List of Joshua Somerset's Reviews
My review would be a mixed one, leaning towards the more positive outcome. He can be brash or cold and his male nurse rude (perhaps a defense against unusual personalities), and both seem to lack much of a sense of humor, and since levity helps us along, they would do better to adopt some humor or more smiles to their miens. The answering and messaging system's staff are quite good, even if they've no idea what I am on about. (They used to communicate via texting, but that's history...) In the end I've been frank with the good doctor telling him my apprehensions and zeroing in on my needs for the future. There was some confusion about when my next colonoscopy would be (a few months vs 5 years - which is a big deal!), but I got that straightened out. Just be sure to stop the doctor if you feel rushed and ask him to slow it down a bit. That's all there is to it. I know he cares and that's half the battle. Your innards are literally vital. Take your time and leave well-versed. -
He was arrogant, unkind and wouldn't listen. "Move 'em in, move 'em out"!
I saw Dr. Somerset and he performed 2 procedures. After the procedures he came and saw me while I was still under anesthesia so I didn't remember what he said. No one talked to my family member in the waiting room. When I asked the nurses if he could come back and explain to me what he found he refused to come back and see me. Then he ordered another test and lab work. Have been waiting 9 days for results. I have left 6 messages for his nurse to call me with the results. Said she had to have Dr Somerset review them and get back with me after he has had the results for a week. His nurse was rude and kept interrupting me. Still have same problems. All they care is about the money and not the patients. Also if you call his office be prepared to be on hold for at least 30 minutes. I would not recommend him. He is young and doesn't care.
Dr.Somerset is, by far, the WORST doctor I have ever dealt with in my life! If I could give negative stars, I would. Within the first five minutes he told me, "he didn't have all day." If you want a doctor who has no empathy, no compassion, and straight forwardly acts like he doesn't care and tries to be done with you then this is your guy.
Doctor. Somerset was very professional and caring Doctor. I'm very thankful I found him. Doctor Somerset has a very nice personality. He was kidding and said remember I can't cure normal... Very patient and explained everything to me it's wonderful to blessed to move to another area and find a kind and caring Doctor like Doctor Somerset. "Five STARS all the way!!! Thank you. Doctor Sumerset I appreciate you.
I have familial hypertriglyceridemia which causes me to have high triglycerides. This has also caused me to develop pancreatitis. And I have had to deal with several medical professionals automatically assuming that I am an alcoholic or a drug addict and did this to myself. But I am not nor have I ever been. I tried to be hopeful, but as soon as he walked into the room I could tell that the appointment wasn't going to go well. He was very stoic and straight to the point. He wasn't really listening and he kept treating my appointment more like an interrogation. I felt like I had done something wrong the whole time I was in there. He made several insinuations that I wasn't being honest about not drinking and taking drugs because I still had a pancreatic attack with low triglycerides. I even cut me off in the middle of our conversation and told me that he was going to cut through the bull crap and be very blunt with me. And informed me that top three reasons that people get pancreatitis is alcohol abuse, drug abuse, and high triglycerides. And if my triglycerides were under control then there must have been some other reason that I was still having attacks. He accused me of not taking my medications and potentially taking something else. Now mind you I had the flu, so the very apparent reason which appeal would have read my file showed that that was the probable cause of my attack. But either way I still had pancreatitis and still needed his help, but he told me there was nothing he could or would do for me at this time.
Unlike the other low score experience, I had a very good experience with Dr Joshua Somerset. He is patient and explain things very clearly. I am very happy to have him treat me.
Called his office last week complaining of sharp pains in my stomach. They said the next apt would be Nov 21. I asked to have the nurse call me so she could answer some general question. They said the world pass the message on. No return call. The next week I wound up in the ER with a diagnoses of diverticulitis.
I've never had a Doctor try to get me out of the office so quickly, have had pains in my abdomen since 2011, he told me that if I'm still living with it now then it's nothing serious, even though it's much worse... Perfect example of the useless physicians that I've come to know in Tallahassee, FL.
Dr Somerset listened to all of my questions and answered in terms I could relate to! That is so important! Everyone was friendly and professional. Also, there were no delays. I am glad that my GP referred me to the Digestive Disease Center and Dr Somerset!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
