Philip Bongiorno's Online Review Report Card

MY wife had "ground glass" tumors in one of her lung lobes. We were referred to Dr Bongiorno, who consulted and then operated to remove the tumor. We were very satisfied with the outcome; surgery was successful (we are still waiting for biopsy results). Dr Bongiorno appears to be efficient and very skillful. My only criticism has to do with the initial consultation. the pulmonologist who referred him stated that removal of the apparent tumor would end the problem, at least for now, and Dr Bongiorno concurred, assuring us that this was the recommended procedure. At a subsequent visit he stated that that the ultimate outcome would be determined by the biopsy results post surgery. We either misunderstood him or he changed his prognosis between consultations. I believe that the story changed. But regardless, this was a minor glitz and both Dr Bongiorno and especially the staff at the hospital were AMAZING.

Prior to his arrival, I was visited by his LPN Melanie and his PA. Both very considerate and caring. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Bongiorno and his staff. All very engaging, very informative and very kind. He spent extra time discussing my issue and the surgical operation I need to do and why. Very compassionate as to what I was going through. I can only imagine the quality of care and the follow through I will experience after the surgery has been completed. Cudos to Cleveland Clinic for their entire staff. Can't even imagine going anywhere else for ALL my medical needs. All my medical care is completed at Cleveland Clinic Weston, FL.

Surgeon was very knowledgeable and my recovery was without complications. I would highly recommend him.

Took my husbands cancer out of his lung without a biopsy, later husbands cancer spread like wildfire. Should have used other methods instead of taking growth out. My husband died later same year.

my husband was admitted in emergency treatment for a possible heart attack, when xray taken lump was found in his right lung, Dr.Bongiorno immediately suggested a operation to remove the lump, after removal of lump with no biopsy taken, the doctor said I can take an biopsy but I know that it is cancer. So my husband who had so much faith in doctors had the lump removed. Husband died 7 mo. later due to cancer spread, doc. did not even see husband during his death,left hospital wonder why?

I am generally a reasonable person, and I have never gone to a website to comment on anyone, but this guy is a jerk. I wouldn't recommend this physician to anyone. Perhaps he is a good surgeon, but he can't get over himself, and I certainly wouldn't let him take me to the operating room.
