I would not recommend this doctor. After the surgery he had no interest in my well-being nor did I see him ever after. He always sent his residents. He was dismissive and evasive, regarding questions total lack of empathy or care.
Dr. Rosenthal's office canceled my wife's appointment, she'd had for quite some time, with less than 24 hours notice, stating he was out of office on a 2 week vacation they had known about for some time. The scheduling coordinator who called took no responsibility for the mistake, even though she admitted she'd know of the problem since the previous week and hadn't canceled the appointment in MyChart. Terrible way to treat patients.
Dr R showed us his skills are greatly lacking after performing a surgery he said he had done hundreds of times. He had NO direction with my husbands plan of care soon after the surgery when complications started, but rather let his care be taken over by the rotating ICU Drs. It was soon identified there was a hole at the surgical site. Dr R told us it was a PIN hole and would heal on it's own. I found out through medical records the hole was LARGE...which was drastically different from Dr R patient info. Dr R was out of town for extended periods of time often, so he provided his Cell #. Dr R refused anyone to perform medical procedures in his absence, which caused more and more complications. Unfortunately all the material he had my husband swallow in the testing caused a huge amt to pour out that LARGE hole. Dr R had no plan as to how best to treat this situation. Extremely sad.
Dr Rosenthal is an amazing Dr , if he can't fix others Dr' negligence or mistakes, no Dr can do ,he is a professor, he save my life, without him I will be dead, he really is incredible Dr , very professional and super smart and wisdom, he save a lot of people life ,I love him !!
We were facing a non emergent situation. Went to see Dr R to find out options available to us. Yes he drew a picture and explained the best options. Shared how many thousands of these particular procedures he has done. Made it sound like it would be an in and out with some hospital days. Soon after the surgery Dr R went on lengthy vacation. His 2nd in command demonstrated to us he had no idea of the plan once complications started occurring. We felt no one was directing the plan the entire stay. Actually there never seemed to be a plan. It soon became that the patient in this situation, was an experiment. Drs tried one thing to correct the first complication...which in turn caused another complication...then they tried something else that ended up causing another complication. This went on for months. We felt all these procedures done after the botched surgery, dealt with everything but the actual problem. The hole left at the surgical site, where Dr R might have thought about placing more sutures. The patient was tortured with repeated procedures almost daily. Dr R response was...lets give it another week. This was the statement he would say for months. That statement plus how his procedure gave the patient 25 more years of life. Also he stated that complications can not be foreseen. Well we thought had he actually assessed the patient instead of standing across the room, as well as actually listening to what concerns we had, these complications most likely would NOT have happened. Plus we felt it is best if the Dr was in town more, which he was NOT. If we could do it all over again, we should have been more aware of the red flags. He was very full of himself. Unfortunately after 8+ months of this torture in the ICU, the patient said he couldn't stand to go through anymore, and the patient passed 2 days later at home. When I shared this horrible news with Dr R, he said he didn't realize he was that sick. Are you kidding me. So my confidence in Dr R was totally shaken. The whole situation was unnecessary and devastating. The absolutely worse part of this entire nightmare, was finding out after the fact, that we were NOT being told the whole picture. We were facing a life changing situation and weren't told the same things at that time as I later read in the medical reports. What happened to honest information when being faced with choices. Choosing Dr R changed our lives forever. That was a decision we wished we would have NEVER made. We can't go back in time, but hopefully this will help someone else when making their choice of Drs.
As a physician I would never recommend this General Surgeon or his department at the Cleveland Clinic of Weston. He as well as his surgical coordinator are both completely dishonest and unprofessional individuals with no feeling whatsoever towards their patients medical conditions. His surgical coordinator KB, is simply an unstable & remorseless person who has no place in healthcare. No place whatsoever. At the initial visit he appears to be a cooperative caring person which is simply a mere disguise falsely to his true self and very deceptive practice in all aspects. I would highly encourage others as a physician to seek other care providers who are more experienced, have better technique in the O.R. and simply caring towards their patients. Not even one month later after discharging this doctor and his staff from my medical team, I had a very successful surgery with an outstanding surgeon, physician and overall amazing person who most importantly was more competent and had better technique as a surgeon.

Recently had surgery with him at Cleveland Clinic. Very happy with the care and results and highly recommend him. I had a very bad hiatal hernia and sought him out due to his reputation for this specific procedure. The whole team at Cleveland Clinic Weston is wonderful.
Hello, I brought my grandmother to see Dr. Rosenthal for a consultation for a hiatal hernia surgery. Dr. Rosenthal’s staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Rosenthal explained the surgery in great deal and clearly.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
