Just had a bad experience as a new patient. Too many other options and I can see they clearly have a consistent problem with rude front office staff.

Very unfriendly receptionist at the beginning of my appointment on 8/25 and a very lazy and hostile ending with the optical department employee that was more concerned with a personal call on her cellphone while I PATIENTLY waited. Was still arguing and trying to get them to order contacts after 3 hours. They finally wore me down and I got much better service from untrained employees at the WalMart down the road and it only took about 20 minutes to order the contacts.

Received letter with new time and day of my appointment. Came in time but office was closed.Will get something more responsible

Was referred to the Community Eye Center of Venice by the Senior Friendship Center for a basic eye exam with the knowledge I did not have insurance. I've had exams and they have only cost me $50-$70. I was absolutely shocked when they told me after the exam i owed $217.00. I questioned the amt. and was told that it was discounted from $317.00. Again this was a basic exam. This bothered me so much that i called numerous places that perform exams from a local dr. In venice to a well known company lenscrafters..the range was $50 to $80. These places were shocked when told them i was charged $217. I decided to call and I spoke with Ashley at Community Eye Center about my concerns. I questioned why I wasn't told this prior to exam and she said I should of been made when aware when I scheduled exam and told them I had no insurance. She said that they can't charge less then what medicare allows..I told her I don't have medicare and asked for a supervisor to call me. Well i got a call back from Ashley telling me that she talked with a supervisor and could offer me a discount of $30. Again she brought up medicare. I asked again to speak to a supervisor and was told I'd have to wait till Monday. This has bothered me for numerous reasons...do they charge seniors this price without being informed first. I have informed The Senior Friendship Center of this so others are not misinformed. This is absolutely unacceptable and I should have received a call from a supervisor today. I made it clear this was really upsetting me. I will update with how this unfolds..just be aware..

Worst experience, Had optical insurance, and thought this company was reputable. Ordered top of the line frames with transitional lens, all paid for in advance. The glasses were made incorrectly 3 times and after waiting 3 mos. the glasses I finally received were still not correct. They refunded a portion of the cost for the inconvenience and mistakes. Today I received a collection notice for $10, unbelievable. Steer clear of this outfit. Very unprofessional.

Had an eye emergency, got me in immediately, insurance covered, great service, great dr, great people. Found a new eye dr. Very great people.

Would give a zero if I could .. be warned worst place you can go. When I went some of the staff was very unprofessional, and they had completely got my prescription wrong. I had to go to another doctor because my eyes were bothering me. On top of that they give me contacts and said I didn't owe anything, now being a year later they decided to bill me... a year later!!! Worst place I have ever been!Side note: My insurance paid them for the appointment and for part of the contacts and they are billing me $50 for the other part, in which they did not get my prescription right. Once again it has been a year later in which I was billed, and this is after i was told nothing was owed. I had to see another eye doctor who fixed my prescription so I could actually see! I have been going to an eye doctor since I was 8 and have never had a problem until community eye center. With respect to their patients, these things should not happen.

Terrible service...they never answer the phone in venice and Instead call gets relayed to port charlotte where they tell you someone will call me back....tried 9 times in last 10 days and i did finally get a call but the girl couldn't help me and said someone would call. Never got a call. Now is over 6 weeks to just get a prescription filled. Dr Batzer seems thorough but his help is horrible. They tell me the problem is they have one incoming line...what a pathetic excuse. Don't use this company
