List of Howard Helfman's Reviews
If he treats his patients that way you can imagine how he treated nurses that worked with him. Very badly. A very unpopular doctor even with his own peers.
Great DR very instancing with his work dose not take any craps.
As I read about him above, I can understand. I had the same feelings when I went to all my visits with him. However, after being around doctors at the Am. Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Chicago, where I worked, I take him for what he is, and that is... he is a great doctor.
There’s no debate on Dr Helfman’s educational background and skill. What I found to be unacceptable were his condescending manner and his inability to listen to, and address, patient concerns. I went to two appointments and encountered the same demeanor.
Have seen Dr. Helfman multiple times and have had nothing but quality appointments. Had an A-fib issue which he resolved satisfactory and his post A-Fib care has been excellent. If you have heart issues, he is the guy to see. His office is extremely busy as four other Heart Doctors work out of the same location and all share the same office staff. However, I have never had to wait for my scheduled appointment and have always been treated very well by the staff during all my visits.
Once again his staff was rude and condescending. When called to confirm appointment I requested a check on my co-pay. I was told it was $75.00 and told goodbye and the phone was hung up. I spoke to 7 minute Helfman who become agitated that I would question a member of his staff. I reminded him that if a member of my former staff ever addressed a customer like she did, I would have her reassigned to a position she could handle. 7 minute Helfman never asks questions about my exercise routine, diet or any other pertinent info. This is the 5th and possibly last visit with this subpar practice.
My husband went to see Dr. Helfman as requested by Martin Health Systems (MMS) on a “Critical Care Hospital Discharge Follow-up” visit. He walked in and rudely said, “Well, what are you here for?” My husband explained his 7-days in ICU with an irregular heart beat, amongst other issues. He briefly listened to his heart and said he was fine. He asked if he should stay on the heart medication given to him at the hospital. Dr. said, “get your prescriptions from your PCP.” Then he pretty much just walked out without saying a word. We felt extremely “put out” for a wasted copay not to mention a big waste of time. This doctor is rude, unprofessional and probaby should just retire. Do not see him for anything! He could care less about his patients!
Dr. Helfman is wonderful. He specializes in women's cardiac health and he knows his profession well. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants a superior cardiologist.
Dr. Helfman is the best! My blood pressure is in control thanks to him. He is a hands on doctor, takes your blood pressure himself and really listens.
Dr seemed to be preoccupied, did not listen or address my concerns. I felt very rushed, I am now searching for a New Cardiologist.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
