Dr. Atwater is a fantastic doctor and his bed side manor is A+. He speaks to you not down to you like a lot of physicians do these days. He took the time to explain everything to me to put me at ease for my surgery. I will also say that I have had other surgery's in the past and this was the first where I had no pain from the incision area. He is truly an artist to accomplish this. His staff is very friendly and contrary to other reviews I have never had to wait for them to bring me in. I would highly recommend him if you have any back problems. Call them!
Dr Atwater has operated on me three times..All totally successful Made a 100% back to normal..went from being incapacitated to doing everything including golf...He is fully vested in all patients and cares deeply his bedside manner makes you feel as though you are his only patient
Dr. Atwater and his staff are the best! Knowledgeable and professional with the best bedside manner. He and his awesome team have been helping me for around 2 years now to recover from a car accident with injuries. Every procedure including my recent surgery has been steps in the direction of recovery. I am so blessed to have them. It's been so hard and they have been there helping the whole time. I am feeling better day at a time and I am so glad I have Dr. Atwater as my doctor and surgeon. Surgery went amazing, and I had faith it would because of how much I trust him and how great he's been to me. He always is sure to clearly listen, communicate, and show me he cares about me and wants me to get better! 10/10. Special thanks to Maureen and the rest of the office staff for all you do!
The staff has always been very pleasant and knowledgeable. Both office locations are immaculate. Dr. Atwater takes his time to throughly explain things. I've never felt rushed while asking questions. Dr. Atwater is a very kind and compassionate doctor whom I highly recommend.

As a Retired medical professional I am beyond appalled at the care this office staff has given to my daughter. A patient that comes in with severe back pain is to have an MRI and the patient has had prior back surgery elsewhere years ago now has foot drop. severe back pain not relieved by laying g down and worse with sitting . Can't drive now and wears a tens unit because of severe spasm. Sciatica pain and loosing bladder control. Office staff takes 10 days to submit a request to insurance and does not mark the request urgent then dies no follow up until 2 weeks later after the patient calls them. Then told it is under medical review All the while can't sleep can't drive and loosing bladder control. Patient calls insurance company and tells ins Co. Symptoms. The insurance company tells patient to call Dr Atwater to tell them to submit it again as urgent. The office resubmitted and gets an approval but doesn't call the patient to schedule MRI. Patient calls Dr Atwater to tell them that insurance has approved request and and they notilontly say. Oh yeah they approved it a few days ago. So why didn't they schedule with the patient asap. The office staff are definately not trained properly for an urgent situation. And poor telephone etiquette saying oh yeah its been here for days Is the doctor understaffed with professional medically trained orthopedic staff. Now they want to put of scheduling MRI for another month. Will this patient in their 40's be in diapers Then you have to pay for your MRI discount and a dollar a page for records. Step up care Dr. ATWATER. VERY POOR TREATMENT
I would not come within 100 miles of John Atwater. I was considering referring someone to him but after what I've heard from family, friends, business acquaintances and reviews online, that a HARD NO! I would NEVER expect a patient to wait an hour or two in the waiting room and then be shuttled to the exam room for another 30 minutes and then have 10 minutes with the "doctor." I've also been told that "staff" loses information and tests, they don't submit approval for insurance because they are so busy and understaffed that they forget to get approval and then blame it on the insurance company. Meanwhile the patient is stressed to the limit because until they get insurance approval, they can't receive the much needed services and have to endure in pain even longer. No. This doesn't work for me. Stop being so cheap and hire more staff. Patients come to the "doctor" because they are hurting, vulnerable and need professional care. It is unethical to put patients through anguish. They are already in anguish when they come to a doctor's door looking for kindness, compassion and good care. Run, don't walk away from this place.
Do not even bother to come in on time for your appointment! You are going to sit in the waiting room for abot 45 min or more ,and then in the exam room for another 30 minutes to see the doctor which would spend on average 10 minutes with you and then go on to the next pt.
Very Friendly & Helpful Staff. They've Been Around for a While. Dr. Atwater try to Help ME Every Which Way Before Doing Surgery. Good People. I was Comforted by Him & Staff. Gave ME Lots of Pamphlet, Info & Even a Disk for the Type of Surgery I Need for MY Back. And Even Then Before Throwing ME to the Wolves, Practically Sat There and Went Over the Whole Procedure with ME, Even Though I was Scared 😱 & Still Am 😳, HE Kind of Gave ME a Reassurance and Made ME Feel More Comfortable After HE was Done, That I Wasn't as Scared When I Left There, 💯.. Doesn't Push YOU Into Doing Something YOU Don't Feel Comfortable Doing, but Told ME That I Couldn't get the Surgery Yet, Cause I had Another Problem with MY Kidneys, Even After Getting ME Comfortable to Wanna do it... Thanks 👍 Atwater & Staff for Being There for ME, Angel 😇...
I will forever be grateful to Dr. Atwater for giving me my quality of life back. He did back surgery on me about 6 years ago and I feel wonderful. He is The BEST! I will never forget him. He also has wonderful bedside manner. Just an excellent Dr in every way. Still thanking you Dr. Atwater. Wish every Dr was like him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
