Richard Berkowitz's Online Review Report Card

My knees feel incredible compared to the pain was in. I highly recommend Dr. Berkowitz and I recommend doing both at the same time. Thank you doctor for a job well done.

I had a total knee replacement surgery on December 8th 2022 performed by Dr. Berkowitz. He was referred to me by the Doctor who did my Left knee Dr. Steven Svabek. Dr. Svabek felt that the Right knee may be complicated and that Dr. Berkowitz was a better option. I wish I had called the whole thing off at that point but was a little desperate, as I was told that my uneven gait would improve by virtue of the procedure and I'd avoid back surgery. That opinion was countered toward the end of my tenure with Dr. Berkowitz and his office and that end came on March 27th. So what went wrong? 1. I had to sign myself out of the hospital because the Doctor's treating me did not sign the release order. 2. I expected a CPM machine like in the first surgery and none came. When I asked about it I was told Dr. B didn't believe in them. I think the CPM helped me recover faster the first go around. 3. Dr. B doesn't respond well to criticism and I found his demeanor intimidating. I'm glad it's over.

Would not refer him to anyone.

I recommend Dr Berkowitz to anyone. My surgery was successful, he is honest. Say it the way it is. Of course everyone has to do the therapy and follow all the recommendations for making the best possible recovery. Five Stars!

Dr Berkowitz very very in professional maybe he doesn’t like African American patients he was very nasty to me for no reason this happened about three years ago never will I go back to him

This is the worst Dr. He said my mom would be driving in 3 wks after her hip replacement and she now has severe nerve damage from him after 5 months. My mom is in so much pain and cannot walk. I would avoid this doctor at all costs if u want to have a quality of life! He puts on a good front , but once the surgery is done, he’s done with u!

I came to Dr Berkowitz as a recommendation from my primary. My hip was so bad i needed a new one. After meeting Dr Berkowitz, I did not need to look any further! He looked me in the eyes and took time with me. I felt very comfortable. Had my surgery 2 weeks later. 4 hours after surgery i was walking! Pain free. My other hip will need to be done and I will defiantly have Dr Berkowitz again. Staff if nice and friendly. PT right in his office. I highly recommend!

After visiting a couple of other well-regarded hip surgeons that didn't offer a solution for me, I was encouraged by my PT to consult with Dr. Berkowitz. Beyond finding him to be nice and friendly, and one who spent his time with me, he was able to analyze the problem with my hip. He seemed to know what the problem was based upon the examination, what I told him, and looking at my x-ray even before he examined the MRI. It is also noteworthy that what he told me also made sense. It has taken me two years for me to feel as though I am on the right path for recovery. Thank you, Dr. Berkowitz, and also to your team who went out of their way to accommodate me.
