I'm 68 and diabetic so I don't mess around with my eye health. Been to a few places around Clearwater that made me feel like just another appointment. Not here. Dr. Powers actually talked to me, explained what he saw, no rush. Staff knew my name when I came back. They even sent me a personal video after my first visit -- my daughter couldn't believe it. Already sent my friend Linda their way. If you're a senior or diabetic in the Clearwater area, don't waste time anywhere else.
Couldn't find the place. When I called for directions the person that was giving me directions was not understanding where I was because they are not in the office, but they told me they were. They use a service. The office is filthy and I mean I didn't even want to sit down. The receptionist had her dirty make up bag on the counter where you check in. I don't think I have been in a dirtier office. There were so many people in the waiting room and one Dr! I did like the Dr, but the filth and wait time makes me want to find a new Dr. I hope they clean up this office and slim the wait times.
There is also long waits, no updates or urgency to get people on their way. The front desk staff always has some confusion and doesn’t appear to be trained adequately. The staff in the appointments are always professional but changes often. This process needs to be reevaluated. I’m here for a 1pm appointment, they scheduled for 8:30am and while I told them that’s incorrect it was never changed. It’s 1:58pm and just being called for scan and back to waiting room.
I have never been to a worst doctor in my life . I was there for 4 hours . He never once even referred to me by my name I don't think he knew who I was he never introduced himself . He explained nothing answered no questions . Doors were open everywhere I could hear other patients there was no confidentiality at all . I was in a room for a test and they were why is running everywhere it was unsafe . His examination was very rough I have never had such an awful experience . After being there for hours they set me up with two more appointments within the next month which I canceled as soon as I got home . I think his only interest is not in his patience but in himself . He's quite full of himself . I can't even think of one good thing to say about him so I'll say nothing else . I did speak to someone in the office when I cancel those appointments not sure who he was but didn't seem to be concerned regarding how upset I was with how I was treated .
Dr. Powers saved my BFF's eyesight when other docs could/would not touch her. So when I started having problems I would only consider going to him. His testing is extremely thorough (which is something you want when you could be going blind). I have macular degeneration in both eyes and he sees me every 6 months to keep 'an eye' on it's progress. He has a great bedside manner and all of his staff is so kind. I would not trust anyone else. I'm moving out of state next year and will fly here to see him as I trust his care that much! If you need an appointment as a new patient please be understanding as he has that many loyal patients and it may take some time.
was referred there by primary care physician for an eye exam. A total waste of time had an appointment at 9 AM and we finally ran out of patience and left the 12th without having eye exam done. The people there had no idea what they were doing. it doesn't even take like three hours to prep for an actual surgery and all they had to do is an eye exam. I would not recommend visiting this office unless you want to be there all day long.
I would no come back to this place, and I wouldn't let my parents go here either. My experience is 1) They overcharge and Don't Credit 2) Long Waits 3) Pain. 4) Don't educate you (the patient) Thing I noticed that may be helpful to you: 1) They advertise it's Dr Powers' office, but I asked for him, and was not allowed to see him, it's someone else 2) They pay for positive reviews. After your appointment, you get a text & email offering a $20 gift card for a positive review by clicking the link. The software only posts the positive reviews Context: I'm a diabetic and have been getting regular shots in my eyes in Virginia. I was visiting Florida and went to this office to continue getting my same treatment just during my visit to Florida. 1) Overcharge They require you to pay what they deem your "copay" is up front before your visit. I visited in February. Office insisted they collect from me: $426.10 Patient responsibility on my EOB: $207.25 As of August, I still do not have my $200+ credit back. Up until June they said my insurance was still processing, now they've acknowledged they owe me but their response is now "oh they haven't fixed it in the system yet". 2) Long Waits In Virginia, my appointments took 45 mins to 1 hour. At this office, my appointments lasted 2.5-3.5 hours. 3) Painful: -In Virginia, they use Betadine as an antibacterial to clean my eye prior to my shot. No irritation or issues -At this office, they use some other solution which was irritating for 3 days. All their pateints experience this so they also provide you with a prescription to treat the irritation it causes. 4) Don't Educate You None of the staff explains the tests they are performing or why. When I asked, they said "oh we have to". A simple intro of Who-What-Why (I'm ----, we're going to do ---- test, and that will tell the doctor ----) would be nice. This has dragged on so long now that I've been keeping a record. Since my appointment: --I've received 3 wrong bills asking for more money. When I call to inquire they say something along the lines of "oh you shouldn't have received that, I'll let them know, your bill is still pending." --I've called 8 times --I've emailed 6 times This started in February and is still ongoing. I'll keep this updated since this continues to drag on. 8/18/23 - Only way I was able to get this resolved was to call the office and ask for the manager's name, then google that name and find their work email address, and email them directly. This is finally resolved, 6 months after my appointment.

Very professional staff and doctors
Very caring and thorough with their exams. Dr. Powers takes time to explain to you how your eyes are doing. Service by staff is great. Sometimes the wait can be long.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
