias 33:24 And no resident will say: “ I am sick”. The people dwelling in the land will be pardoned for their error.

Doctor Valerio and Doctor Dolorit changed my life! I will be forever thankful with them for giving me back my quality of life, i had cervical disk c5 and c6 dislocated do to a fall, it really was affecting me and they told me not to worry, I was feeling nervous but I’m glad I made the right decision! I feel better than ever I will always be grateful. Thank you to all the staff at larking hospital south Miami for being part of my surgery and my recovery.

Estoy muy agradecida con El Dr José Valerio y su staff que hicieron un trabajo excelente, me siento una persona nueva, me operaron de spondylolistheis de la L4 sobre la L5 el dia 13 de Julio y ya hoy 15 me están dando de alta caminando como si no hubiera pasado. Dios lo Bendiga y lo proteja para que siga aliviando el dolor de personas como yo que ya no podía vivir con esos dolores constantes 🙏 Tampoco puedo dejar de mencionar al personal de Larkin Hospital que en todo momento estuvieron atentas a mis necesidades.
