List of Keith A Aqua's Reviews
Doctor Aqua is amazing and he delivered 2 of my baby’s. Office stuff is just 0 stars - I hope it’s will be changed in future- very unprofessional , pure organizing appointments. To talk to someone on the phone - you can be on hold for 40-1,5 hours - ??? Did a appointment for ultrasound for 2.30 and dr appointment at 3.15 - so on the end appointment for ultrasound was around 2.50 and dr appointment only around 3.40 . So I spent 2 hours for a 15 minutes ultrasound and 10 min dr appointment. Disappointed with receptionist very much!
When I first started seeing Dr. Aqua he seemed caring and concerning for my different needs. Over time, that begins to dwindle as I feel it is all a show just to get you hooked into coming to his clinic (as do others that have seen him feel the same that I have spoken to.) Each session you begin to feel more and more rushed by him. I went in for an IUD one day and my IUD placement ended up not being correct (after having to go to get another appointment for an ultrasound a week or so later). The ultrasound tech that day ended up leaking to me that it wasn’t in place (which she wasn’t suppose to do) and I was an absolute mess until I finally received a call from Aqua’s office confirming that it indeed, wasn’t in place. I decided the Non-hormonal copper IUD was the best option for me so I decided to give it another try. After numerous visits and multiple co-payments it was confirmed that it was in place. In these months of this entire process I went off hormonal bc permanently that I had been on from age 18-28. I had never really gotten in touch with my body and “in tune” with my natural cycle before so I wanted to start to since hormonal bc gave me nasty side effects that I could no longer handle. I began tracking my cycle and tracking my waking temp to see if I had begun ovulating yet since I had read literature in the naturopathic community on “post birth control syndrome” and how it can take time for your body to start ovulation again. So it had appeared I had begun ovulation and having “real periods” again but I wanted to know for sure. So I bought an ovulation predictor kit to try out. My result appeared I had begun ovulating but I wasn’t 100% sure, so in my follow-up one month IUD placement check I figured I’d ask Dr. Aqua about it. First, he seemed to be so distracted by something (what was going on in his head I guess) that he didn’t even appear to listen to what I was asking. Then he goes “wait, what are you talking about?” Then I proceed to explain to him the ovulation test (again) which he seemed totally unfamiliar with (which I wish he would’ve just admitted instead of acting above me and all-knowing) and asked why I was even doing that. I explained to him that in the naturopathic community, a woman feels optimally her best when she is ovulating and producing all the hormones she needs (hence why I was suffering from anxiety on the pill because I was not ovulating) and I was simply trying to get more “in tune” with my natural cycle for the first time in my life and get better at understanding my feelings and emotions at different times of the month. He simply dismissed and invalidated me and said “Well a woman doesn’t always ovulate every single month and you’re not going to ovulate every month.” As if I didn’t already know that (insert eye roll here). He finally answered my original question and said “Well, you probably did ovulate” then followed up with the most shaming comment I have ever heard from a doctor in my life and said “Those kits are really just a waste of money and it’s not important to be ovulating if you’re not trying to get pregnant. How much do those those even cost, like $30? You should just take that money you spent on one of those and go buy yourself a nice bottle of wine or something.” I was appalled at how unprofessional that was. Essentially shaming a woman for simply wanting to understand her own body. Needless to say, I didn’t go back there for my follow up IUD check appointment a year later. The new office I went to the nurse practitioner was very respectful and listened and validated my concerns. She wasn’t able to view my IUD strings through a physical exam and was able to get me in for an ultrasound check in it THE SAME DAY. Then the Dr. She works under confirmed that the pregnancy coverage seemed to be “undetermined” because my IUD was in between the upper and lower segment of the uterus (optimal protection coverage is in the upper segment). Was this Dr. Aqua’s doing or simply my uterus rejecting the device? We will not know until I go in for a 3rd attempt with a new doctor. Also, it was determined that my IUD strings were cut to short and will need to be removed through ultrasound guidance or possibly hysteroscopic surgery. My friend also had the same issue with her IUD from Aqua, had to be removed surgically under anesthesia because her strings were cut too short. And unlike Aqua’s office that requires ANOTHER paid visit to check placement a week later, I’ll be able to get my placement checked right after the visit, same day.
Dr. Aqua has been of concern to me, but, the last visit I was so angry at his negligence; I have since switched to another doctor in the practice. Before my last visit, I had to see another doctor for an emergency visit. The office staff is most friendly and accommodating. When I went to see Dr. Aqua, he walked in and asked me what medications this doctor prescribed for me. I told him, forgetting one medication. Thinking the entire time; that he didn't bring my medical records in with him. Had he not been negligent; he would not have had to ask me. Then, he said he would prescribe medication and after receiving the results back from the culture; would call in the second prescription. He never called in either prescription. Being low in hormones, he provided hormone therapy, but, never explained the different options. And he gave me estrogen without progesterone, which will cause cancer from the first time I received hormones. He told me this after he put the injections in; that he will need to do a blood test because he thought I had a hysterectomy. Again, he is so rushed, does take the time to read my medical records, and has made egregious errors with my health.
Having been with Dr. Aqua for over one year, and not very satisfied; I finally became so angry at his negligent behaviors that I switched to another doctor in the practice. Dr. Aqua came into my last appointment not knowing what medications were prescribed to me by the doctor I last saw for an emergency visit. I ended up informing him of the medications; forgetting one. He obviously didn't have my medical chart with him and expected me to inform him. That is unethical and professional. During that visit, he said he would prescribe medication until the results from the culture were returned. He never prescribed the first medication nor the second. He is rushed and not able to discuss my concerns. Also, getting treatment for my low hormones he did not explain the different options to receiving them. I am seeing a psychiatrist and am on medication; yet, he wants to promote his CBD. He is delving into psychotropic pharmacology; which is not his expertise.
Dr Aqua is the best. My husband and I love him. He has helped us through a lot. He’s a great dr.
I was seeing Dr. Aqua for about a year and a half every 6 months because of abnormal pap smears. He was great in the beginning and he comforted my worries of my abnormal results. The last two visits I had with him, he didn't really answer my questions and when I asked about why I keep getting abnormal results he immediately jumped to the conclusion that either I or my husband have had a new partner (obviously didn't make me feel good).
I’ve been going to Dr. Aqua for the past 12 years. He’s my favorite doctor I’ve ever seen! I almost wish he was a primary care physician so I could go to him for everything. Obgyn visits aren’t usually the most comfortable type of exams you could have, but with him I’m completely at ease. I can’t recommend him enough!
If I could put zero I would. Left a message over a week ago and he has yet to return my call. Office manager was dismissive about the outrageous charges I was left with after a breast exam that I’m still receiving bills for totaling close to $800.00 out of pocket when I was expressly told these tests would be covered by my insurance. Seems as if he packed as many tests as he could into the visit even if they weren’t necessary. The situation was not explained by him or anyone on his staff . Rushed me through so fast he missed a test on my blood panels and weirdly had to have me draw blood again which I also got charged for. No one in this office actually seems to care about the patient so be careful you don’t end up paying for their dismissive and insensitive behaviors.
Dr. Keith Aqua and the Institute for Women's Health and Body and been amazing throughout my pregnancy journey thus far, and overall as my OBGYN since moving to Florida 2-years ago. He's very personable and considerate as well as all of the staff. The office is clean and inviting, they move very quickly to get you in and out, and the services are top notch. I haven't given birth to my child yet, but I feel that I'm in good hands with Dr. Aqua and staff.
Dr. Aqua and his staff are awesome! I've been a patient of his for about 3 years now. Every time I go in there I feel like I am top priority, I don't feel rushed, my questions are answered, and I feel confident that I am getting the best care. I would highly recommend Dr. Aqua and his staff!
