PATIENTS IN PERIL Are your love ones in peril due to non-release of medical records? Recently, one of our readers went into a doctors office to try to get the medical records of her 92-year-old father. He has moved out of state and is not feeling well. The geriatric doctor they are said that they need to have his medical records urgently. However, when our reader went into Dr. Jeram P. Chapla’s office in Titusville, Florida, with all of the proper paperwork to obtain his records, the office staff said that they would require 15 days despite the fact that they could be printed in minutes. Granted, the law does state that the office has 30 days to forward records, however, even in such an emergency situation, they refused to speed up the process. What should happen if the patient dies in the meantime? Should our courts hold the physician liable if there was something in the medical record that, unbeknownst to the treating physician, could’ve saved the patients life? This writer suggests that, before seeing a provider, one should ask the office staff what their policy is on releasing medical records in emergent situations. Indeed, it could mean the difference between life and death.
My 92 year old father is in peril, and this officer refuses to release his medical records without a 30 day notice. My father could be dead in 30 days!
Very knowledgeable. Helpful & knows jis job.
I have been to Dr. Chapla three times now, having not had a family physician for years and years, and I didn't really know what to expect. I found him to be very experienced, very smart, and very calming. He doesn't have a fancy office, but he does practice social distancing. Right now only one patient is allowed IN HIS BUILDING at s time. Masks are mandatory. He calls you by name, which I like. He is very caring. I love him!!! I would recommend him to ANYBODY!
Both my husband and myself are Dr. Chapla's patients. I personally LIKE the fact that Dr. Chapla is caring and thorough, and is so clearly dedicated to our health and well-being. He takes his time with his patients and doesn't overbook like other doctors do (which explains why his waiting room isn't typically full). This being said, his front office staff is the WORST I have ever had been in contact with in a doctor's office - in ANY doctor's office. It's a shame. He is such as nice and capable doctor, and it would have been great to see a good quality team to go with him ... Still, if you can put up with rude, uncaring, lazy front office staff, you will be rewarded with excellent medical care ...
He is most importantly a good doctor and is also sweet and kind and caring but his girl in office she is very nasty she gets mad so easily She is efficient but scary to deal with She makes me want to leave but I like Dr. Chapla

Short wait time, efficient staff, competent doctor who was considerate and knowledgeable.
Dr Chapla is an idiot. My father had a mini stroke and he told my dad that he didn't have stroke it was a panic attack!!!! It was confirmed that my father did in fact have a mini stroke. He discharged my father solely because he said my dad "looked fine". REALLY!!! He also discharged my dad before any of his test results were back. Can you say MALPRACTICE!!! DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR!!
My elderly father was in Dr. Chapla's care the last few years of his life. Dr. Chapla is a kind man who treated my dad with great respect. I couldn't have asked for a nicer doctor at the end of my dad's life.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
