He did a procedure on me went very bad 4 months later still have complications
You will need a referral to go to this doctor and it must be dropped off at their office before you can set up an appointment. I did; they lost the referral. I reported the fact to my doctor, who sent the second referral to them. I called the office; they could not find it. I repeated the same reason for my call over and over during my 20 minutes phone call on-out of "on hold". The on hold call took so long that it got transferred to the operator. The call from the operator then got transferred to an "answering service". When I placed my original call over a month ago I had an issue. Now it seems to have gone away, but I am still due for a colonoscopy. My mother-in-law had similar ordeal, where she had an issue but the appointment was set up for 5 months later. I hope this doctor is worth of all this nightmare service.
Worst service ever. Before you set an appointment, his office requires a referral (not an insurance issue, just his own issue), which must be dropped off. I did dropped off; they lost the referral. They said they’d call my doctor; never did. I had my doctor send a second referral; they couldn’t find (“ we have so many referrals”, they said). After over 20 min on hold, they dropped my call. With a service this bad, I don’t think he is truly interested in patients. Looking for someone else.
I think Dr Bird is a great Gastroenterologist. He did both upper Gi and Colon, I was very pleased with Dr Bird and his staff, at St Lucie west hospital.
thought I would ask before i went. I ll try another
Staff is rushed, Dr. Bird doesn't seem to care about patients. Tried to schedule testing for possible intestinal blockage and got scheduled for six weeks later. Patient ended up in hospital. Second time this schedule mess happened. 1st time we went elsewhere. Shouldn't have even tried him a second time.
Called for a refill Thursday and Friday received a call back finally at 4 pm Monday showed how much the care about there patients
Saw me in the hospital First time Was good Told me to do a follow up with the office held online for 20 minutes with central scheduling want me to wait a month help me haul his office which was also sort of scheduling department told me one month explained I had just gotten out of the hospital could’ve cared less “I told you he doesn’t have any openings“ I want to another doctor office staff horrible very unpleasant
If he wants you to do the 2 day Suprep prior to colonoscopy, cancel and find someone else. 6PM drink bottle of Citrate of Magnesium. The next evening at 9PM use one bottle of Suprep. Then drink 2nd bottle at 3AM the next morning. No liquids after 5 AM. My procedure was scheduled for 12:30 PM. I would have gone 63 hours with no solid food. I chose a different doctor that allowed a light breakfast, started drinking prep at 1:00 PM. The next morning, had my colonoscopy at 9:00 AM. I was home and eating lunch by 1:00 PM. Ask before you schedule. Dr. Bird's prep was over the top and unnecessary. I don't know why he would put a patient through this. Just because a "doctor" says this is how it is. doesn't mean you have to agree. Research and ask questions first. None of this felt right to me and I made a decision for myself that turned out to be the right decision.
Good luck with them answering the phone. Had a colonoscopy and needed medicine for my ulcers, had problems with my insurance and the dosage of the medicine. So I contacted them over almost 2 weeks and they never respond.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
