I think they help people die faster
My motherinlaw received wonderful care at this hospice house after it was determined that she would not recover from a stroke. The facility itself is beautiful and exudes a calm and serene atmosphere exactly as I had hoped it would since it was not possible for her to go back to her apartment. She spent 5 days here after transfer from the ICU. She died peacefully in a room that looked more like a nice hotel than institutional. Both her son and I were able to be with her the nurses gave us privacy but were instantly available if we needed help with anything.I am forever grateful to everyone who made her time and our time there pleasant and peaceful. They attended to her needs efficiently and with love. The ceremony they held to recognize her service as a nurse was much appreciated and very touching. Her passing was profound and comfortable and a lot of it was due to the atmosphere surrounding Lifepath Melech Hospice House. If you find yourself in a similar situation you will be in good hands to have a loved one under their care. Caring nurses and caring administrators.
My fatherin law was a patient in that facility for 10 days the average stay for that facility is 3 days.He received RXCELLENT care throughout his stay.. My wife and I stayed with him to the last moments of his life. The staff treated him with absolute dignity from the first minute They understood our need to be with him and treated us with GREAT sensitivity throughout the 10 days and beyondIf you decide to place your loved on there you will not be sorryAnother one of God’s many worksJerry J. You would think that the staff in this line of work would be better able to deal with the family dynamics of an infirmed individual but no. My husband was there and I was made to feel uncomfortable by the nursing staff and the case manager. Even asking for simple basic things such as a washcloth towel pillow blanket and for him to be turned to avoid pressure sores was looked at as an imposition. We left him the first night and came in the next day to find ants in the gauze around his trach only to be told that someone was just in with him with an attitude of dont worry about it. The limiting of 2 visitors at a time left family to sit outside. A nurse came in at one point and stated that there was another family member there so my daughter and I would have to step out as we were gathering our things the nurse asked with a short attitude if we were ok to step out. The nursing staff and the case manager played the family against itself so much so that a password was suggested and implemented on the last day of his life this along with the 6 visitors per day and only 2 allowed in the room cut my visit short and left heart broken grieving family members crying outside his window. We were told that he could have fluids and nutrition while he was there this apparently was not true because we were forced to watch him starve and thirst to death a scenario that was truly agonizing horrid and something that I did not sign up for. Through the hindsight of 2020 I would do alot of things differently mainly keep him in the hospital and never send him to the cold calloused staff of Melech hospice house.
I work as a therapist at a nursing home have always heard great things about Hospice Houses. That they are for the families they are kindunderstanding but sadly this place was the complete opposite. We had a terrible experience when my stepdad passed away there. We wished we would’ve kept him at the hospital. The nurse who recruits new patients to the Hospice House promised our loved one would get the best care but he didn’t receive any of what they said he would. It was all a ploy to get us to send him there. Once he was there he was literally left to die in his bed if we didn’t go there to visit him he would’ve gotten barely any care. Basic things like turning himoral care was not done unless we mentioned it to the staff. The staff just didn’t seem to care seemed to have an attitude of he’s already dying what’s the point. We ended up doing it ourselves most of the time because we wanted him to be comfortable didn’t want any attitude from the staff. He didn’t get the mattress we wanted for him even though that was promised. Also at the the hospital the number of visitors was not limited at all due to COVID Hospice House said they had the same policy as the hospital. But when we got there there could only be 2 visitors in the room at one time they had to take a hall pass w them. Also there were only 6 visitors allowed per 24 hours if you left the premises to get lunch or do anything else you forfeited your visit for the rest of the day. I understand concerns w COVID but really? What’s the point?? It was so horrible. We felt like we couldn’t spend the time we needed w him to say goodbye be there for him together. Even after he passed we went to say our last goodbyes they reminded us that only 2 people were allowed in the room. Are you kidding me?The first night he was there we wanted to stay the night but we ended up going home to get some sleep. When we got there the next day there were tiny ANTS ALL OVER HIS BED AND ALL OVER HIM It was mortifying disgusting and horrifying My stepdad was totally dependent for all care was not alert so there was no way for him to get the ants off of himself. The staff swore they had “just checked on him” but obviously that was not true. It was absolutely the worst thing you could have imagined or seen on your dying loved one.The staff also caused drama in our family turning a horrible situation into a worse one for no reason. They did not obey his wishes as stated in his living will. He indicated in his will that if he were to be incapacitated like he was he wanted nutrition fluids however they did not give him that. At the hospital the hospice nurse told us if we wanted him to get nutritionIV fluids then that could be done however when he was taken there they said they cant do that he’d have to go back to the hospital. How is it that a facility w nurses medical equipment etc. cannot put in an IV or food in a PEG tube. I don’t believe that for a second. At my work we give hospice patients nutritionfluids whatever theythe family want. So my stepdad literally died of starvationdehydration. He was skin bones when he passed. I don’t think anyone would want to die that way. It was inhumane. We felt no compassion from the staff felt as though they were just waiting for him to die so they could hurry and free up his bed. They argued w my mom would not listen to her. They got attitudes w us didn’t appear to like to talk to any of us that weren’t his POA even though we are his family. It was so coldunwelcoming. They were defensive about his care. They said they’d give him fluids if he became alert but how could he be alert w all the sedatives they were giving him? You don’t need to be alert to get IV fluids. A horrible experience all around. I used to think hospice was great since I volunteered in one through this company LifePath many years ago. I will now think twice before recommending hospice to my family memberspatients.
Very kind nursing staff.
I have only good to say. My dad came here today and we knew he would pass soon. It’s was clean and the staff went above and beyond with their kindness. Due to covid only 2 visitors were allowed and they set up chairs outside of his window so we could all look inside. Not only that but they set up a coffee station for us outside. When he did pass the staff couldn’t have been more kind and compassionate. I’m thankful for this experience on our dad’s last day 🙏🏼
Be very careful when you make a decision to move your loved one to this facility. When we arrived after a grueling 45 minute commute that we were not told about they had no information about us except for my mothers DNR. I had to plead to get medical care. By the 2nd day my mother was ignored so badly she was aspirating. I was infuriated and directed that at the staff who told me they wouldnt assist any further unless I changed my attitude which I didnt. I FINALLY was able to get morphine as needed for my mother after this occurred. We didnt see or speak to the doctor until the morning after she aspirated and was stabilized who agreed to increase her pain meds to get her comfortable she died 5 hours later. My mom had stage IV metastatic cancer and was in excruciating pain. They refused to take her BP more than 1xday because shes dying so what does it matter. The ONLY reason I give this place 2 stars is because 3 of the 9 staff members we dealt with actually DID care about her and watched over her properly while we were out for lunch etc.. If I didnt sleep there and spend 80% of her last days with her I cant imagine what her experience would have been like.
Took great care of our loved one and was very considering of the family’s needs during our time of loss. Very informative with updates from the time we arrived to the time of passing. After our father passed away allowed us as much time as we wanted and they made all the calls for the final arrangements. So caring that they even brushed his hair and bathed him after he had passed away. Excellent care
As a caregiver to my Father this facility was not a good fit for us. The nurses CNAs and support staff Blue Wing were amazing and they really CARE. Unfortunately I can NOT say the same for their Nurse Practitioners. Not only was I talked down upon on the first day being told Well he cant live here today I was told You dont make the rules. I did report it and found out that the Nurse Practitioners are contracted out. I would like to thank the supervisors and the rest of the staff for showing compassion love and understanding for our feelings during this difficult time. I am taking my Father home and out of this facility.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process.
