Why is he still a doctor? I came 2 hrs from vancouver for him to tell me to leave because i “was not talking enough” I HAVE ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION which is why i’m there ?! Was treated super poorly idk why he is in this practice when he is so backwards and doesn’t care about my actual issues
He hasn't made one appt on time. First appt was 1.5 hrs late, second 45 mins late, 3rd NEVER EVEN CALLED. So while I am having debilitating anxiety unable to barely leave my house, my appt just gets forgotten?? Trying to get a hold of him is also a challenge. So far today I am on call 15 trying to get in touch with no luck. Just rings and rings and then disconnects you. I need to speak to someone but they just seem to hand out meds instead
He is just incompetent. I’ve been his patient for over a decade, if you can even call it that. My last “consult” with him was 2 mins and 9 seconds long (over the phone) He runs hours late for every appointment and has never been able to help with anything. No matter how much I try and get him to hear me, his only concern is raising my dose of meds from what it previously was. He gives the profession a bad name. He does not understand mental illness or triggers, nor does he care. He cannot help you with anything you are struggling with, I don’t understand why he does not get his license revoked. Terrible, neglectful doc.
He was always late to every appointment we had scheduled. He does not understand or care for patients with eating disorders. He said that he cared but I never felt that. The entire psychiatry staff need to educate themselves, or at least know how to talk politely to patients. A little kindness can go a long way.
He has saved my life 3 times.
Negligent is all I have to say about this doctor adn the system he works in. He was my son's Psychiatrist. He was always late, not with other clients, but sitting in his office. Never made mention of it, ever. Was not interested in what was happening, only interested in medicating my son, not helping him in any way. I have learned from this system is that psychiatrist are legal drug pushers. They are NOT here for their clients well being. I think the general population does not know this. I know it only because we lived it, not only with this psychiatrist. So if you are looking for someone to help, to take the necessary time to hear you in order to give you a proper diagnose, or assist you in finding the support you need to maintain a healthy and mentally balance life you will not find that here. You will get medicated. That is all.
I am bipolar psychotic and have been in a mixed manic and psychotic episode for the past three weeks without the right dose of medication despite asking for antipsychotics and a new mood stabilizer THREE MONTHS AGO. I was delusional while writing my last positive review because I thought Dr. Mathew was micro-dosing me. My mother just had to leave an angry message with Maple Ridge Mental health because of his incompetence. The staff and caseworkers at MR Mental health are fantastic, but the rest of this rating is at 1 because he really needs to retire already or learn how to read a case history. My file and first episode started in 2013 and there are documented hospital records of psychosis that he clearly did not read.
I have only had Dr. Matthew as my psychiatrist for about two months now, but right off the bat in our first phone call, he began asking questions that would be answered in my personal file. Questions I don’t know the answer to. I had to ASK HIM to look at my file, and he didn’t even look at all of it still. He doesn’t listen to me at all, and is arrogant, unknowledgeable, irresponsible and unprofessional. I’m actively trying to find a different psychiatrist, because he is completely useless. My situation is very complicated, but his lack of effort and concern is concerning to me. I had to ask him directly to make medication changes after expressing extreme concern for my health on one of them, and when I picked up my last medication pack, no changes had been made to the file. He has yet to contact them even telling them I’m coming off of one. The way he told me to come off of it made me even more sick, and sent me to the ER. When I told him that he again sounded unconcerned. When I ask him about medications of mine and others, he says he doesn’t know much about them, and to ask my GP. Please, if you can, do not waste your time with him. Go to anyone else
Dr. Mathew may be a little late from time to time.. but doctors who care are often not on time. After all, they’re taking the time to make sure all of their patients are taken care of. He may only spend 5 minutes with you, but that is all the time he needs to access your mental health state. He is the only doctor, who has ever truly listened to me.
Dr. Mathews is one of a kind, he goes out of his way to make you feel like family, I wouldnt be here today without this man and he has blessed family members of mine in the same way. You can trust this man with your life and well-being and be sure that he will provide you the best care available. He is one of the best cardiologist in the country, not to mention Florida. Be at peace with him as a choice for your Doctor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
