List of Robert Klafter's Reviews
I had a wonderful experiences , he answered all of my questions before I asked. Wonderful provider. His staff is great . He has the personality to work in Oncology, very upbeat.
When I could not physically tolerate chemotherapy, (two 5-day hospitalizations) during the course of five weekly chemo treatments, this treatment was stopped and I was told to come back if I had another incidence of cancer. During the course of about six weeks, he did not have a copy of the pathology report until I gave it to him. He is a fast talker and doesn't allow discussion, preferring to dominate the visits. I always left not knowing any more that I did before the visit. Two years later, cancer presented again, and I returned to Dr. Klafter after hospitalization and confirmation that I had malignant plural effusion. During the next 4 months (I declined the same chemo therapy) he referred me to a palliative physician with the explanation that he would confer with the palliative care physician as to further treatment. However, he did not confer with her or anybody else. My palliative care physician called me to say she would contact him and let me know. She did so and called to say Dr. Klafter had "nothing else to offer me if I would not take the chemo therapy." I had depended on him, reporting for visits, as he requested, 4 months, during which he avoided telling me ANYTHING. throughout these months, he was arrogant, scatter-brained, and cruised up and down the hall seated on a stool with wheels (completely un-professional behavior), calling his staff to be in the room so that he could put on a show (for me? or staff?) Who knows? The last visit I had, he humiliated me by mocking my facial expressions and telling me nothing except come back in a month. Today, my cancer is quiet due to the Grace of God. I expected this oncologist to help me navigate the disease, not bow to his performances.
Dr. Klafter is quite possibly the most arrogant and condescending person I've ever me. He flat out didn't read orders for my mother, who was hospitalized one month after being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, and told her that she would get chemo at the hospital for three days and go home. The actual orders were showed nothing close to that information. When confronted, he talked down to his patient and me (her son), apologized, and then said that he got bad information. I asked him where that info came from, because he has nothing to apologize for if he got bad info. After dancing around the subject for about 15 minutes, he said that it could only have come from his team members - all of whom were standing in the room. I asked each of them individually if the provided the bad info, and they said that hadn't. He then danced around the subject while I confronted him further before finally taking the blame - but it was only to shut us up. He is the most unprofessional, deceptive, arrogant and untruthful person that I've ever met. Not doctor. Person.

I'd rather have smart any day over bedside manner, even though he has always been very good to me. I don't care if he comes from New York or California, The Man helped to save my life by taking a chance that a new medication for low platelets would work long enough for me to have Cancer removal surgery. I value that. He always answers my questions and takes time with me, I also realize my condition is very complicated and baffles most Doctors, but, I also know I am not his only patient. I trust him, that matters the most to me...
Neglected my husband's lymphoma with weak followup after treatment. Kept saying he was cured. We switched to Sloan when it came back. Klafter did not take his symptoms seriously when they started to return. Boy were we fooled by his charm.
He thinks he is funny, and isn't! Called 2 days before and rescheduled 3rd appointment. Had 3 appointments, late for the first, no show on the second and had his PA fill in, third - waited nearly an hour in the exam room before I decided to leave, then he magicly showed up and said he was with a patient that was more serious than my condition.
Most arrogant person I have ever seen. Terrible bed side manner. I just wanted answers for my questions. Not only I didn't get that, but left the office in tears. What can I say he is a topical New Yorker.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
