List of Carol Bloomquist Mikulka's Reviews
I was under her care for around 20 years! I am so thankful for her care and Guidance. She is straight forward, assists in helping you to understand yourself better and helps you find the tools you need to be the best you can be. I always felt like she genuinely cared. She coplimented my success and celebrated my achievements in low key consistency. I could always count on her guidance, acknowledgement and understanding at every appointment. I found her very helpful. I was reluctant to leave a public review, but after seeing all the negative experiences reported I wanted to share my perspective.
I saw her quite a few years ago and the experience was so terrible I felt compelled to track down her business to warn others to stay away. She bluntly asked if “was a cutter” bc she doesn’t deal with them. She has the bedside manner of a pile of trash and seemed annoyed I was anxious and told me to “speak up” super harshly. Honestly she’s a huge see you next Tuesday who shouldn’t work in healthcare AT ALL let alone folks who have trauma and anxiety.
I've been seeing Dr. Mikulka for 20 years and am confounded by the negative reviews. She's not there to coddle you. She has listened to me and helped me through some tough decision making.
I saw Carol a number of years ago. My pcp had recommended her. She was easily the worst doctor I have personally seen for any specialty, not just psychiatry. I had already had hypothyroidism for years when she put me on lithium. Lithium can destroy your thyroid, and indeed they had to double my dose of my thyroid medicine after the brief time I was on it. I wanted to report her to the state board - I don't remember why I never did. But unless something changed, in the state of FL you have 6 years to report a physician to the state board. Also at the time I had done some digging - she carries much more malpractice insurance than most doctors. I should add that I am and was realistic with my expectations of a psychiatrist. She prescribes, and I had/have a therapist for cbt. I hope those who take up for her continue benefit from her "care", but one should never trust a doctor implicitly nor should one be afraid to get a second, third, however many opinions until they find a doctor or therapist that they feel safe with. These poor reviews are here for a reason. Heed their warnings.
awful experience going to her school. can’t imagine what her actual patients went through
I have seen DR.M for about two years. She helped me a lot. She’s NOT a psychologist she is a psychiatrist, which I think people mistake. She talked about my history and how my feelings are in certain situations to diagnose. Each meeting she is always concerned, and ask how the medications is working and how I feel. She also gives positive encouragement when she sees improvement in my self Confidence, my presentation, and ultimate life. Although, she will not sugar coat for your feelings. she will be straight honest with you as this is what she is suppose to do. If you can’t handle actually getting better and can’t take criticism to be better, then find someone else. She won’t be for you. If you actually want help and can take the work and the process. She is for you. I think she’s great as a professional and as a person.
Too rude & too presumptuous to be a good listener. What stood out to me the most about my first and only appointment is she listened for a few beats, decided I was med seeking and harshly stated she would not be prescribing ADHD medication. All I wanted to do was to tell her my symptoms to see if I had ADHA. I was so offended at not being listened to or heard I left. As it turns out I was evaluated and am formally diagnosed with ADHD. It was the accusation of trying to use her for meds that was so offensive.
This woman was the absolute worst! I wasn’t even in her office 15 mins before she stated “I don’t think I can help you” completely discouraging when you’re trying to find help for your mental health struggles. If you are younger, I’m 30, I do not recommend this woman. Very close minded & very judgmental.
I felt more depressed after the consultation with her.
I’m very surprised to see the bad reviews on this site. I saw Carol for a year, and I am deeply grateful to her. I was on the desperate side looking for a therapist. I must have called 10 docs and couldn’t get in anywhere. Ann, her office manager, must have heard it in my voice and got me in the very next day. I’ve been to two other psychiatrists in my life and they saw me for 15 minutes, prescribed some drugs that never worked, and basically said good luck. Carol listened to me like a counselor, talked through my history, and figured out medication that stabilized me for the first time in 20 year. If I hadn’t been transferred out of state, I’d be seeing her still. Believe me, my entire family is grateful to Carol.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
