List of Rami Akel Md's Reviews
Had a 3:30 appointment. Didn’t get called in until 5:30. We liked Dr Akel once we got to see him. When we first arrived the lady at the desk asked for our insurance card. When we left I was going to give her the copay but she said there isn’t any. When we got home I got to thinking about it. It turns out that they are not in our network. She should have told me that when I gave her my insurance card. At that point we would have left and not wasted three hours. Now I have to find another Dr that accepts our insurance.
I was admitted to Trinity Medical Center 4 days after knee replacement with blood clots in my lungs. Dr Akel was the attending Cardiologist. Dr Akel was one of the kindest caring doctors I have ever encountered. In my dangerous medical situation he put my mind at ease and listened to what I had to say and explained what ways we could go with my medical situation. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Akel.
He did a catheter on me at Bayonet point hospital. Never personally met the man. Been going to his Hudson office for 4 yrs. Had an appointment for 3 months for an echo. Called them the morning of to find out he separated from his business partner to go on his own. They never called me or sent a letter to cancel my appt. They also informed me that he no longer accepts my insurance. Very unprofessional, inconsiderate, and would never trust him with my heart again! Never met the guy in 4 years of frequent visits.
Saved my husbands life. I would Highly recommend him to anyone with heart problems
Dr Akel is the best. All the doctors and staff in the office are friendly and professional. Highly recommend
I had to have my leg stented 2times. When I went in I had a numbness in my toes. After the first surgery I couldn’t walk without a cane. After the second surgery my feet and both legs were numb. And they would go numb while I was walking and sometimes I would fall. I don’t want to go see him again. I’m scared to go back.
Yesterday had an appointment for 3:30 and waited till 6:00 before dr came in the room. I went for a follow up after a stay in the hospital for a heart attack. Before I left the doctors office I thought I was going to have another heart attack. The PA came in the room and she went over everything with me and was very good but surly didn’t need to wait hours see the doctor. He spent less than two minutes with me but by that time I was so angry I didn’t hear a thing he said. It was a bad experience from the office girl to the doctor
Dr. Akel is the most arrogant doctor I have ever met. I was referred to him for leg vein treatment. My first visit, I waited almost an hour. Second visit was for procedure #1. I waited almost 2 hours for procedure. Third visit, I waited almost 3 hours! Then he just nonchalantly saunters in like is was no big deal. I was supposed to have a follow up 6 months later. He couldn't be bothered to show up, so they said I would have a telephone follow up. He was 4 hours late calling me. I told him I had better not be charged for the call. This man needs to learn how to manage his time. My time is precious, and I don't expect to have to wait forever for this guy. He's a great Dr. for his skills.
This A$$ needs to be fired my fiancé who as diagnosed with brain cancer taking radiation and chemo every day was referred by by 3 different Dr’s for his cardiology problems my fiancé sat in the office for 2 hrs the snots working behind overbook and are very disrespectful ! When he asked how much longer they got an attitude he was moved from room to room and to top it all the Dr Akel 2 hrs late threatened him for complaining about his wait and told him to leave didn’t check his heart or anything. I will be filing a medical complaint with American medical association I will he contacting a lawyer and I will ensure his attitude is straightened out Don’t go there he’s worthless he forgot his oath to save people’s lives he put my fiancé’s in jeopardy of having a heart attack
Dr. Akel and his staff are pleasant enough. He does great work. But...his timeliness is atrocious. I have had three scheduled vein procedures. Every time, I have been made to wait approximately 2 hours for him to actually show up! My time is just as important as his. This is completely disrespectful.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
