Within minutes of meeting me he started berating me about the failure of my previous bariatric surgery, even though the surgery I had (gastric band) is notorious for poor outcomes and is falling out of favor due to ineffectiveness. He made the snap judgment that my difficulties were all the result of my personal failings and made no attempt at empathy or kindness. How could I possibly feel safe with a doctor who showed nothing but contempt for me? There are plenty of other surgeons who actually try to help and treat patients with care and respect. Find one of them and AVOID this guy!

The best surgeon ever!!!!!! He is my mom's surgeon Dr. and I’m so happy I was able to find him. He's very knowledgeable, professional and took care of my mom for all the time I stayed at the hospital after her surgery. Also, The nurses amazing!!!! Great team!!!!!!

If 0 was an option I’d pick it. Do not trust this dr or the office staff. They make phone calls on speaker phone discussing patient information, while you’re sitting in the waiting room and you can hear everything. Dr Valin did a procedure on my arm in June and when I went back for my two week follow up he blamed me for my incision not being closed all the way. He never gave me any post op instructions. When my incision completely opened back up he cauterized it in his office, mind you it wasn’t bleeding, and told me he’d repeat the cauterization in two weeks. I went home and that night it all opened up again. I have spurs on my intestine so if I get an infection I can’t take any antibiotics for it. When I relayed this to him and my concern with having an open wound he continued to tell me anyone can get an infection and he wouldn’t see me for two weeks. I ended up seeking the opinion of a wound care specialist who actually looked at my open incision and ran some test and informed me that I now had a staph infection, Dr Valin would’ve caught that had he actually cared about his patients health. So now it’s October and my incision STILL hasn’t healed properly and I now have to get a second surgery on it. But this time it will be done properly. After the initial surgery my incision was supposed to be left open so it could drain but Dr Valin closed mine. When I asked him why he did that he simply said the other drs I spoke to didn’t know what they were talking about. How is it that 6 different doctors who’ve looked at my incision all said the same thing but according to him they’re all wrong? Thanks for botching my arm and causing me to go though a second unnecessary procedure. Don’t trust this man or his staff!

He seemed fine before surgery, but changed into a different person after. I had a complication, an allergic reaction to the tape that was glued on. I saw him and he said he'd leave it for a week, then when I called him he told me to take them off myself. I ended up going to the same hospital he worked for and they were appalled that he had seen me in that condition and that they then had to handle what he was too lazy to deal with.

One of the most caring Dr's and office staff. Everyone there makes you feel welcome and that your issues matter. If I could I would have come to him first long time ago. I trust my life in his hands.

Dr. Valin is compassionate and spent time to get to know me and my needs. I have been with 3 other bariatric surgeons, and he surpasses the others greatly. He has a vast amount of education in different areas. He removed my lap band and his office/Advent hospital did wonderful. I would highly recommend him! Thanks Dr. Valin!
