Excellent, thorough, and professsional

Exceptionally highly skilled cardiologist. Saved my misbehaving heart from atrial fibrillation twice, in 2019 and then very recently. I was a bit disappointed that neither before, nor after the procedure, neither Dr. Rao, nor any of the nurses spoke with me, or with my wife about the results, about findings of the TEE (Transesophageal echocardiogram), about any follow-up or anything of the essence.

Awful place. Staff extremely rude. I had to find another cardiologist about a year ago due to this office no longer taking my insurance. Requested my records and they stated I needed to be seen at a self pay rat of $150-$200 to get my own medical records!!! That is not right and i left several messages with office manager and she has not called back! Do not go here!!

Absolutely horrible experience. Scheduling was a nightmare to start, and no fewer than twice, staff called to move or cancel my appointment an hour before I was supposed the arrive. It took over 3 months to run basic tests, and I never actually saw Dr Rao. Staff was also incredibly insensitive and rude. When people are going through scary healthy issues for the first time, don’t dismiss their questions. 0/10 would rather have all my teeth pulled than go back here.

VERY disappointing first visit! Was in the treatment room for TWO hours and saw the EKG tech for 10 min, the APRN for 5 and Dr Rao for 4 min. SO unprofessional!

I was recently seen by Dr. Rao as a new cardiac patient. Having done my research and coming in prepared with my new patient paperwork completed and copies of my records, etc, I had high hopes for establishing a good patient doctor relationship, partnering with Dr. Rao to resolve some ongoing issues of great concern to me. His past patient customer ratings and comments had been very good. So I was looking forward to working with such a Doctor and his staff. My initial impressions of his office staff were disappointing, but I still went forward with my first couple of appointments before making any reviews here. I've left voice messages requesting a call back to schedule an appointment a couple of times, but never got a return phone call back. The young lady at the intake desk was brisk, impatient, and did not seem to enjoy her job. Even though I came with all my intake paperwork completed and ready prior to my 1st appointment.  I also brought recent test results, as well as my cardiac health records which were ready to provide for Dr. Rao's reference and to make copies for his file. She seemed to find this extra paperwork to be a burden and let me know it. Communication back from his office is spotty at best. Even hand delivered urgent test results seem to just sit for weeks, and I had to keep calling and keep being proactive to make sure anything good came out of these appointments and phone interactions. I was very pleased that Dr.. Rao offered telephone appointment to review test results, especially if patients had to travel. But the teleconference software did not work on my phone, so we had to arrange a workaround at the last minute for our telephone appointment.  In general, I found the office staff to be unorganized and rushing patients through appointment times especially with the Doctor, by first screening them with an intake Nurse and then a Nurse Practitioner before bringing in the Doctor.  So by the time he came in, he rushed through the new appointment meeting that I had spent hours and hours preparing for, and many days waiting for. He basically breezed in and out and I certainly did not feel like I had seen or met with a Doctor who was interested or cared about getting to know me or my complicated health history before assuming he knows enough to properly treat me. That first appointment did not sit well with me at all. I knew no more about this man afterward than I had before I went in, except that he didn't have time for the patients he was asking/expecting to trust him with their very vital heart organ and their very life. Not surprisingly,  Dr. Rao also seemed unfocused and disorganized and would have given me 2 yr old test results if I had not had my own copy of the most recent test results right in front of me at the time.  I think this is not his fault, but that of a disorganized staff that supports him. Once I was able to get our conversation focused and go through my own pre-prepated list of questions and notes, Dr. Rao was able to interact very well with me and together we agreed on a plan for my cardiac care going forward that addressed my concerns and made me feel heard, but also I think helped him to organize his own thoughts and understanding of my complicated health history . So, I'm giving this Doctor and his staff an opportunity to improve when I go back for my follow-up appointment in 4 months. I really hope this review will be taken seriously and not offensively,  but as constructive, vital information that's important to the overall health of Dr. Rao's medical office as a business and to his medical practice in general. It is intended to help improve, not hurt or cause harm. Best wishes.
