Failure to control schedule and see patients at scheduled time. My wife had an appointment for 1:pm, February 10, 2022. We arrived and checked in as new patient at 12:15pm, February 10, 2022. My wife was called by the nurse at approximately 12:50pm, February 10, 2022. She provided requested specimen and then was seated in Exam Room 4. Another nurse came in and did a sonogram of my wife’s bladder area. She left and we waited patiently for 50 minutes beyond our appointment time. We had the leave at 1:55pm in order to be at another doctor appointment at 2:30pm, Our overall impression was as senior citizens and new patients our time was not important and we did not matter to the doctor. We left feeling disrespected and disappointed that we were treated in such a manner. While we understand the doctor might be a little behind the simple courtesy of acknowledging our presence would have been appreciated. We may see another Urologist for my wife’s health, but it will definitely not be Dr Spires. It was obvious that patients are just a revenue source.4

I owe a special debt of gratitude to Dr. Kevin Spires for his professional abilities, explanations of my conditions, and choosing surgical options giving me my best outcome. After 5 months and 2 surgeries, which included uncontrollable Covid surgical shutdowns, I am living my best life, thank you again and your assisting staff.

My wife and I don’t go to doctors unless it is urgent. My wife was diagnosed with kidney stones at Regional Medical Center. They referred us to Suncoast Urology for treatment. Once we got an appointment we met dr Spires. He painted a scary picture that needed quick treatment. The following day my wife had a procedure for the stone and infection in her kidney. Spires told us he would speak to me after the procedure. He was not to be found! I got a call in the hospital from a nurse telling me she would be out of recovery soon and I could see her then. That was the last we had seen or heard from Spires. Two weeks later a procedure to pulverize the stone was set. Spires a no show!!! Dr Buethe said he would do the job, but didn’t know why Spires wasn’t there. Dr. Buethe took care of the stone and said the stent could be removed in a day or two. We called the office later that day to make an appointment. We were told that they would call us once the doctors order came in. We waited Two days , nothing. We called again, same story. Finally got a hold of Tara who helped us out. Seems like she is the only one that knows what’s going on. We went to the office 5 days after the stone pulverizing(not 1-2). An office girl removed the stent and got dr Buethe to see my wife. He asked if we could take down the one star review I put out. He apologized but my wife told him no. They put her through stress that was not needed. This is why we avoid doctors. I also blame the hospital for recommending Suncoast Urology. My recommendation is to go anywhere but Suncoast Urology and don’t trust the hospital’s referral. 😡

Dr. Spires is one of the most competemt and respectful Dr,s I've met in a long time. And the nursing staff is caring and comforting.

Dr Spires has excellent "bedside manner". He is very concerned about the patient's well being and listens carefully to what the patient has to say. He will discuss in detail all his findings and will recommend all treatment options available.

Dr. Spires is a very caring patient doctor who listens to your concerns. We never felt rushed during office visits. My husband had a large bladder stone which Dr Spires had to remove. After surgery he made a point of coming out to talk to me. I would highly recommend him as a urologist.

I have been going to dr. Spires for 6 months he has been outstanding as well as his staff I recommend him to anyone that needs a urologist

I've been going here since 2016. This is a great office. Request Dr. Spires if you can. I know i'm biased. Both locations are great and if I do have any problems with appts. they are taking care of right away. The staff is pleasant and helpful.

Caring bedside manner, he explained my procedure thoroughly. He was so nice it was like talking to a friend not a doctor. I have recommended him to several people and will continue to recommend him. I have much confidence in him and only wish that all of my other doctors were as wonderful.
