Alan R. Blackburn's Online Review Report Card

DR Blackburn has treated my left thumb for a few years for arthritis. He initially recommended using non surgical treatment due to the pain and the recovery time for an Arthoplasy using the tendon transfer method. After several injections, which were becoming less effective, he informed me that he had completed “training” and had performed 70+ surgeries using an internal brace rather that a tendon transplant. All were successful with the exception of one due to the patient over using the thumb prior to the required healing time. Based on my surgery I can absolutely see how this could occur. I had less pain post surgery than at least a couple of years prior and the surgical wound healed beautifully. Currently I have completed four sessions of Occupational Therapy and realize that it will take the three months Dr Blackburn told me it would to achieve full range of motion. Kendra, my Therapist, at South Florida Orthopedics 3rd floor, is doing a wonderful job facilitating my recovery, her knowledge and hands on approach is top notch. Based on my experience and other patients that I have spoke with Dr Blackburn is an extremely talented surgeon. We are blessed to have a person of his skill level, knowledge, and mannerisms here in Stuart.

He had a very difficult task working my shoulder, putting it back together with a plate and 12 screws. At times my pain level was through the roof, but that was expected. After 4 weeks of outpatient physical therapy at SF Ortho, I am making excellent progress. Dr Blackburn was very pleased with my progress and the hard work that I am doing only with the help of my PT Kristin, to restore full range-of-motion to my right shoulder and arm. I give Dr Blackburn and SF Ortho physical therapy not 5 stars but 10. Love you guys and would highly recommended you to everyone I see.

The office personnel are professional and efficient. Dr. Blackburn is very confident, professional, and competent. His skill level with explanations is surpassed by none in my experience. the "wait list" worked for obtaining a faster appointment. Excellent experience.

This was my first Orthopedic experience and he made me feel very comfortable. Some doctors are in a rush due to the work load but Dr Blackburn takes his time to genuinely make sure you understand the process of things to come.

Dr. Blackburn is excellent. He was thorough with examining my problems, He took his time and I didn't feel rushed. He explained what was going on with me in layman terms. I recently made another appointment for a different issue.
