List of Charles Cottrell's Reviews
One of the worst GI doctors I have ever seen is Joshua Sommerset. This Dr has no compassion or sympathy for his patients whatsoever. Felt the need to write a new review because it looks as though my, along w/ others, were wiped. I visited him w sever constipation, chest pain and gallbladder pain that nearly cost me my life. He told me it was all in my head and because I’m young I would have no problems. Flash forward a few months later I had my gallbladder removed because I had EIGHT gallstones. Additionally, I was diagnosed with SIBO. Please do not ever go to this practice. Their receptionists are unreliable, never called me back after promising they would. Extremely difficult to get to answer the phone.
I like Dr. Cottrell. He's always been very sweet. I gave him 4 stars cause it's kinda hard to get an appt.
Referred by my primary Dr. for treatment of my perineal polyps and wait for 3 weeks to see him. He did not take look at how my polyps symptom was, spent 3 minutes to write down what I told him, and then drove me away from his office. There were no looking, no treatment, no medication but kicked me to another specialist because he did not know how to do. I was very frustrated after seeing him. What a poor doctor.
So far beautiful.. love the staff and the RN I seen. I have my colonoscopy today.. I haven't met the doctor yet.
My handicapp son was released from the hospital for 2nd time for same intestine issue. Was told by 3 doctors and the surgeon very important tobe seen by Dr. Cottrell within 1 week of release.for procedure called after release told by nurse had to talk to doctor before making appt. nurse never call back.I call everyday and was told nurse too busy or not there. 2weeks later I get told appt. not till sept.27 and procedure not till NOV. PATIENT BWARE!!Don’t go here go out ofTallahassee if youhave to!
This is without a single doubt the worst place to go if your in need of a GI Doctor. My son is Handicap. He has been in the hospital twice for the same issue. An issue with his intestines that has caused him to lose weight down to 98lbs. Before his release from the hospital the second time I was told by two doctors from this clinic and the hospital doctor and the surgeon that he needed to be seen by Doctor Cotrell within a week of his release to swallow a capsule with a camera in it and if they didn’t see anything he would go back to the surgeon for laparoscopic surgery because the cat scan of his intestines was very abnormal. I have been calling to get him in ever since his release. I talked to Dr. cottrells nurse. She said she had to talk to Dr. cotrell about it before making the appointment and she would call me back to make the appointment.. she never called back and I have been calling for two weeks since then. Each time being told that his nurse is the only one who can help me. And she is always busy or not there. And they will take a message for her to call me back which she never does. Today I got mad and told them I was tired of this. I was informed that they would make an appointment to come in and talk about the procedure but the appointment for the actual procedure would probably not be until November. All this after I explained that all the doctors at the hospital said he needed to be in there within a week of release because it is very important for him to get this issue taken care of. The lady on the phone told me she was sorry but Dr. cotrell was too busy at the hospital to see him before sept. 27th and then the procedure would be about three weeks out. Please if you care about yourself or your loved ones find another place to go. Even if it’s out of Tallahassee.
Dr. Cottrell has extraordinary credentials, warm bedside manner, I am grateful we have such a competent and compassionate specialist in Tallahassee.
The doctor is arrogant, has no bed-side manner and therefore gets the lowest rating from me. He does not consider the needs of the patient - just the best needs of himself!
I went to Dr Cottrell with severe cramps about two years ago. The first visit he didn't even examine me and concluded I had IBS. He told me to take fiber and see if that helped. The cramps continued and I returned to his office, where he examined me only after I demanded it. He provided such little guidance all I could do was bear the pain for the many years that followed. Only after going to a more competent doctor did I get diagnosed with a complicated appendicitis. All it took was one exam.
This is the worst GI doctor I have ever had treat me for my disease. He has the worst bedside manner. His staff has the worst customer service. They are very unfriendly and uncaring. I would not recommend this office to anyone who actually has a disease and needs immediate assistance. They are not quick to try and help you heal, but rather more worried about taking your money and having you do colonoscopies for no reason other than to charge your medical insurance for the procedure. It is a shame that Tallahassee, FL does not have many options for GI's and that this office holds most GI's available in the area and are all uncaring.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
