Laurie Harden's Online Review Report Card

Posting on behalf of my wife - "I have had a really rough experience with Harden Health. It started out a few years ago with struggling getting someone to answer the phone or call me back in an appropriate amount of time to schedule an appt. I never once saw Dr Harden which is fine, if her nurse practitioner actually was receptive to patient complaints. I have been previously diagnosed with ADD and severe anxiety. When I came to her saying I think that it actually is ADHD after tonsssss of research. She made me feel like I was fishing for controlled drugs when I specifically do not want those and told her that. I told her I was hoping for a more homeopathic remedy. She pushed me off and pushed me off continuing to prescribe meds that I told her aren't working. After all that they changed their policy about online meetings after I have explained to umpteenth secretaries that I have already been approved for online appts. Again, my requests and complaints were ignored. It is a struggle processing people who work with people who depend on meds and therapy for survival and those people run them through the ringer.

If you are diagnosed with ADHA…don’t go! First I never met Dr Harden. It was some young PA but I forgot her name. I came in with a diagnosis, explained my symptoms I even got emotional. She stated that she was going to prescribed strattera after I explained I’ve taken it twice and I didn’t like it. So she prescribed it again and said if I still don’t like it she will try vivance. She said I need to fail different meds in order to get a approved prior authorization for vivance. I called the next day to explain that I don’t think it’s a good idea I start strattera and that she should just send the vivance because I’ve failed strattera in the past. She explains to me that Dr. Harden thinks it’s INAPPROPRIATE that I’m on vivance. I’ve never met with Dr. Harden. My question is ……. Why was I lied to by that young woman and why didn’t I met with Dr. Harden herself?

I love this lady. I've been seeing her for years now and she always has my best interest in mind.

I’m not going to get into the details of medical care as I was not present during my fiancés visits. My review is strictly regarding office practices and customer service. Let’s begin with the fact that reaching anyone in the office is nearly impossible. Majority of the time you have to wait for a call back assuming they review your message. My fiancé had an approved application for prescription assistance and we needed physician’s signature to complete application. Our previous physician was amazing and helped us get through to this point however, she was retiring so we had to find a new provider. This is when we switched over to Dr. Harden’s office. Dr. Harden’s office personnel decided my fiancé wasn’t “needy enough” so they trashed the application. It took us nearly 2 months to have that application approved and due to their negligence and lack of cooperation, our application was terminated as it passed the time limit. We then tried to begin the process again, we called Dr. Harden’s office only to have them tell us that they could submit the paper work after we pay a $100 fee. We paid the fee in vain because our application was later denied. Mind you, we also have insurance. Our insurance denied our prescription because Dr. Harris failed to submit an appeal stating the patient has already tried previous meds without success. Overall, this is the worst experience we’ve ever had with a mental health provider. It’s disappointing because the system as it stands is so flawed, the least we can hope for is caring physicians who go the extra mile to help their patients. If you’re expecting quality care, look elsewhere. I will be looking into reporting their office for malpractice.

Dr Harden was a life saver for me when I first connected with her. Very few medical professionals grasp the insidious and dark nature of psychological abuse in a marital relationship. At my lowest lowest moment, her observation was a turning point that was my journey to freedom from my abuser. I am forever grateful for her role in my journey to surviving hidden abuse. Sadly the relationship with Dr Harden has taken a sour turn during the covid era. At every office visit I was hounded to wear a plastic face covering that even states clearly on the packaging that it does not prevent viral infection. At my last visit Dr stood 2 feet from me and yelled at me that my disrespect in questioning this face covering would not be tolerated. It was a very uncomfortable visit to then sit on her couch and watch her do a 180 degree turn to a soft 'concerned' voice ask me "so how are you feeling?". Well, my health care provider just screamed in my face because I don't agree with restricting my oxygen intake, increasing my carbon dioxide intake, and weakening my immune system.... so I'm not feeling great, thanks for asking. Of course I didn't say this. I did however hand Dr Harden a stack of scientific studies and reports that I had printed out for her, on the safety and efficacy of face coverings. I said in a calm and kind tone: "Where I come from on this is not an uneducated place, would you be interested in reading about the effects of face coverings?" Dr Harden took the papers, tossed them across the room to her desk and told me "That's irrelevant, I am educated too! You don't have to be a patient here." The thing about being a survivor of psychological abuse is, you can identify abusive behaviors in other very easily. I expect this review will be censored and removed, that is after all the times we are in. My hope is that Dr Harden will find it in herself to reflect on her conduct. Oh, and I guess that she dropped me as a patient. I am left to guess because I was not informed of that, her office just hasn't returned my calls attempting to get my prescription refilled for three weeks now.

I have spent the past 3 weeks trying to get someone to at least call me back during the 48 hour period that's stated when I call. I have called 4 times now, and each time I call back the front desk apologized for no one calling and puts me on the "priority list" for a call back the same day. This has happened 3 times in a row, AFTER the first time I called. I have now wasted 3 weeks trying to just give someone my information. I have never even stepped foot in the office because they never call me back for the new patient interview. This is very unprofessional, and I'm going to take the hint and go elsewhere.

I have a lot of respect for the people who work at Harden Health. I have been seeking psychiatric help for years, and to find a doctor and staff that makes sure you are heard can be rare. They take measures to ensure the safety of their staff with Covid and that to me speaks about how they care about your safety as well. They are busy but they make time for you.

Taking control of your mental health can be absolutely daunting for any individual; but for some, these conditions make it downright impossible to feel like you can do it. Having now seen Dr. Harden for nearly a full year, I can attest to her caring and professional nature as a physician. Truly a life-changer. I cannot thank her enough for allowing me to feel like I truly have a chance again. Well-educated on different diagnoses, how they present themselves, and medications to treat them. Psychiatric conditions can take time to diagnose, treatment is almost certainly never instant and can take a combination of both medication and counseling/therapy. For me, Dr. Harden also made it easy to find the other help I needed. Highly recommend.
