They provide sub par medical care. Patients who need to be seen for pressing issues (possible past cardiac events) can not get in for an evaluation for over 1 month! Not acceptable. Told to go to the ER when there is not a current acute medical issue. That is not acceptable and just over taxes our ER system more. Unless you are completely healthy and do not need true medical attention I do not recommend this practice.
Poor office staff management. I made an appointment with Dr. Shillinger over two months ago. I took off work for my appointment and the day before my appointment they called and canceled me because of her scheduling. This should have been taken care of when I first made the appointment. Do not make appointments online through their office (I do not know why this service is available if it is incorrect).
I had such an amazing experience here! I have never been to a doctor that actually listened and cared. I always have put off going to the doctor but I really found a great one here!
Upon moving to Athens I was happy to go to piedmont medical Hawthorne because I had been so happy with their office in canton ga. I met with dr. Lambert. Initially I thought he was okay. However, in December 2017 I met with dr lammert again complaining of a possible sinus infection that had dropped down into my chest. He did not want to prescribe the antibiotic that works best on me (as he previously had) and prescribed a less powerful one. He did not recommends chest X-ray. Within a couple of days I was rushed to the hospital and admitted for 7 days with bacterial pneumonia. The bronchial spasms were terrifying. When released, I required home health, a walker and oxygen at home. Then in March, I visited him again complaining of fluid retention which was affecting my breathing. He completely disagreed with me re the fluid retention but said he would prescribe a diauretic if I wanted one. Two days later, at around 9pm, I was having extreme difficulty breathing and had to call an a,bulance. When in the ER at Athens regional, they immediately pushed lasix via IV to release the fluid. I’m still on lasix every day for fluid retention. To make matters worse, when trying to. Switch doctors within the group (which I was told was permitted and there would be no problem) dr lammert refused to sign off on it therefore black balling me from their other doctors.
I usually go to the oconee location and I have always had such a nice experience. When my blood needs to get drawn, there is always someone there willing to hold my hand and distract me. Today I am very sick and was able to get an appointment with the Athens location. Walking in it was very clean but warm. I usually am freezing in the waiting room but I was quite comfortable. When I get called back I am greeted kindly by Ms. Angie. Not only was she very kind and sincere, she was also gentle and quick and ever so smart. Talking with her for those short minutes gave me stress relief and made me want to come back. It so wonderful to know this location is hiring such exquisite people. Very very pleased with my visit and I will probably try to make this piedmont location my regular doctors office.
The office is extremely well-managed and Dr. Townsend is an excellent physician who covers all the bases when it concerns patient care.
Excellent care by caring health professionals.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
