List of David W. Dorton's Reviews
I went to Bay Dermatology in Spring Hill and had to wait almost 90 minutes. This was apparently unusual according to fellow patients but what stood out was that not one staff member apologized at any time. There were 3 people standing due to lack of chairs in the waiting room and no staff observed this, thought it wasn't right and found more chairs. Then when I saw Dr Dorton he was brusque, arrogant and then finally rude. He obviously resented the fact that I had used alternative treatments and would probably do so again. I wanted information and was in fact open to his professional opinion but the truth is he didn't want to hear my questions or spend any time with me. In our (literally less than 5 minutes together) he ended by saying "You are just going to to what you have been doing so why am I here?" Then turned around and walked out. My jaw hit the floor and thankfully his assistant spent twice as much time giving me useful information and answering some question. HE should be a
Dr. Dorton is thorough in his reviews, and if anything is questionable he will not hesitate to make a good determination. He is my daughter and wife's dermatologists also. He is matter of fact, but I do not question his concern for my health.
I have been seeing Dr. David Dorton, for over 20 years and my wife has also. He is the best. He is up-to-date on everything. My wife and myself would recommend him.
Yes I would recommend Dr. Dorton to family and friends. I've been going to Dr. Dorton since I moved to Spring hill Florida back in 2004 and will continue with Dr. Dorton. He is easy to talk to and his assistants are all helpful and easy to talk back and forth to. I wouldn't be with him unless I had complete confidence in him and his work. He has done many Mohs surgery on me when needed and is an extremely capable doctor in all respects.
The doctor came in with two students and spent a grand total of approximately two minutes. He didn't explain the diagnosis or allow me to ask questions. What a terrible example for future doctors. The medical assistant even apologized for his behavior.
I saw the PA who did absolutely nothing AND CHARGED me $30 co-pay. Same condition 2 weeks later and had to see the doctor. He did a biopsy and now gave me an oral prescription medication and two prescription ointments for the condition. Called to straighten out the fact that the PA did absolutely nothing and was told "you always have to pay the co-pay even if they don't diagnose you correctly". What a racket. I would advise everyone to make their APPOINTMENT with the doctor ONLY. I'm choosing to see another doctor!!!
I have been a patient for over 10 years. I find the doctors and staff very professional. My husband is a patient as well, as is my mother. Thank goodness they biopsied a small spicy on her nose, or cane back as basal cell cancer. They promptly called her in and took care of it immediately.
Do not use this sham of a practice! I have been a patient for 2.5 years now and every time I go they find and excuse to cut me open and the specimen ALWAYS comes back negative. This isn't even the worst part. After a previous visit I was billed by a lab for doing the biopsy. Had it gone through Quest Diagnostics I would have been covered 100% with no out of pocket. After the first time not using Quest I was assured by both my doctor and the staff that they would only be using Quest. This was reconfirmed the last time I went in and they cut out yet another "suspicious" specimen. Lo and behold I get another bill for $50 from a lab other than Quest (negative of course). When I called Bay to ask why this happened they informed me that it didn't matter what my doctor or her staff had promised me, they had the right to use any lab they chose and too bad for me. Needless to say they have lost a client and I find their methods HIGHLY questionable!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
