List of Dilendra Weerasinghe's Reviews
Dr. Weerasinghe is an excellent advanced surgical specialist. He is a gentlemen and outstanding individual. It is a pleasure being his patient, having the honor to meet him and getting to know him.Written on behalf of Bernard Kingsley by his daughter.
First appointment with him, took a call during my appointment, waited for 20 mins for him to come back to talk to me. Colonoscopy made me wait over 2 hours before I even got back to the room. Then got an attitude with me cause I was pissed off about waiting. Very unprofessional so called surgeon. Would like an apology for an attitude that you got with me.
Absolutely amazing talented surgeon He saved my dads life !
Dr. Weerasinghe saved my life! I had Stage 4 kidney failure and was three points away from having to be put on dialysis. At age 82, my doctors in Michigan would not perform the surgery, as the age limit is 70. I came to Florida to be interviewed and evaluated by Dr. Weerasinghe. He reviewed my health records thoroughly and agreed to perform bariatric surgery. He did an excellent job and my kidney numbers improved after surgery from a Stage 4 to a Stage 3. I gained back my energy, my confidence, and all my health numbers improved, including not having pre-diabetes anymore. Dr. Weerasinghe is a caring, competent, and a wonderful human being. He is one of the nicest person I have ever met and really cares about his patients. He treats each patient like family. My quality of life has improved, thanks to the skilled hands and warm heart of Dr. Weerasinghe. I had surgery in May, 2020. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Weerasinghe. He is amazing.
I recently came to the Medical Center of Trinity pain inmy stomach and being unable to have a bowel movement and was diagnosed with a bowel blockage. To my surprise it was a cancer. I was fortunate to find Dr Weersingh who was kind and caring. I have not had much run ins with doctors but I know a genuine and caring man when I see one. He did surgery with small holes and I went home in a few days. I was told by the nurses in the hospital that the doctor was the best and the most caring surgeon in the hospital. They also told me that I was lucky that due to the skill of the doctor a bag had been avoided. I thank you doctor and may god bless you. I would highly recommend him.
Had my appendix out recently. He performed a laparoscopic surgery. I had no pain no residual effects very little scarring. I took no pain meds when I left. Just antibiotics. I’m almost 74 yrs old & im back to my normal workout schedule. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank this Dr for a great job. Thank you very much for your excellent handling of my surgery
My personal experience with Dr. Weerasinghe started in November of 2019 when I attended the weight-loss support group. In December of 2019 or January of 2020 was when I decided to to through Bariatric Surgery. Due to Covid, having the procedure took longer than I expected, but I was able to have my surgery, Gastric Bypass, on October 7, 2020. This really is pretty major surgery, but because of his technique and using non-opioid anesthesia, I was able to return home the next day. While he was performing the surgery, he found that I also had a hiatal hernia and he repaired that as well. I took it easy at home for a few days, but was pretty much able to do just about anything I needed to do aside from lifting anything heavy for a while. The care of him and his staff was stellar.I had actually met "Dr. W" several months before my first appointment with him as he came in to do emergency surgery on my mother-in-law. He was on vacation and was traveling home when he got the call from another doctor asking him if he could come in to do her surgery. He later told me that he just gave the car a little more gas and got here as quick as he could. He saved her life that day and just a few months later as she was in the hospital with pain that they couldn't figure out, he happened to be walking by her room and he saved her life again as he diagnosed her with a heart related condition and called in a cardiologist to take care of her.He really does care for each of his patients. He asks me every time he sees me about my mother-in-law, and he even remembers her name. I wasn't the most obese patient he's had - I was clinically obese and was never successful in keeping my weight off after losing it. Some doctors would probably frown on performing weight-loss surgery on me because I wasn't "big enough", but I had severe underlying health conditions. I had 3 heart stents, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and a history of heart, cholesterol, and blood pressure problems in my family. I've lost right at 60 pounds now - I'm no longer diabetic, my cholesterol is in check - both good and bad cholesterol are in good ranges, my blood pressure is pretty stable and in a month I'll most likely be off all my meds except for a low dose aspirin once a day. At one time, I was on no less than 9 medicines. While my I wasn't in imminent danger of losing my life - I was walking down that pathway, he has given me a life back that I didn't realize I was missing. Due to an injury, I had not been able to throw a ball of any kind for over 20 years. I kid you not that within 2 weeks after my surgery, I could throw the ball again pain free. It was a combination of all the inflammation leaving my body and the literal weight being lifted off my shoulder. There are so many benefits to this surgery that honestly the weight-loss seems to sometimes just be a side benefit. I 100% recommend Dr. Weerasinghe and his staff. They are all top shelf in my opinion.
Doctor Weerasinghe I’ll be forever grateful to this Doctor is hard to find Doctors like him this days a man that cares a man that don’t give up no matter what day or time his always there with a smile on his face, a man that goes out of his way to help you on every way that he can thank you Doctor Weerasingher for not giving up on me and stay be my side though all of this. We are blessed to have Dr. Weerasinghe in our area. He is a wonderful Doctor that is saving life’s and doing remarkable achievements in the area of surgery. He saved my father’s life and I will be forever grateful. He is honest and forthright and truthful regarding the heath care of patients. He also has a great sense of humor but mostly I love his care and compassion for helping his patients. Thank you Dr. Weerasinghe for your services to our community.
Had my surgical consult today with Dr Weerasinghe for my c-section area hernia.Apparently, not only am I "too large" for the hernia surgery as it will "just happen again" (I am 285 lbs), but despite my success with weight loss (33 lbs down in 9 weeks as of this morning), because I have this "disease" called obesity, I will just end up gaining the weight all back within the next 6 months and will only ever be successful with weight loss if I have bariatric surgery.I chewed him up one side and down the other and threw statistics about bariatric surgery failures back at him since he wanted to throw some my way about unsuccessful weight loss with diet and exercise.I told him I will absolutely never be returning to his office. And then I cried on the phone to my friend in the parking lot until I felt calm enough to drive home.Called PCP for new referral on the way home.I have never in my life been told by a doctor that lifestyle changes and exercise are WORTHLESS. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that he would sit there with a person he has never met before and tell them they will only ever be healthy if they have a weight loss surgery. This doctor displayed a disgusting abuse and manipulation of power and authority, and I can only feel sad for others that he may have convinced to have this surgery before attempting wellness without it.Even bariatric surgery requires documented evidence of TRIED AND FAILED diet and lifestyle changes before approval. Guess what? I haven't failed.🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
