Overall great experience with Dr. Maxcy and staff!

I visited for a consult after an auto accident. I have zero complaints about the office. They were friendly and on time. Dr Maxcy explained everything and confirmed I understood. She offered me a choice in my treatment and was completely okay with whichever option I chose. I highly recommend the office.

DO NOT EVER LET THIS DOCTOR IMPLANT A SPINAL STIMULATOR!I'M STILL DEALING WITH THE A FLIPPED OVER BATTERY AFTER OVER A YEAR AND SHE REFUSES TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE! NO OTHER DOCTORS ARE WILLING TO DO HER MESSY SURGERY OVER, SO I'M STUCK WITH A PAINFUL PIECE OF HARDWARE IN MY BACK!

I was sent to Dr Maxcy after my physical therapist felt like he could no longer help me. I had been suffering from intense headaches for many months. Dr. Maxcy gave me a shot in the back of my skull (that hurt like heck) but three days later all my headaches were gone. I am pain free and finally able to enjoy my activities again.

I went to Dr. Maxcy after moving to Tampa for work, to continue my care. She talked me out of doing TPIs like my previous physiatrist had reccomended, saying they'd be "excruciatingly painful" (they're not-- my new doctor did them, they're barely a pinch) and tried to push me towards an expensive out of pocket option I couldn't afford and wasn't indicated for my condition. She then wrote me a prescription but said I had to come in every single month regardless of whether I needed a refill, saying it was "the law" (it's not). They took a urine sample and sent it to a lab that my insurance didn't cover (why didn't they send it to quest??? I don't know!) Then when I called after receiving a large bill, they said just "not to pay it". I asked to speak to their supervisor as that didn't make sense and I shouldn't be responsible for this and they said they'd call back. They didn't. Dr. Maxcy is a terrible doctor who's goal is to get every last cent out of her patients. Horrible!

Dr Maxcy and her staff are professional and friendly. My Physical therapist referred me to Dr. Maxcy for a very painful shoulder. After a MRI was done she determined I would do well with a PRP procedure.And I'm happy to report I have a pain free shoulder.

Gave me several trigger points one after next on my back and moving them around inside. Got a fungal infection. Did not clean needle after each trigger point. Then she thought an epidural would help and said Im going to give you a good burn. Well I got severe headaches and had nausea etc. went to the hospital and the anesthesiologist said I had a csf leak from the shot. She basically went past the dura level and I almost died. Dr Hisghman of Trinity Medical Center gave me the most painful procedure called a blood patch which several vials of blood injected in my spine to cover up the hole. Here it is a few years later and I still am not myself. She is not knowledgeable and was either inexperienced or not sure how far to put the needle in my spine. The Florida Spine Institute told me they get a lot of patients after they go to Dr Maxcy and they have to do procedures to cover the hole. Please do not go through the same thing I went through with her. She should have been sued by me but I was kind enough to let this one go and warn others. Dr Lee Ann Brown let her go the next day because of all these instances with patients. She moved a couple of other places now has her own place called USA Spine. Was better before going to her. Now in 2018 I still have residual effects of numbness and pins and needles and much more pain after her epidural and trigger point shots.

Great practice with caring professionals. Highly recommend and am glad my long term general doctor Recommended Dr Maxcy to me.

I went to Dr Maxcy in 2011 for a work related injury and was very pleased with her care. There were a number of procedures she utilized for me to get better, and put me on three different prescriptions for pain management. On a follow up visit to the office she worked out of I was treated poorly by another Doctor who's care did not meet the standard that I felt I received from Dr. Maxcy. That office was 40 minutes from my house, and I was told I had to see whatever Doctor in that group was available. My chiropractor referred me to another Doctor that was only 10 minutes from my house, and I had been going to that Doctor for the past six years for refills on the prescriptions that Dr Maxcy originally prescribed. I only needed to see that Doc and get a refill about once (sometimes twice) a year, even though it was only a 30 day supply; because I only took them as needed. Mind you this medicine is taken as a last resort, as I go to the chiropractor and medical message therapist on a regular basis. I also strength train, have about a full rehab facility's worth of equipment in my home gym, and am married to a physical therapist. So all I needed here was a refill on the prescription Maxcy put me on almost 7 years ago. There is no fixing my conditioning, only minding it well. I have been doing better than all the Doc's thought I would be, due to my own dedication to good overall well being. Maxcy thought I was going to need neurosurgery in 2011. The Doctor I had been going to for the scripts has retired, and my chiro told me Maxcy was working out of another clinic not too far away. I called to make an appointment with that clinic. I explained who I was and what I needed on the phone, and they told me my visit would be $125. I pay out of pocket for everything. That price was fair, as it was the same I've been paying all these years. However, when I arrived at the clinic (that was 30 minutes away), I was told my visit was going to be $350. When I replied that I was told $125, they told me it was because I was a new patient. I explained that I'm an old patient of Maxcy's and have been on the same routine she put me on all these years. They said that since it's a new clinic, that I would have to pay the $350 for a new patient consult. I could understand additional administrative work needing to be done to get me into their system, and would have been willing to pay $250 (twice the regular visit fee), but $350 was not worth it. I left the office. That's either a bait and switch marketing tactic, or poorly trained staff answering their phone and taking appointments. Either way they wasted an hour and a half of my day by practicing bad business. Only 3 stars because I cannot speak for the quality of care, only the way the office is run.

Have seen Dr Maxcy and Dr Panagakos, both are wonderful, interactive, fully articulate their recommendations, and scheduled my procedures quickly. Would whole heartedly recommend both!
