I don’t believe there is a better eye surgeon. Exceptionally gifted Dr. who I trust my eyesight to. That really says everything!

Wildly unprofessional. Was the second doctor in a row, despite my polite compliance, to take one look at an opiate on my meds list and refuse proper treatment (and I even had Blue Choice PPO guaranteeing payment). Despite my being super honest and polite and cooperative, both the ER doctor before him and Gills Jr. assumed because I have to take an opiate for an agaonizing spinal condition (I've tried sugery and all else for decades) that I was lying about a foreign, painful object in my eye creating a cataract. Finally a third doctor and opthamologist put me on a proper machine and saw the truth. I required cataract surgery, and most certainly because of the injury. If the ER doctor would have properly processed me I may have saved my original lens which borders on you know what, and Gills Jr. blindly followed his lead, taking a token glance and telling me I'm full of boloney and "goodbye". Very strong team, loved the professionalism. Well above expected service and friendliness. Went out of their way to explain my eye diagnosis. ************************* 4 weeks post Op, I have perfect vision! Recovery was amazing! Totally painless surgery.Eye surgery was less than 10 minutes and painless! It is over before you even realize it started. Only place to go!

We absolutely would and have recommended Dr.Gills. He is the best we have found in our area. Dr. Pitt Gills operated on me, for cataracts, Jean and Dr. James Gills did ,John, my husbands eyes. Both were fabulous. They are the best in Florida !!

The Journey – Phase II-a Site loss is a journey. A stressful one for most. I had hoped to add, as review, in Phase II, of our surgeon consultation. That has been delayed and this review now titled: NO SHOW / COMMUNICATION. Due to Laurie’s scheduled consultation with Dr. Gills at 7:30am last Thursday we began our preparation the day prior, for an 8hr journey from Atlanta to Clearwater. During the trip we experienced electrical issues with my Kia. Two+ hours later (I’m leaving out all the chaos we encountered) we were once again on our way. Ninety minutes later just prior the Lake City exit my Kia again experienced the same electrical issues. This is not to be about the continued chaos we were experiencing. We believe we were blessed this day; however, this is about “Communication” and a review of St. Luke’s Cataract & Laser Institute. The doctor seemed a little rushed. His diagnosis was understood and he seemed personable and very competent.

I was so impressed with this practice! Everyone was kind, friendly and efficient! Dr. J Gills was thorough, willing to answer any questions and I felt very confident I was at the right place!

He was highly recommended, however he messed up my eyes.  He did Cataract surgery and gave me 20-20 in both eyes, but they are different magnifications giving me double images.   Now I have terrible trouble reading and  working on the computer which is a major handicap for a CPA.Would not trust him or recommend him.

Exceeded expectations, other place tried to upsell me to lens not realistic for me for my cataracts. I have referred my mother and cousin to him, cannot say enough. St Luke’s is a blessing.
