List of Select Specialty Hospital - Tallahassee's Reviews
The receptionist has got to be the rudest person I have ever dealt with. I was dropping off some boxes to the front desk and I forgot to wear my mask, I was instantly met with attitude. She said “I need you to stop talking in MY space without a mask”. It wasnt a problem, I go back to my car and put one on and come back inside to finish. She said “You need to wear a different mask, I have no idea where that one has been”. As if she was insinuating that I was dirty. She had masks at the door and didnt tell me the first time. She then said “Honestly though it doesnt matter at this point because hopefully you wont be back.” At this point she was being very disrespectful. Im not anti mask or anything like that, in fact I believe in them and wear them often but I simply forgot. Believe me I know that 9 times out of 10, these kind of reviews arent sharing the other side of the story but I was not being rude to her. She needs to be trained properly in customer service.
My biggest healing while at this hospital was the relationships I built with the staff. their staff in PT/OT are some of the most caring people I've ever met. I get to go home today and I am going to miss them so much! The care this staff has given me has helped me fight the biggest battle of my life so far and I cannot thank them enough for all of their help.
Select Specialty Hospital is truly a SELECT and SPECIAL Hospital. My brother Allen suffered a brain stem bleed that left him on a ventilator and trach 8 months ago. He was taken to TGH, placed on life support and moved to SSH in June. TGH was very good but I am truly amazed with his care and progress at SSH. He's now weaned from the vent, sitting up in a chair, making audible noises AND smiling! I shed tears when I clearly heard him call me UGLY in response to my "encouragement" (?). This all came after calls in April and May that he would not survive the night. The entire SSH staff is commended for a JOB WELL DONE but I must give an extra shout out for Nurse Stephanie Jackson for her support and communication throughout his stay. Through sincere and fervent prayer and God's blessings, I hope to have my brother back BRAND NEW and I thank God for Select Specialty Hospital! You guys are FANTASTIC!!!
My dad became sick unexpectantly out of town. He was hospitalized for over a month and then transferred back home to Select. I can honestly say that the care in Tallahassee was 100% better than the care we had in South Florida. Dr. Huang and Dr. Ford were available to talk to each time I needed and explained exactly what was going on along with addressing any concerns that we had. Everyone involved with daily care such as the nurses, nurse assistants, dieticians, housekeeping, front desk, and respiratory therapist were friendly, helpful, and never batted an eye when asked to come help with anything. George, the wound care nurse, was extremely knowledgeable and also kept us up to date on what was happening and what we could do to help with wound healing. Bryan from radiology was so friendly and was nice when we needed a break and to talk about other things instead of " medical stuff'. Debbie from case management went out of her way to make sure our stay and our transfer to the next facility went well. She helped to make sure that my father's next level of care was exactly what he needed. Last but definitely not least was the therapy department. Meghan, Dani, and Lisa were phenomenal. Not only did they help my dad move in and out of the bed for the first time in a month, but they also truly seemed to care about how he was doing both physically and mentally. They took the time each time they worked with him to talk with him, encourage him, and help him see how little improvements would add up. I honeslty can say that the extra patience and motivation made a huge difference in his frame of mind. Thank you to everyone at select for helping my dad get back to himself.
I arrived at Select on Oct. 15, and from that day I have never been treated with such love and dignity. It's becomes a very humbling when you can't do the daily things you are used to doing but the staff never make you feel shame. All of my nurses and CNA'S (Q) I truly love. She takes care of me like I was a part of her family. Also a shout out to my Physical Therapy tag team Loren and Lisa. They make me feel confident even when I have no confidence in myself. The Respitory team is phenomenal. I don't have one bad thing to say about the treatment or the staff. Lastly Dr.Hash is awesome. He comes like clock work everyday even the weekend to check on me. I couldn't have wished for a better place to recover.
Everything bad thing people say is correct. Everyrtime you Call to check on your love one, they never answered.
I'm a patient here at this hospital I'm paralyzed Im also autistic have been treated horribly no one has really taken care of since I have been here I had nurse who turned off my call light i almost died. And I had my meds with hold from I had made a complaint got a letter saying we received your compaint and working on it after that treatment got worse
If I could give 0 stars I would..This place is terrible! If you love your family members I would NOT send them here! I know one great nurse here but it takes way more than her to care for these precious people! My grandmother was getting ready to come home this week! Last week we found out that they was putting her belongings to far out of reach and just talking so negative to her and just not doing their job and then we get a call two days later saying she wasn’t going to make it and there was no hope for us!! How could this happen?? If you have trained doctors and nurses here how could they not see the signs or see her going down hill?? When you have staff there that says for themselves she would still be here if it wasn’t for the lack of care then you know it’s a problem! This place is a joke! The whole time I was there walking in and out they just stayed all together “hanging out” not doing their job! Maybe allow more family members an maybe think about allowing more hours with our loved ones instead of shutting them inside there room for hours and hours with no one and obviously neglecting them! When you become a nurse you should have compassion for these people an actually want them better! Maybe just MAYBE you should treat these lovely people like you would want your family members treated🤔
My dad was transferred to Select Specialty Hospital from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in early August. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because the care he received while there was amazing. The staff members were highly skilled and very professional. Everyone was friendly and made sure to check to make sure we, the family, were okay while visiting. They took Covid precautions, and I felt very safe while visiting. When my dad was still in isolation, Select has large windows so family can visit and see their loved ones. The care my dad received was great! My dad made friends with most of the staff even if they weren't his direct care staff. When we left the facility to go home everyone came to say their goodbyes to him. They were all so encouraging. I was amazed how many people came to say goodbye, but we felt that everyone cared about his progress, even the cook, admin staff and housekeepers. He was able to walk out of the facility because he didn't want to be pushed out in a wheelchair. The facility was VERY clean, and the outside was well maintained too. While my dad was a patient there, we really felt like Select was our extra family. Select Specialty Hospital is many steps above any hospital I have ever had any experience with. I always recommend Select Specialty Hospital to anyone I know.
My husband was admitted to Select Specialty Hospital after being at the TMH Covid unit for 18 days. Once he got to Select Hospital, he really began his recovery. The employees of Select were amazing and my husband received the best care. Everyone was so kind and patient. Anytime myself or my daughter were there they would step in to see if we needed anything, even if they weren't his nurse for the day. Dr. Hash created a special bond with my husband and was very vital in his recovery. Occupational/Physical therapy were patient and kind every-time he had rehab. They worked with us a family to get him to where he needed to be in order to come home. They made sure he was able to do the basic daily needs that he was doing before. What surprised me most was when my husband left the facility. At other hospitals you wait around for transport to come and get you and they practically dump you at your car. At Select Specialty Hospital this was not the case. My husband wanted to walk out, not be pushed in a wheelchair, and they allowed him to push his wheelchair full of personal items out. That allowed him some dignity when leaving. What was more surprising is that people we had never met came to his room to tell him goodbye. Employees from housekeeping, cook staff, administration, nursing, and therapy all came to say goodbye and give him encouraging words before he left. I cannot put into words the love and support we felt while he was there. When we left, we felt like we lost part of our family. I recommend Select Specialty Hospital now more than ever. They treat you like family and while recovering that is important.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process.
