Follow Up: After two other consultations with Dr.'s, finding out Dr. Herschel is the MOST expensive not just for office visit for everything. Case in point called asking for a copy of my prescription to be emailed to me and was told it's $50.00. Good thing Dr. is retiring they do not care about their patients in the least. They only care about making $$$. This practice should be ashamed! Called two times to make sure there was $0 fee for consultation for cataract. Was told both times there would be zero fee. Received a bill for $189.20. Also left a total of 3 asking for call back from office manager 1st call back addressed that my insurance was billed. Complete miscommunication on the office staff. Now, with additional questions was asked when do you want to schedule your surgery. I advised I had additional questions. Next time person comes on the phone was told Dr. retiring and no longer scheduling surgeries. Certainly not a way to end your career!

I was seen quickly for my appointment, and the assistant who took my eye images was kind and empathetic. Unfortunately, my experience with the doctor was the complete opposite. From the moment he entered the room, his tone was antagonistic and dismissive. He repeatedly questioned, “Why now? Why do you need help now?” despite my attempts to explain that I had been self-managing issues after LASIK surgery that he himself had performed. When he asked if I had other medical issues, I said no. I mentioned occasional headaches that I believed were related to dry eyes. He immediately squared off and, in a rude and accusatory manner, said, “You CANNOT WITHHOLD medical information from me.” I was shocked by his tone. When I clarified that I had no diagnosed medical problems, he ignored me entirely and turned to my husband to ask, “Is she lying about anything else?” This was beyond disrespectful and humiliating. At that point, I told him I would not continue if I was going to be treated this way. His assistant kept her head down the entire time, clearly uncomfortable. He completed the exam, claimed nothing was wrong, then pushed a procedure (punctal plugs) that he had previously done for me with no improvement. If my eyes were “fine,” why suggest an invasive procedure? I left the room in tears and told the assistant not to waste her time explaining anything further. While my husband was paying, the doctor approached him to try to smooth things over and convince him to talk me into the procedure. When my husband voiced his concerns, the doctor told him that if he spoke to him that way, he was “not welcome” in the practice. This kind of behavior is unacceptable from any medical professional. Patients—especially those returning for post-surgical complications—deserve compassion, respect, and professionalism, not hostility or condescension. It’s a good thing this doctor is retiring, because no one should have to experience this. If anyone in the office chooses to dispute this review, the cameras in the exam room will confirm exactly what happened. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. EDIT AFTER RESPONSE: My concern is not about the diagnosis, but about the doctor’s unprofessional and antagonistic manner. Repeatedly questioning me in a condescending tone and asking my husband if I was “lying” was inappropriate and disrespectful. This was not simply “eliciting more detail,” and it caused a complete loss of trust. I share this so others are aware of my experience.

I’m so grateful to have found Dr. Herschel, he is extremely knowledgeable and clearly has a wealth of experience. From the moment we walked in, we felt we were in expert hands. The entire team is not only helpful and efficient, but also warm and welcoming, making each visit a smooth and pleasant experience. It’s rare to find a provider who combines professionalism with genuine care—and this practice delivers both in abundance. Highly recommend!

I got lasik here over 8 years ago and it’s still the best thing ever! I had the best experience with everyone in the office making me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. So much pre and post op care, they really care about you and your well being. I remember one nurse scolding me and warned they might not do the surgery if I didn’t stick to the strict eye drop routine they could tell I was slacking on so I really felt they cared and weren’t just there for the money. And I’m so thrilled with the results I would have gladly paid more, this freedom has been so worth it!!

The doctor Herschel was extremely patient. I was very anxious at first, but the surgery went smoothly, and I haven’t experienced any discomfort afterward. I feel very fortunate to have met such a highly skilled doctor. I’m truly grateful.

Dr. Herschel was outstanding for me! I had to get this operation done on a time crunch and he was able to get all the prep work and operation done within 3 weeks! Also during holiday season. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. His staff was excellent as well. I got the Evo ICL, and it’s been the best decision I’ve made in awhile, I couldn’t recommend doctor Herschel enough!

This office is amazing to experience. modern miracles in action. All my questions were answered and I under stood each step I never felt uncertain during the whole process. Thank Dr Herschel God bless you and your Entire staff. I never dreamed of the outcome I received. This was truly life changing.

I got ICL done with Dr. Hershel a few weeks ago, and it's amazing. He took his time with my eyes to make sure they were healthy going into surgery. Then he gave me his personal cellphone number in order to assist me with any questions I had during post op. He even came in on a Sunday to take the stitches out of my eyeballs before I went out of town with my family for Xmas. He was always on call, and ready to calm my nerves about any questions I had. I couldn't imagine getting ICL done with any other ophthalmologist.

I visited Dr. Herschel for a second opinion on my cataracts, and I’m so glad I did. He recommended the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL), which can be adjusted after surgery in the office—an amazing technology! The entire process, from surgery to follow-ups, has been smooth and reassuring. As someone who gets anxious easily, I appreciated how Dr. Herschel and his staff explained everything clearly and made me feel at ease.
