List of Stephen A. Bankston's Reviews
Friendly staff, Excellent Oral Surgeon. Excellent care. And healed with complications what's ever. Thoughtful gift whilst healing
I’m a returning patient of Dr Bankston and had my last 2 wisdom teeth removed on 12/17/21. I was in and out with little down time. I followed his thorough care instructions to a T; medications, ice/warm pack and rising at the appropriate times given. Don’t hesitate to see Dr. Bankston and his amazing staff, they will take excellent care of you!
I used Dr Bankston for implant surgery. This was the third time I have had this surgery done and the first time by Dr Bankston. I was very pleased with him and his staff. This was the least amount of pain I have had and his process removed a second surgery. He was also more affordable than the prior experience I had. If I need this surgery done in the future I will use him.
Unacceptable. 15+ days waiting for him to read a CT scan and X-Ray. Too many other professional dentists and oral surgeons who enjoy their jobs and caring for their patients. Run. Away. Now
It took TEN days to get an answer and phone call from the Dr. to read a simple x-ray. After telling me there was concern about matter I was told to get a CAT scan. I immediately made that appointment and left with CD's to mail to Dr. Bankston to review and that was FIVE days ago. To read a CT scan so I can get a fractured root canal removed and the "matter of concern" looked at and biopsied. I don't know what all the glowing reviews are referring to when this is my first experience with this office but I am looking to get my images back and go somewhere else. FIFTEEN days with pain and eating Ibruprofen 800 like candy. Unacceptable.
Run. Away. Now. There are too many dentists and oral surgeons that actually care about their patients and enjoy their jobs. There are too many that have good bedside manner, time management and professional conduct. Too much competition so don't waste it here.
Go somewhere else I'm warning you. I have NEVER in my life interacted with such a hustler or entirely unprofessional staff. I mean during my consultation I felt wary because all I wanted was 1 tooth extracted and he pushed to get the rest surgically removed. Despite my reservations, I showed up. Well, I could write about having to wait an extra HOUR and not being told about the delay until another patient complained about it, or I could tell you they never even acknowledged me when I entered the office. Not even hello, we'll be right with you. But I still paid and politely waited. But the final reason why I asked for a refund is this: They let a random woman enter the office and use the restroom without even taking her temperature - We are in the middle of a global pandemic! I left quickly thereafter and I suggest none of you get exposed to COVID-19 OR their carelessness and unprofessionalism.

Fine if you survive the wait. Fortunately, they have a nice waiting room. I spent 4 hours in it. My 1:15 appointment was a joke. Around 5 , they decided to redo a complete set of Xrays when my referral only called for evaluating my 1 broken tooth. Surprise! It needs to come out. 5 months later, I'm waiting for appointment with another surgeon to start the process over. Take a good book to read. You may be there a long time.
I was a patient of Dr Bankston. I am writing so no one has to experience what I went through or possibly worse. Dr Bankston performed a simple implant and bone graft for me. The first surgery went poorly and I was taken to the emergency room on a weekend because of massive infection due to the sutures in my mouth falling out because they were poorly done. My face was swollen and pus was all inside my mouth. The ER gave me antibiotics and the infection cleared up. I figured it was a mistake and I would allow him to complete the work. The second surgery went worse then the first. The implant became infected and I went to Dr Bankston to see how he planned on handling it. He said it looked fine and I should just allow him to shoot me with enough novocaine to last 24 hours. That didn't sound right. I went to my general dentist and she immediately called another surgeon and asked him to stay after hours to see me. He said the implant had failed an it needed to come out. He gave me pain medication and antiboitics. This was a Friday I scheduled my new surgeon to remove the implant the following week. Over the weekend I was having a very hard time swallowing. I called Bankston's on call physician and he said to "immediately go to an emergency room" My understanding is the infection was spreading. I went to the ER and they administered medications and steroids to fight the infection and reduce the swelling. In my opinion, anyone considering using him should think again. See Griffin v Bankston....very similar experience noted in this malpractice suit against Bankston.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
