I wish I had never heard of Melvin field. Now my wife is unable to do anything I will never get her well enough to come home it was to be a simple surgery no problems ha don't let him do surgery on your loved one. Not truth ful l at all. She passed away Sept 10 2022. Married 61 years my high school sweetheart
Dr. Field treated me both for a brain mass and lumbar spinal stenosis. Both surgeries were successful and about two years apart. Dr. Field is an extremely skilled surgeon with a warm bedside manner. He discusses each issue in layman’s terms and provides understandable explanations of what the surgery would entail along with the risks in each situation. He is compassionate and understands his patient’s needs. He spends time with patients, listening to their questions, and does not rush through an appointment. I was also very pleased with his immediate staff that included a patient care coordinator, an advanced registered nurse practitioner, and a skilled nurse. Each one was very personable and skilled in their respective position. Kudos goes to each of them for the care that I received. If you are looking for someone that is skilled, caring, and compassionate, I do not think you can find a better physician than him.

Thank you to Dr. Field and his amazing team for the support, patience, and help during my surgery and recovery. Always grateful! ❤️
I was injured while serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq in 2003. When I returned from overseas, I began to develop a tic in my left side eyelid. I initially discounted the condition as stress from being in a war zone, but over time it began to spread into my forehead and down into my face and ultimately into the neck. These tics never quit and they were 24/7. I spent eight years being bounced around from one doctor to another and having diagnosis of Bells Palsy among many others. After years of my own research and narrowing my condition down to one of just a couple of possibilities, I contacted the doctor in Pennsylvania that perfected the procedure that is called MicroVascular Decompression surgery that is performed on patients with Trigeminal Neuralgia, a condition very similar to mine. That doctor, due to his age, referred me to Dr. Field, who had been a student of his, and was within my area of the country. I sent my MRI and X-rays to his office and then made an appointment with Dr. Field. My wife and I drove to Winter Haven and met with Dr. Field the next morning. Within 10 minutes of his seeing me in his examination room, Dr. Field diagnosed me of having a condition hemifacial spasms caused by my facial nerve short circuiting against blood vessels to my ear drum and scheduled me for surgery the following month. He solved the riddle of my condition in 10 minutes that other doctors could not solve in over 8 years. This was my last hope for a cure as I was on my last nerve (no pun intended). Dr. Field performed the MVD surgery in 2012 and I have never had a recurrence since as of 2023. If not for Dr. Field, I don't know what would have ultimately happened to me. I only wish it had not taken eight years to find the answer. The man has a great gift from God and I pray he can use that gift to cure many, many more people!
Dr. Fields was the best neurologist I’ve been too! He was very friendly and eased mine and my mothers fears about my diagnosis and treatment plan.
Great dr best of the best
My wife died after surgery he said was minor no problem. Brain tumor small hole but ended cutting almost all the way across the head then wanted to do more surgery before she woke up but never recovered
In 2005 dr field did a laminectomy for a rupturing disk & a tumor that id had for years & was very painful. I was told the surgery might cause paralysis, but was up & walking in a week, & back to work in 2 weeks! Something is going now with my back & i want no one but dr field.
I imagine Dr. Field is a fantastic surgeon but I felt that he lacked people skills and compassion. I saw him for a condition which is inoperable (I knew this prior to my appt). I have symptoms from this condition which can be quite debilitating and he said I had to “let it be” and to be grateful that I don’t have to have surgery (duh). He offered no other suggestions to help with the symptoms and said they probably aren’t related when I’ve done extensive research which states otherwise. I felt like he was patronizing and dismissive.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
